Star Trek Into Darkness, in theaters May 17, 2013
Keith replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Perhaps I should have been more speciifc, "fugly." As for Neelix, 6 seasons of annoying with 1 off doesn't top Jar Jar's ultimate smackdown of being the direct force causing the fall of the republic. That's hilarious irony!- 1020 replies

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Keith replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I really liked Casshern Sins until the completely not what I was expecting in a weak "did someone else take this over" ending. But it is still very pretty regardless. Blue 6 holds up well enough for an OVA, I still enjoy it at least. -

Jeni Ryan is ugly as sin, no matter how sin-tight her suit was, continued fail. Also, Neelix is at least 5 times more annoying than Jar Jar, so annoying even his wife left him.- 1020 replies

You guys are dirty F^cking liars! Robotech was a virgin birth. Carl Macek awoke one night to find that in his sleep he had created an animated masterpiece. He concieved, wrote, & animated the entirety of Robotech all by himself, and translated it to film all by himself. He took his finished product to Harmony Gold for music & dub recording (as that was apparently the only job he couldn't do by himself in his sleep). Any similarities to the Japanese animated programs "Superdimension Fortress Macross, Genesis Climber MOSPEADA, & Superdimension Cavalry Southern Cross" are purely coincidental, but due to said similarities some fool at Harmony Gold decided to license the shows to prevent legal disputes in the future. In 1987, Shoji Kawamori out of pure jealousy used his ninja skills to sabotage the production of the epic Robotech II: The Sentinels. Kawamori can't be blamed for "Robotech: The Motion Picture," since even Macek admits that "the world just wasn't ready for this epic piece of film, and likely won't be ready until 1999." The Wachowski Bros took heed of those words when translating "Robotech: The Motion PIcture" into live action, and fraudulently renaming it "The Matrix." Unfortunately, Macek was never able to pin the theft on them. in 2003, knowing that his days were numbered, Carl Macek had his soul transfered into the body of the only suitable candidate to carry his Katra, Steve Yun, so that he could continue his eipc legacy into the future. Unfortunately, the awekning of his spirit has taken some time, which is why the shell of Macek's essence remained around some years to guide his new awakening. But now that Steve "Carl" Yune has fully re-awakened, he's ready to continue his epic story forwards.

I'm excited, and also see no need for a SW Vs ST fight, because SW would clearly win as Voyager is far gayer than Jar Jar...- 1020 replies

Don't feel bad, I also got a Vita while completely ignoring the launch line-up. I just hope Gundam SEED Battle Destiny comes out by summer.
-
I find your lack of official licensed material support disturbing.
-
Transfer it from what? None of the artdink Macross or Gundam games have digital versions on the PSN.

Got my set, and it's pretty awesome. As someone on fandom.com posted, it's literally all the extra's from the R2 DVD set a few years ago + remastered picture & new science lessons (no subs ::sob::, but awesome none the less. And because I know there are people like me who want to know, I went and checked the chariot's of fire-ish song in episode one. Interestingly enough, the original audio (2.0) has the song exactly where it should be. However, the remastered audio has the Gunbuste rlaunch replacement that we got with our DVD's a few years ago. Now I don't feel so bad for getting slighted, since Gainax has now done the same with the Japanese market, be it only with the remastered soundtrack. Also of note, episode 6 is still windowboxed with the remaster, meaning that it's matted widescreen within a 4:3 window. The reason for this is apparently that the masters for the end credits got lost or somethin', but it basically means the movie bluray is the only version of ep 6 that's anamorphic (which is cool, since I own that!). The upside, the un-matted original printi s included in the extra's on the LE's bonus disc.

Pretty sure I just posted that they're not on the Japanese PSN. Only way to play Last Frontier is to import the Sayonara no Tsubasa bluray. Well that, or wait for the inevitable Vita game (hopefully within the year).

