Macross II's main problem is that it's nearly 100% recycled DYRL plotline, without a TV series to fill on all the little story gaps & summaries. DYRL works because we know the story of the TV series. Macross II has nothing to support it at all. As for the Marduk, I always took it that they were another Earth like race that came across the Zentradi, but instead of cohabitating them, just enslaved & stole their technology. The only way it would even remotely work as canon would be to take things that way. And of course to have the Earth there actually be a way far out distant isolated colony fleet. Strange thing is, Macross Frontier goes a long way towards reconciling Macross II into the canon. We now have the NUNS (originated in II), privativzed Valkyrie production, and the existence of multiple Macross class ships. Sure the Cutlure Park is a little wonky, but who's to say crazed colonists wouldn't want to recreate some of Earth's lost treasures. As strange as it is, and as one of the bigger Macross II detractors of the past 15+ years, I now see a big window Kawamori has opened up to potentically accept Macross II. The OVA still has its share of problems, but not nearly as many continuity problems as it used to.

Macross 7: First time to view the series
Keith replied to Lethalzero's topic in Movies and TV Series
The bonus episodes & movie fit into the chronology in this order. 41 I Love Mylene! 41-A On Stage 41-B Which One Do You Love? 41-C Fleet of the Strongest Women 42 Desperate Capture Operation 42-A The Galaxy Is Calling Me This is based on the only possible spot in the chronology that these events can take place. i.e. after Lux goes boom, but before operation Stargazer. Episode order is also determined by the next ep previews, i.e. "Which One Do You Love" has a preview for "FotSW," therefore it happens before that episode, while "On Stage" has a preview for "Which One Do You Love?," and so goes the pattern. In turn the movie can only take place after "Desperate Capture Operation," because that's when the nature of Gabil/Glabil's combination is learned, and there's no way those events can happen any time past ep 43. -
Hmm, so what's the big secret with the VF-19 Kai, obvioiusly Basara doesn't use normal attacks. Also, how does the missile lock on work? VFX-2 & the PS2 Macross game had the best lock ons, with how long you hold down the button effecting how many targets you lock, and how many missiles you launch. I'm assuming it uses the more blah push button launch missile storm option though.

The good news, anything missing here will likely pop up in sequal games. I'd expect the same treatment that has been given the GB games with game engine refinements, and masses of new varients added. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised to see Macross II mecha in a future sequel. Take a look at how sparse & bare bones Gundam Battle Tactics is compared to Battle Universe. What'd be really cool, would be for a SRW style multi-franchise license Battle game, Macross, Gundam, and any other license they can jam in there.

Are maps larger than thsoe in the gundam Battle games?
-
Any word on whether or not there are any special bonus's for having GB saves?
-
Nope, but if you can find a copy of the Macross 20th Anniversary Collection DVD, it has just about every extra you could want (except for the M3 intro) covering Macross right up until just before Zero.

I'll whinge as much as I want, the principle isn't whether or not you can grab a subttitled copy from HK, singapore, or what not, it's why U.S. companies are whinging about licensensing costs, while at least several other places around the world seem to have ponied up. Unless Japan is charging the U.S. more for some reason.

I don't know what you guys are talking about, I sympathized with Basara right away, instantly marathoned the whole half of the series I had at the time, while ordering the rest of it immeidately Good times. -
I'm really surprised they never released solo Mylene Holy Lonely Light & Light the Light either, boggles the mind. Hell, I can't believe they relegated Pillow Dream to one of the Galaxy Network Chart albums. I actually do have a copy of the accoustic ending version of Totsugeki Love Heart, got it from someone here actually, don't remember who or when though. Looks like my copy of OST 2 is about to sihp, so I'll forego any downloads. I'm also snagging the Electric Fire DVD, coudln't resist after seeing the youtube clips.

Watch the beginning again, Basara moved those flowers! After that the whole deal of wave motion through the universe is explained. Crafty Kawamori, did he have an inkling of Frontier's story 11 years ago? -

Little does everyone know, Fold Waves are effected by Anima Spiritia, "The Galaxy Is Calling Me" set the presedent ofr that with the narration after Basara moves the sunflowers with his song. Point being.. HA HA HA, KAWAMORI SLIPPED SPIRITIA INTO FRONTIER & YOU DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE! (directed at no specific person(s) here) -

Has Humanity truly surpassed Protoculture?
Keith replied to dreamweaver13's topic in Movies and TV Series
Until human tech can hold its own against something like the AFOS, then no. That thing deflected reaction weapons like they were nuthin', as such, humans are still just sponging off of PC leftovers. Culturally however, humanity has surprassed the Protoculture. Humans have managed to cohabitage with the Zentradi, Protodevelin, and now Vajra. All feets which illuded the PC. -
