That thing he said!! Going by what I've read and listened to of him, including his seperate commentary track on Heavy Metal (the one where he pretty much claims all responability for creating the movie), then I'd have to say yes, he is exactly that delusional, if not more so.

I'm all for higher production run & lower cost's, especially since the 19 Kai is my alltime favorite. Speaking of which, Graham, what are the chances of it having a custom Basara pilot mini-figure with guitar control stick? it doesn't have to come out, and if it meant higher detail, I wouldn't mind it being a permanent fixture at all. Hell, if it came with a little Sivil figure as a bonus, all the better! Keith posting in the toys forum more than once every couple years? This truly is a paramount day!

That's a tough one, do you really think the Kai would be more mainstream than the YF-19?
-
All I'm saying, is if you're gonna have a VF-19 Kai, it might as well be one that blast's music!

All I need to know is how much, and when! Also, when will Sound Boosters with USB & earphone doc's be released for to blast music out of while on dipslay!!

Tough tough call. Live action I'm gonna have to agree with Togo and say Star Wars, all including the requals, best of which being Sith & Empire. honerable mention goes to Blade Runner, A.I., and the Kurt Russel Stargate...and the new Star Trek movie. My anime choice isn't quite as hard, the clear winner in my eyes being Galaxy Express 999, and Adeiu Galaxy Express 999, Final Station Andromeda. In fact, I'd have to say that's my favorite sci-fi of all time period. As for this nonsenese of not considering SW sci-fi, wtf. Going by random rules of distilling elements, no sci-fi can be considered sci-fi. Is Dune no longer sci-fi? 2001 had aliens that transcended any conventional means of technology, at that point does it cease being sci-fi? Blade Runner is actually a noir detective story, etc. Stop being a sci-fi nazi! -
Again, I'm referring to the "specific" way in which both stories play out. Megazone 23 Part 1 The Matrix Admittedly, there is a big difference admittedly here, while Neo trounces Smith, Shogo gets his ass handed to him by D.D. But the final sceens show both hereos defiantly going back into the ciites to fight another day. Megazone 23 Part 2 The Matrix Reloaded Both heroes are now part of underground resistence groups that live in ruins. Both get attacked by enemies that rip them to shreds with tentacles (Dezalg/Sentinels) Both have sex scenes with their female love interests. Both meet the "Architects" of their worlds, Both have their love interests die, then be ressurected. Megazone 23 Part 3 Parts 1 & 2 The Matrix Revolutions These stories play out somewhat backwards from each other, and yet still very simlarly Megazone has a Yahagi Shogo who has been defeated by "the system," and in turn, has become part of it (Wong Dai). With his replacement becoming he new "Neo" fighting the old. Neo on the other hand is pitted up against a viral "Smith," who shares his system breaking powers, and in the end after defeating Smith, becomes part of "The System." Part 3 also introduces the aspect of recruiting the hero based on a game (Hard On indeed!), has the betrayal of a major resistence member that was in the first Matrix, and overall, the main lead in this character fills the role of the final "One," with Shogo playing the role as the previous "one" who failed. Eve in general serves a combo Morpheus/Oracle role, while ADAM would be the human hating "system" that is barely convinced to let them co-exist. D.D. & the Dezalg are combined into the bigger badder "Smith" enemy, with the destruction of the Megazoen in Part 2 being saved for the near destruction of the Matrix in Revolutions. Seriously, look at the two closely, you'll find a lot in common with both stories, so much so that I really am surprised the Wachowski's didn't credit it amongst their anime influences. I'm not saying that these are 100% original story aspects, but the combination of a lot of the same ones is very suspect.

That's more like it! However, with the announcement of the 1/60 VF-19 Kai, my toy budget is quite spoken for!!

For shame on Bandai for not including a "Pegas" carrying case! Also, why is it taking so long for VOLTEKKA! PIC'S!?
-
If that were true, then Pizza Hut would never have had those MS Pac Man table top arcade games 25 years ago, which clearly fly in the face of god & jesus by having a yellow dot with a bow "eating" the holy ghost!

I'm talking about plot structure, not just basic story.

What Current Anime Series Are You Watching? v2.0

Bluray? -
Basara's band suit actually doubles as a flight suit, as seen in the epiosde where he zips it up, puts on a helmet, and hangs out in space outside of the 19 Kai.

Hey, I liked Speed Racer...

I think they "hinted" at licensing the recent movies & putting those on bluray this year, but that may have just been wishful thinking on my part.. -
Tommy Yune doesn't need to answer this question, as HG has already quite suffuciently answered it themselves: -Robotech II: The Sentinels ~ Completely changed character designs for Macross characters, very reminiscent designs for Mospeada & Southern Cross characters, only Mospeada & Southern Cross mecha are used. -Robotech 3000 ~ Rip-off Exosquad & Voltron 3D much??? -Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles ~ Completely changed character designs for Macross characters, very reminiscent designs for Mospeada & Southern Cross characters, only Mospeada mecha was used. And now there is a total aversion to terms like "Zentradi" being switched to "aliens," with a b s o l u t e l y "NO" mention of Macross events whatever in the prelude of the movie (not to be confused with the prelude comic which counts as merch). And going by the "making of" featurette, it appears that HG is even too afraid to include Macross stock footage, as the show was not only "not mentioned," but also completely ignored with only Mospeada being refrenced on screen. Actions afterall speak louder than words.

If your experiencei s anything like mine, then even "the right mood" will lead to falling asleep before any single episode is over.... Until such time as they make a CSI or Law & Order anime, I write off the issue as a lost cause. Unless you count waiting until they're asleep and watching anime in the same room as watching together

GitS? Only visually, it was actually a ripoff of Megazone 23.

It's not so much that scene's were cut from the fansubs, it's more to do with retouched animation/new scenes being added to DVD releases in Japan in general. The fansubs are true to the "as broadcasted" versions of the episodes. This isn't an uncommon practice, Macross Frontier also had retouched animatoin in the home release. As for getting the girlfriend to watch Haruhi, as soon as I can get mine to watch anything other than Mononoke Hime, I'll tell you how!
