Crash was the birth of the divergent BGC. How different would things have been if fan outcry over the (true) rumors that Priss was going to die hadn't prompted the producers to force the staff into letting her live (and thus breaking up the staff) we'll never know. But I'm pretty sure we wouldn't have gotten the Crash/2040 zombie boomers! Besides, Largo killing Priss, and Vision taking her spot would have been an awesome ending for that episode.

Don't forget Sylia going completely batshit crazy, and the super aweful liquid hardsuits...wtf were they thinking? Hell, Mackey isn't even incestuous, wtf was the point in doing the remake if they were going to change Mackey? Wasted attempt was wasted. Burst Angel wasn't the best either, but it was a much better BGC knock-off.

I would take you much more seriously if you posted pictures of yourself in a bikini.

Yes, rename successful!!

Yeah, I remember the time I got banned from Robotech.com, it was.....wait a minute, I never did get banned, I got bored of the one reason I kept going back, i.e. logging in to get daily points, then logging back out...

As I said, "fanfiction", bleh!

Do you want....ZA POWA?! (I know that's Xenogears, but I get to reference Grahf so infrequently I couldn't resist).

The only thing lower than dub re-wrting of existing material (voltron/robotech) is fanfiction (robotech novels/comics)!
-
I wouldn't wave those robotech comics around as some kind of proof of success. The vast majority aren't even worth the paper they're printed on. And the sorry excuse for art that runs rampant in most of them looks like it was designed to match that mangled toyline. Same goes for those trashy fanfiction novels.

Live Action Space Battleship Yamato
Keith replied to capt.actionjackson's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I'm not worried about a starblazers version of the movie either, as Voyager Ent seems to have a much higher degree of sense than HG. The second scary thing were the awful designs in Nishiazki's Yamato Rebirth movie. Hell, that thing looks like it was done by whoever did "The Shadow Chronicles."- 450 replies

I know Voltron had a brief network saturday morning broadcast in the last decade, can't remember about an Adult Swim spot though. Robotech had a short ride on the Sci-Fi channel 15-16 years ago, and a brief Toonami stint.
-
Like it or not, Voltron rode the fire for its full 15 minutes. Robotech on the other hand barely started to smoke before being snuffed out. On the cereal scale, Voltron was far closer to getting one than Robotech will ever be.

Live Action Space Battleship Yamato

I'm terrified to see what those disc's will look like on an HD set. On an SD set, they were pretty much low end VHS masters that looked like 3rd generation copies, I don't know if I can bare an even worse look at them... Speaking of scary http://www.youtube.c...h?v=jheiEfGXQ6k- 450 replies

How popular was Voltron during its release? Moderately good if merch is any indication (which it is). Aside from the various import toys, there was a full U.S. toyline which included ugly chunky plastic lions that could fit in some ugly chunky plastic figures, a full castle playset, coloring books, underoo's, book + audio tape story books, really bad still picture video tapes of the aforementioned storybooks, etc. Robotech? The absolute worst excluse for a toyline ever. I mean really, has there ever been a more mangled toyline in the history of 80's toylines? Matchbox imported the transformable Macross. The chunky donky VF-1S/J monstrosity. And if Monster Squad is any indication, a small run of pajama's. There was also a vastly overpriced giant playset, but I can't imagine that was produced in any large numbers. I don't recall seeing any coloring books, but that isn't to say they weren't there. Fac to fthe matter is, Voltron had much better merch saturation than Robotech did. Oh, and the transformable hovertank..yek! I'm not going to count the re-pimping of the Matchbox toyline under the Exosquad name, since I can't imagine that was anything more than HG threatening to sue Universal, and agreeing to make some extr amerch money instead. Since the Revell Model line technically predates Robotech, I won't count that either. And as already stated, pop-cutlure has much fonder memories of Voltron, than it ever had of Robotech. The only 2 semi-recent claims to fame I can recall, are "My Time To Be A Star" being in Boogie Nights, and there's a shot of a VF-1 in Gerwalk in the Ren-Fair Vs Sci-Fi con episode of Home Movies (brawl at the end). Jury is still out on whether Space Ball-01 is a parody of the Macross, but I'll give the fanbase that one since it was '87. Even in sequal properties, Voltron was always stronger. Unlike the Sentinels, the Voltron movie was actually released sucessfully. (didn't say it was good). Unlike the Sentinels, a full production run of U.S. original episodes was made and released, using the original animation studio (not pirating like Robotech continued to do). And out of the gate (and thankfully cancelled after a season), Voltron 3D made a full production season while Robotech 3000 was killed before production got past the promo phase. Pound for pound, Voltron is the clear winner.

Live Action Space Battleship Yamato
Keith replied to capt.actionjackson's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Bah, Armageddon was nothing compared to Yamato. Armageddon only had one astreroid speeding towards earth. Yamato has dozens of radioactive meteros impacting Earth and devastating the environement forcing the reminants of humanity to hold up underground. Under these circumstances, this theme song should be at least 100x better than "Don't Wanna Miss A Thing." Also, no sign of Analyzer in the trailer makes me sad, who will try to peak up Yuki's skirt if he's not there?- 450 replies

I do not think that will result in the type of HD you think it will.

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v3.0
Keith replied to wolfx's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I just wish she had a player to watch it, as I'm sure it would have vastly broadened her fangirl horizons. -
Ok, then I'll forgive her for now, and hope that Big West's security goons don't ruff her up too much if she sneaks into the building.

"Tis that not the classic definition of a troll?

In that I see you have paid no attention to anything I said, I've been left with no option to mark you down as the troll you appear to be.

Machine translation here isn't helping so much. So let me say this to you. Big West & Studio Nue created "Super Dimension Fortress Macross." it has been settled in the Japanese court system that Big Wes & Studio Nue own full rights to the story, concepts, designs, scenario, etc, of "Super Dimension Fortress Macross." What Tatsunoko got, were international licensing rights to sell distribution of the completed animation for "Super Dimension Fortress Macross," and merchandising rights there of. At no point in time did Tatsunoko own the series, they just had rights to profit off of distributing the series. Harmony Gold never owned the series, they were only able to purchase what Tatsunoko had for sale, distribution rights for the series. Harmony Gold stepped out of their boundries, claiming ownership of the name Macross, and the designs from Macross, by filing U.S. copyrights. This would be the same situation as you lending a friend pictures of your children, then that same friend coming and taking your children away from you, because that picture of your children means they own your children. Bottom line, Big West has absolutely no reason to do business with Harmony Gold. Harmony Gold tried to steal from them, and now runs around threatening to sue any company that legally does business with Big West to bring Macross properties over that are "not" covered under Harmony Gold's distribution contract of the original series. Harmony Gold are thieves, pirates, and need to go away. They need to understand that attempting to blockade Macross in the U.S. hurts their business far more than it hurts Big West. They need to work on their own "original" Robotech productions, and try to profit off of things "they" create themselves. Aside from what you're proposing to do being impossible, it's highly illogical. What Big West needs isn't a mediator to help them deal with Harmony Gold. Big West needs Harmony Gold to stay out of their way, and leave the Macross franchise alone. I hope you can understand what I'm saying, as this is the only time I will say it to you.
