Macross Frontier Movie 2 thread - Now available on Blu-ray/DVD
Keith replied to Tochiro's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
The size & weight of the orders in those cases may have justified the upgrade. This won't be anywhere near the size and weight of a toy. -
Basara's appearance in battle as pointed out "was" a planned action. Project-M was initiated by Max. He gathered Chiba, Ray, Basara, Akusho, & the VF19 Kai into place knowing full well that Basara would go out into battle and sing. Basara didn't happen into the cockpit, he didn't steal his Valkyrie, it was custom designed "for" him, and Ray had several years to teach him how to fly it. That is no less a sanctioned military act than Minmay's singing, and is much more than Ranka & Sheryl's. Besides which, Bsara had pinpoint barriers, "if" he got inbetween Varuta firing on a pilot, and a pilot firing on Varuta, it's tot he pilot's benefit. And there's your own defeat to the claim that Basara has no growth arc TY

In SDFM, music moved the hearts of the 3 spies, who spread the influence through out the Britai Adoclas fleet, who decided to rebel and gave just enough intel & back-up for the Macross to survive Bodolza's attack. The distraction tactic was an aside to that, the real impact was when Minmay moved their hearts. Macross 7 is an evolution of tihs.

Yup. You've failed me for the last time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1QI4P0YqtM

If Chewbacca is a Wookie, and Wookies live on Endor, then it "does not make sense."
-
That's not true, THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE!
-
It's called "IFF" and he shows up on it. Never once is Basara shown to be the casue of another pilot being taken out, argument rejected.
-
Yup, they had no issue. Even Kinryu told Gamlin to calm down & STFU about it. Bottom line, Max sanctioned it. The fact that you ignore the broadcast issue is an issue with all Macross proves your lack of argument.

If oinly the exchange rate could have waited until after this movie came out to go to crap... -
Any other "Thing" fans out there?
Keith replied to HappyPenguins's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Well not now that we know the ending is crap. You tell them I demand the original ending be put back in for the bluray!! -
That wasn't their fault. The Haydonites attacked the boat from China carrying those toys.

Never watched any of the crispin glover doctor, decided to check this last ep. Disappointed that they didn't commit with the Orguss style storyline's ending.

I just remember fans creaming themselves when the robotech crystal dreams demo footage was leaked. Low standards in the fanbase were at an alltime low back then. Now I don't even know how you'd measure it.

That's the whole arc. Though there was the Gin-Rei special, but that took place inbetween. Actually, maybe that was released inbetween too.

A couple points. Basara didn't go on a journey because he refused to sing, he went on a journey to find sivil. As for not singing, Gepelnitch sealed his voice, he couldn't sing until Mylene broke the seal with her spiritia. Also, no one at any point in time died because of Basara, not one single person. The "only" pilot complaining about him was Gamlin, and that was because he was such a tight-ass. None of the VF-11 squads had any issue with him being on the battlefield. If anything, he made it easier for the 7 fleet pilots to sortie, since he served as an erratic target for the Varuta squads. Any complaints about his singing & broadcasting music on the battlefield should be directed towards Macross in general. Did Minmay get the Macross pilots killed during the fight with the Bodolza fleet? Did Sheryl & Ranka get the Frontier pilots killed?

I agree that 7 is awesome from the get go. Just strap yourself in and feel the G's.

He didn't learn anything? You guys really entertain me sometimes. You (not a personal you, but a general) often complain about whiny emo protagonists who go through th eusual whiny emo-protagonist circle of events. Finally you get a real hero who not only has all of his sh!t together to start with, but already knows what he has to do. Basara isn't some unsure " do I really have to fight" "I don't want to be doing this but I will find my reason" protagonists. He also isn't one of those "fighting is life, I though twhat I was doing was correct but have learned the error of my ways" antagonists. Basara is a "true" hero in that it's the rest of the universe that has to learn "his" lesson. And that's the way Macross 7 is told, with everyone else learning to see things his way, as opposed to the usual other way around.

Yeah, that's a prety crap kitbash. How long until Toynami mass-produces it?

Get's in the way during battle? BASARA SAVED THE ENTIRE FREAKIN' UNIVERSE!!

Battlestar Galactica Discussion IV with Blood And Chrome
Keith replied to 505thAirborne's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Alright, late to the party as usual, with the upcoming french bluray release of Caprica (apparently Universal U.S. says they have no current interest in a domestic release) I decided to check out the initial movie ($7.99 too). I like that they gave a mostly plausable explanation for the colonial cylons. It makes total sense now that they'd want to be human, have an obsession with the one god, and go on homocidal tantrums if they're based on a copy of a dead teenage girl who was involved with the one god cult. Definately a bit of backfill so far. I know the show itself got some pretty mixed reviews, and I've got some questions for those who have seen it.- 696 replies

I'm really surprised HG hasn't tried to hire someone to rip-off the artdink Macross PSP games yet. That would have been the most logical next step.

He's actually John Lennon mixed with Jimi Hendrix & mecha, not a giant robot.
