LIVE ACTION ROBOTECH (WB gets the rights)

Some more good news. It looks like the official xbox mag is acknowledging Ace Combat 6 as a "timed" exclusive. The Bamco official page has also added Beautiful Katamari & Eternal Sonata officially onto the PS3 roster, though not launching at the same time as the 360 versions. Bamco hasn't officially stated anything about AC6, but if it is indeed a timed exclusive, hopefully it'll hit the PS3 early/mid next year. BTW, has anyone heard any more info about the rumored rumble being added to the sixaxis? If that's due out early/mid next year, it could be a contributing factor to some of these PS3 release delays.

That could just be for their mecha. Though we also know from the DYRL production, & from Graham in Dynamite, that the macronizing technology isn't exclusively for Zentradi use, it also works on humans & Zolans. As such, it would also work on Protoculture. In fact, the Protoculture remnant found at the Lux ruins was giant if I recall correctly.
-
Major problem with that theory being, we don't know what the lifespan of the Protoculture was. We know the Zentradi, Humans, & Zolans have limited life spans. We also no that the AFOS, EVIL, & Ginga Kujira have extremely long, if not infinate ilfe spans. Since 2 out of three of those species are definately known to be created by the Protoculture (though i think the GK are too), we know that the Protoculture had the technology to make themselves immortal. My basic point being, there's no reason to believe that any remaining SA would be Zentradi, and could in fact still be PC citizens.

Well, 2009 before we can even dream of a U.S. release -
Oh my god, Turn A, 0083, SEED/Destiny/Stargazer, & MSG & Zeta are definately in it. http://japan.gamespot.com/arcade/news/stor...20356388,00.htm The backgrounds still look a little weak, but that may get refined by the time of the game's arecade release. If this get's released on PS3, I'm importing it asap, though it probably won't hit consoles for at least a year from now....I'm so excited!!!

What you need to do is set your son straight with what his priorities are. You make him renew that live membership, and play Ace Combat 6 with you, it's the ultimate father son activity. There's plenty of time for school after! -

You know, the only way this would truly work, and be entertianing I think, would be if tobey could somehow talk Sam Raimi into directing. Can you picture it now? Ted Raimi is Max! -
Zaku III would rock pretty hard, but considering it was such a minor ZZ mecha, do you think they'll include it?

This isn't really PS3 related (yet), but the next Gundam Vs game has been announced to hit arcades in March. It's going to feature mobile suits from 15 different series, which could cover all U.C. & AU from the original straight through 00. This could finally be the all encompansing super Gundam vs game I've been waiting for. And if it hits PS3, all the better, as it'll be incredibly easy to import. I can't wait!! Especially After Alliance Vs ZAFT II Plus & its crazy fast gameplay, if they keep the basic engine, & throw in curreng gen level graphics, I couldn't possibly be happier.

I'm glad you did it, becuase I've been fighting the temptation for days to post a picture of Transmorphers -
Re: DYRL Meltrandi ship designs: This one is explained easily enough, especially since 7 officially includes them in the mainline canon. We know that the Protoculture had a civil war, and developed two distinct cultures. We know that each side used Zentradi to battle proxy for them, and we know that the Zentradi were split into male female groups. SDF Macross only introduces one distinct ship style, be them in different colors, with different mecha styles for the male & female Zentradi. DYRL then introduced the notion that the males fought for one side of the Protoculture, while the females fought for the other side (using entirely different ship stylings). This is reconsiled in Macross 7, which explains that the two factions of Protoculture, and as such, two factions of Zentradi, were banded together after severe losses to the Protoculture Protodevelin. It's the very same period where the restraints against attacking Protoculture were removed from the Zentradi. In this circumstance, it's very easily concievable to have a male/female combined fleet such as the Gorg Bodolza fleet, since there really was no choice at the time, but to consolodate & combine forces.

Yup, pretty sure they only mentioned Hasbro. -
The episode was "Viva Maria," when Britai picked up the gang & took them to capture the factory satellite.

The full box is also now scheduled for December. Figured I'd just go for that, instead of waiting for individual volumes.

HG's never credited them before. The extent of their Japanese credits were mentioning Tatsunoko. So I doubt any of that would change now. As for the topic of live action Go Nagai mentioned earlier, i thought Anno's Cutie Honey was a great live action adaptation. Something like Mazinger Z would also lend itself well to a (Japanese) live production. Simple story, easily enough told within 2 hours, and giant robots busting sh!t up. ROCKETO PUUUUNCH BREAAST FIIYAAA JEETTOO SCURRANDAAA! -
The only thing I don't like about PS3's online right now, is how freakin' long it takes to download anything. Exactly what is up with that?

Only problem I have with that is that VGer was already way superior to anything the Borg had, including his probes. He'd be m ore likely to blast them out of existence for having the audacity to include bio-components in their mechanical, than to create them. Though if they do make another current era Trek, I'd love to see Vger pop back into this dimension, and take out all the borg for beign so freakin' overused. Hell, if VGer were to give birth to any trek species, I'd think it would be Q. -

I'd stick with CDJapan. I've heard many horror stories about AmazonJP's shipping with DHL. -

Hell, HG is so scared of using Macross footage, they didn't include any in the making of SC feature, just brief mentions with Mospeada footage going over it -

For the exact same reasons that Transformers was a reboot, this will be a story reboot as well. It'll most likely take place in a suedo contemporary era, most likely involve the gulf war as a backdrop for the origins. Something like an alien ship crashed in Iraq, and soldiers were really over there trying to claim a downed ship, or something inane like that. Hell, perhaps they'll pull the old area 51 thing, and have the ship being re-constructed underground for 50 years. The cast/characters will almost assuredly be entirely american, or at least 90% so. As others have said, the "veritechs" will likely be F-22's, or something simliar, likely only with 2 transformations, if any. They may go the route of having them be non-transformable giant robots. As for the rest, this si perfect hollywood fodder. Due to the rights issues, they have a free pass to completely re-write the base story. For once this totally works in their favor. I wouldn't expect any major story similarities aside from character names. The name Zentradi would almost assuredly have to go. In fact most things regarding the Zentradi will have to tread on very light ground. Likely they'll scrap them all together, in place of "the robotech masters," or "the invid." The more I think about this, the more a suedo Macross styled story, with Mospeada styled aliens makes sense. That way HG can still keep their shadow chronicles tie in with little canon problem. As for this whole mess being bad for Macross, I totally disagree. This is one of the best things to happen in the U.S. for Macross in quite a while. If Big West has indeed hammered out their claims over the intellectual property in Japan, then chances are Funimation, ADV, or Bandai visual will make long necessary licensing attempt on a Macross series to test the waters. If there's one thing that's certain in the entertainment business, it's that is something potentially popular is on the horizon, then things similar to it will be bought up to ride that sales wave. We may actually get DYRL or Zero out of this, not to mention the new series. And dare I dream 7? -