Actually, it's worked several times. -Amuro found his way out of A Baoa Qu because of newtype touchy feely stuff with Lalah, Kika, Katz, & Letz -Kamile took out Scirocco Paptimus because of his newtype touchy feely connection with damn near everyone who died. -Judau had his newtype abilities awakened via contact with Kamille -Newtype touchy feely stuff + psychoframe = saved Earth from Axis in Char's Counterattack.

Having played extreme pretty thoroughly, I can honestly say the engine still doesn't lend itself towards a Macross game. Arcadey styled twitch action Gundam yes, but the "Frontier" engine is much better suited to the more stratetic Macross styled combat & awesome missile locks. Don't get me wrong, I love Extreme Vs too, but it remains beam spam heavy, and get your ass handed to you if you miss-time a melee attack punish-ey.So no, it doesn't use the Extreme engine, it uses a higher end version of the same PSP mecahnics/engine. Yeah there's some slowdown, but it's still just a demo. No, it's not available on the Japanese PSN, you can only get Last Frontier with the Sayonara no Tsubasa bluray, but the campaign is plenty meaty for the demo that it is. As for the Ozma type YF-29, don't recall exactly how I got it (or the Ranika/Sheryl paint scheme for the Koenig Monster for that matter), but keep playing through/trying to SS rank missions, it's bound to pop up. You may need to clear all the custom(red) versions of the missions to get it.

Ah, but you know there's gonna be an awesome Unicorn/Banshee brawl in ep 5, and it'll be totally worth all the crying.

I will say, the more I watch these trailers, the more excited I get about this release. I just wonder how long it's going to take to come out, since that's directly proportionate to the time it would take to even dream of having it licensed.

IGLOO suffers from "you know exactly what's going to happen to the featured character" after the first episode or two, but it's got some pretty good battles.

We already know the answer to that, and it's -Whatever submarine Yamato was called -Odin: Starlight Mutiny -Yamato 2520 -Yamato Rebirth. Here's an interesting read from starblazers.com, an interview with Leiji Matsumoto. http://www.starblazers.com/html.php?page_id=549

If you're implying Yamato 2 somehow wasn't vastly superior to Arrividerci, then yes, yes we do.

Uh huh, the red white & blue aliens controlling space U.N. and oppressing the other space U.N. nations into being their own personal army wasn't abstract art dude. Blowing up the Yamato yet again would hardly make things any better. If you want to see Nishizaki at his worst, watch Arrividerci. If you want to see Yamato with Matsumoto fixing things, watch Yamato season 2. Same story, drastically different takes.

Contrasting the cute style with a dark story is exactly why it does work. -
Stretching things how, again, did you see Rebirth? I didn't say Yamato wasn't ripe for a reboot, I just wish they had kept Leiji Matsumoto involved.

Watch Yamato Rebirth. It's basically about Space America controlling the Space U.N. to stop the Space Middle Eastern people from taking in Earth refugee's (read Space Japan) after a moving black hole threaton's the planet. Space Germany (part of the Space U.N.) rebels against Space America, and get's taken out by them, the Yamato fights some more, and discovers that Space America is literally the interdimensional Space Devil (no seriously, this happens). The Yamato free's the Space U.N. & Space Middle Eastern planet from the Space Devil, and discovers that the moving black hole is actually a portal to Space Hell. During the course of the film, Yuki dies for absolutely no reason (she technically dissapears, but when the Space U.N. attacks her ship, only her hat is found). The only other blonde female aboard the Yamato also dies pretty nastily while fighting the portal to Space Hell, since someoen thought it'd be a good idea to stock the auxilery target, I mean bridge with an all female astro-mapping crew. The End. Seriously, this is 100% the plot of Yamato Rebirth..

No, definately not the same staff that worked on Rebirth. And more importantly, Nishizaki is gone, as is his irrational hatred of the U.S. & blonde women (well, you've seen Rebirth, you know), so this should be straight up Yamato. I'm digging the preview, though it is jarring to see Matsumoto styled ships with generic character designs. I wouldn't import this, but I'd sure pick it up if it gets licensed.
