Gundam Show Thread - MSG thru GQuuuuuuX
Keith replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
No date on 0079 or Turn-A. HOpefully more info on both will come out during the con season. Hell, the 00 movie Bluray just got announced with a street date, speaking of which, I'd still like to see 00 TV on bluray.. There also hasn't been an official word on whether or not we're going to get the Doan's Isand this time or not.- 3717 replies

It's like the difference between the old Matchbox SDF-1, and Yamato's new 1/3000 Macross. Someday you will see.

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v3.0
Keith replied to wolfx's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
It's been licensed in the U.S. too. No street date yet though. -
I just don't see how this is an issue. It's not even remotely similar to a car not using gas. It's Sony's right to dictate what type of software runs on their hardware. And the fact of the matter is, the other OS feature was "software." No hardware capabilities were gimped by the removal, it still plays games, it still plays Japanese import games, it still plays bluraysj, it still browses the internet, etc. Hell, they've added far more features than they've taken away. -3D -Picture in Picture -HD audio -XMB while playing game -Friends List -Home (arguably useless however) -More video formats were added to the compatability list. ETC. None of these things were listed "on the box" when the system was released.

Sensative much? That was clearly a "Gran Torino" pun. Hell, the man directed "Letters From Iwojima." -
Other OS = Totally useless feature to begin with. Anyone buying a PS3 because they thought they could also use it as a PC could just as easily buy a cheapass netbook. Hell, go buy a freakin' Iphone, they're down to $50 now!

OT: I honestly don't understand why they can't just manufacture new shuttles, and update the avionics & whatnot. Yeah the current gen are worn out, but the design has shown to be sound, just make sure there's QC in the manufacturing of parts. -

Simply put, you can do whatever you want with your console, just don't expect Sony to allow it to be used with their service once you do. Sony says "we're disabling linux with the next firmware update." If you want to keep it, don't update, but don't expect it to run on the PSN either. You want to turn it into a George Foreman grill? Go right on ahead, but again, don't expect it to play games afterwwards.
-
And they failed to deliver!!
-
I'm really tired of this "by taking linx away" crap. it's as assinine as saying "Sony won't let me run Windows on my PS3." Yeah, difference is the feature "was" there, but for whatever reason, they decided to take it away, if I recall correctly, it was also hacker related. Bottom line, hacking a system goes against the terms of use. It's not a PC, it's a gaming console. This argument is way past stupid at this pont. There's absolutely no justification for what was done. Could Sony have beefed up their security more? Sure, I bet they very well could have. But the fault still lies with those that hacked & stole the info. Nothing Sony did "asked" for it. Nothing any user did "asked" for it.

I doubt any more of a deluxe release can be expected on bluray for Alien/Aliens, since the Anthology is already out there. Wouldn't make sense to include those extra bonus disc's with each version of the movie, when there's already a premium option out there. As for Raiders, you should be glad we're getting Star Wars as quickly as we are. Hell, I probably still won't believe it even when I have the box set in my hands. While sure, in theory, Lucasfilm should be able to handle the release of more than one major movie series at a ttime, bu tas we all know, they obviously can't. I'm sure it'll happen not long after SW though.

At least we get some animation in motion now. So it's cell shaded CG/2D mix. Honestly, the designs remind me of everything I hated about Transformers TAS, and those studio shots with the voice actors aren't helping much either. On the bright side, it looks like they're definately ignoring Voltron 3D. Dollars for donuts, I'm still far more impressed with Thundercats. In fact, after further review, #1 reason why I don't like this so far is: http://nicktoons.nic...ers/allura.html Reason #2: http://nicktoons.nic...rs/larmina.html "E-P-I-C" failure on the female designs. And WTF is transvestite Galvatron doing there? http://nicktoons.nick.com/shows/voltron-force/characters/commander-kala.html
-
I just really don't like that slip the disc into the page sleeve they sued for the full set. It would have killed them to use an actual hubbed case like the UK version. The only th ing we really miss by not picking up the full release, are two bonus disc's of extra doc's & such.

Already saw the first two, and see no reason to stop now. -
Again, whoever hacked the PSN could have targeted just about anything. They could have deleted the whole thing, they could disrupted it in several ways, etc. But specifically going after user info = the intent to sell it for profit/identity theft, etc. An attack on that info isn't an attack on Sony, it's an attack on users of the service plain & simple. You can dance around the issue all you want, but it's not an argument you're going to win.
-
Pretty sure each disc should have branching versions of the movies.
-
The user information was the target, end of story.

All HG had to do was work their license with a decent production company full of young people with new idea's. They refused and instead tried to build thier own production crew from scratch. All they wound up with were a bunch of lazy fanboy's sponging off the company without actually producing anything. This is why you don't let fanatical fringe actually become involved with something. Despite their obsession, htey have no idea how to create anything. It's like handing the keys to a fanfic writer, all they're going to do is rehash everything that came before, but even more stupidly. Good job HG, good job!

Gentlemen, the time has finally come. May 10th will finally see the release of Alien & Aliens on bluray. Finally a release for those of who who don't want all that extra crap included in the Anthology set.
