    I would just like to point out how insane it is that "The Shadow Chronicles" came out almost 12 years ago.

    It definately felt like this movie was made from all of the studio notes that were "no's" from the first film. If this had come out in 2007, the only complaints would have been the rapid fire 80's soundrack "tried too hard." I loved it, and am glad they finally made it. Keep in mind, I Still enjoy the other (5?) for what they are, but wow, It was amazing to see one where the robots and humans were actually interacting & talking together in the same plain.

    It had to do with the Network demanding that the production run be extended from 26 episodes to 36, which resulted in Hideaki Anno quitting Gainax (the first time). All things considered, the Island episodes aren't "that bad," and do still retain important story elements (the island turning out to be Blue Noah, and contacting space). It's the Africa episodes that are absolute trash, have zero plot relevance, and should be avoided at all costs.

    I actually think the movie version works well. It hits just enough of the right story beats to be cohesive. It also drives home the main point of the series, that I think got a little lost in the TV version. The Protoculture at their peak were poised to do exactly what Sharon Apple, Grace/Galaxy Fleet & Roid all attempted. Place all of the universe into their Vajra inspired Matrix. The main Protoculture faction at their end were "not" good people, and it's probably a good thing that the Protodevilin took them out. With that said, I also think Macross should move on from any future big bads that want to enslave everyone into a network, that territory is now sufficiently covered.

    Earth's fleet was sizable, just outclassed by the Gamilus. I'd still say the fleet is feasible
