You know, it's talk like that which is why we don't get nice things. This isn't $36 for 1 25 minute episode of stock tv animation. This is $36 for 1 hour long episode of high end modern new fresh off the freakin' boat OVA animation, and on the same day as its Japanese release. For better or worse, this is how anime is released in Japan, expensive, slowly, and expensive. Hell, import shipping would easily bump the price up towards $50+. On average, movies, and 3-4 episode per disc TV releases push $70. Again, this is Japanese, not U.S. pricing. For a release of this quality, it's worth it to me to get a day & date with the Japanese release + english subs. Maybe it'd be worth it for you to wait 5+ years to see a possibly cheaper release once the OVA has finished, but don't confuse this by comparing it with your average "Hollywood" release.

Only Fire Bomber/Sound Force used the guitar control scheme, Considering there weren't any other bands, why would anyone else need to? Your argument fails, as does your troll attempt. GTFO!

Just got the bluray yesturday, and this first episode is quite awesome. The full Jegan fight, with the commander putting up a true fight to the end, badass. Good enough to be Tomino Gundam, which I can't remember happening ever, not even 0083. Though some of IGLOO came close.

The All Things Video Games Thread!
Keith replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I know this is hard for you to understand sometimes, but some of us have been around the internet for quite a while. To put it in much simpler terms, I've been spewing hate at WD's since they decided to start dubbing the battle voice in games (Lunar SSSC). And then there was the whole Rayearth intro song fiasco (if you knew how bad the first version of it was...). But as a young pro-Macross, anti-dub/robotech fan, they're "charming" re-write style & overflow of pop-culture references in general got pretty tired fast. Not to mention their obscene delays. Plus, I never forgave them for "forgetting" what the code was to unlock the cutscenes, including the un-used ones, in Vay. -
What Current Anime Series Are You Watching? v2.0
Keith replied to Duke Togo's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I enjoyed the first series too, but Brotherhood makes it look like dog sh!t. Strap in for near non-stop awesome, slightly hindered by a re-cap episode thrown in there, damn this show is good. I'm up to ep 47. -

VF-19Kai superior, Op with lips inferior! -
Consider it a comfortable intro into something that is going to be quite different.

The Transformers 3 Thread--A Michael Bay Thread

It hopefully means no more gay ass lips for Optimus, and all mouth cover all of the time! Also going by the Batman franchise, "more mature" Bumblebee means he'll have a penis. -
Because their denial is just so damned cute?

Nope, can't do it. I'd be too tempted to brinng as big a boombox as I could find, and blast Seikan Hikou at everyone there.

I'm the one who spews WD hate, F-YOU WORKING DESIGNS, AND F-YOU IRELAND (vic, not the country). -
I see 2 things wrong with this release. -NO PIECES OF SWEET STARS, DAMN YOU GAINAX!! -NO BLURAY, DAAAMMNN YOU GAINAX!!! With that said, I'll probably still get it.
-
Super Jail, Tom & Eeric, and other assorted random crap is INDEED crap. However, Venture Brothers, Boondocks, Aqua Teen, Robot Chicken, & Titan Maximum are all quite awesome. Metalocolypse is also occasionally entertaining.
-
Weirder yet still, it seems to randomly sway between faux british & faux southern at the actress's whim.
-
I'm really enjoying this movie so far, I'm 2/3rds into the second chapter. i just wish they released it with Japanese audio & english subtitles!
-
Actually, adult swim is one of the last bastions of old school sensability mixed with humor. Kids would do well to watch Venture Bros, The Boondocks, & Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

I honestly don't see where all your hate is spewing from, while the Sega CD had the superior music, the Saturn/PS1 version vastly expanded on the story, and refined the battle engine quite a bit. EB took less of an improvement from its Sega CD/PS1 transition, but then the game was already pretty tight to begin with. Plus it had one of the best surprise epilogues, if not the best ever. I've only played a bit into the PSP remake, but so far, it's a pretty competant port. Prettier graphics, and a bit simplified, but that's just the current trend with RPG's. Kids these days can't be bothered to ::gasp:: walk across a world map, and chance getting lost on the way to their next town. Hell, I doubt many in the current game playing gen would be able to get halfway through Phantasy Star II (say it were shined up with pretty/modern graphics & cutscenes) without giving up because it's too long/slow. But to bash Silver Star Harmony like it's "Dragon Song" is way to harsh. -
I think this gets right to the heart of the situation. With Shadow Chronicles, Yune wrote himself into a pretty big black hole. The Alpha fighters ARE useless. The Shadow Alpha's are even more useless. The "colony" ship they left on has no guns, and it's doubtful they have much in the way of supplies. Even pit-stopping at Earth, it doesn't seem likely they took time to stock up on much, and even then, there's no "protoculture" left to fuel their endeavors. A future sequal would need a new tranformable fighter. Yune is incapable of designing this, and yet, they know their leftover fanbase will "not" accept a non-transformable fighter. Yune refuses to acknowledge his limitations, and hire someone ::gasp:: creative from outside to solve this problem for him. there will be no Shadow Rising until Yune figures out how to make a transformable fighter! And then explain where this magical new invention that runs on the Protoculture they don't have came from. Louie Nichols? Are we to believe he's the new robotech deus who can build anything their plot needs? What facilities on board their ship would they use to manufacture these fighters? Trials? Something that can beat their non-descipt level of enemy tech? Which is apparently still vulnerable against min-hand powered arms (ride armors). I can't help but think Kawamori secretly "does" follow this situation. He took the next logical step that Yune "should have" thought of, i.e. EX-Gears. Had Yune thought of that, it would have been derivative of Ride-Armor yes, but it would have also solved some of his plodding problems with a more direct interface for their pilots to Robotech to. But now he can't even dream of attempting it without fans calling him on an obvious foul. Check and mate! If only Yune had been brave enough to try what the Chinese did, which is ripping off real world fighter planes with derived transformations, but now Astro Plan has beat him to that punch. If he were smart, he'd use his last best chance, and go for a basic Zeta style flip transformation, and hope that Bandai/Sunrise won't go after him. A small ugly-ish fighter that folds in half for its transormation? Fans would accept that, but oh wiat, Kawamori's done that too with Eureka Seven... A Gattai fighter perhaps? Nope, Aquarion . perhaps a smaller mecha that ejects from a larger one..Kissdum... Maybe he can rip-off Starscream from the TF movies?

I'm up to the first character switch in XIII, and I really do have to wonder exactly what they were thinking. Beautiful game, sparse but interesting story so far....but why strip down the play mechanics like this & still use ATB? I hate turn based RPG's that are still turn based but tear out the heart of being turn based (i.e. attack you while you're issuing commands). Either go full action RPG and let me dodge, or leave the option to have the enemy wait until I'm done issuing commands. With that said, I do still like the game, but I'm very confused with where they were going. Dare i say they should have gone with a Bayonetta style engine if they really wanted it to seem more actiony, and drop the RPG thing all together if they didn't want to make an RPG. Damn, this game is pretty though Also boo! for lack of Japanese audio, really square?

It's not their fault. They don't have G.I. Joe to tell them not to do drugs. Hell, they don't even have the freakin' Gobots, poor kids. Back in our day, we had Turbo Teen to tell us that if you were stupid enough to drive your car through a mad scientist invention, you "WILL" turn into said car if you try to take a shower. But kids now, have you seen the garbage they have for cartoons?
-
And I say be a man, unless you truly do think Japanese kids are tougher than pansy-ass american kids.

Damn, I thought this was gonna be a summer release. With that said, I wish I could travel into next year to bring back a bluray!
