That's stupid, open the damn box already! The plastic flap is on the left side of the box in case you can't find it....
-
You can still download the game, you'll just have to purchase a Japanese PSN card to pay for it first.

When Was the Song "DYRL?" First Sung (In-World)?
Keith replied to BEAST's topic in Movies and TV Series
Macross 7 had a pretty strong take on this issue. Considering the time that had past, and the popularity of DYRL, the "legend of Minmay" overshadowed the actual facts. Basically meaning that (in universe) DYRL was such a powerful movie that people believe it to be the real version of events. -
I've only watched about a 3rd of the series so far, but after this I'm gonna have a hard time watching the animeigo set. Even though it doesn't have subtitles, the detail is too awesme to want to go backwards in PQ.
-
Yup, it'll be playable on the PS3 & PSP (possibly vita sometime in the near future), but the free code only comes iwth the LE version of the pack.

Macross Plus also references DYRL as a movie "in universe." -

Except that's only true within the DYRL film continuity and or if you accept the "if you view things this way" theory. Otherwise it could very well have been a Minmay song put out sometime before the Megaroad-01 disappeared. The real confusing comes in when you wonder "if" that Protoculture ship really was found surfaced after the survivors started settling back on the Earth. -

A little more than a week and Gundam SEED Battle Desitny will street. The official site has tons of pic's in the MS section http://gbd.channel.or.jp/ And from the looks of it, everything and the kitchen sink will definately be in this game, with no sign of DLC BS. Lacus(Meer) Zaku? Yup, it's in there. Some crazy Windum that looks like the V2? Yup, that's in there too!- 6837 replies

For some reason I'm getting a heavy "Gurren Lagann" vibe from those "Iron Patriot" pictures.

You do realize that you're opening "TEH CANON CAN OF WORMS" You will get two answers here: 1:Kawamori says that things happen this way if you look at it like this, and that way if you look at it like that. 2:Real canon answer, Minmay likely never sang DYRL since the Megaroad-01 disappeared "long" before the release of the film in 2031. The best scenario you can hope for is that it was a song she released on an album before the Megaroad-01's disappearance, otherwise the song was actually performed by the actress playing Minmay (or a computerized representation of Minmay) for the film. Choose your favorite answer, and choose wisely. -
It'd probably be more accurate to calll it grain & film scratches, but Japan has gone pretty DNR happy in recent years, so I think it's to get away from that bad trend. And honestly, the release is better for it.

Yup, only 16 minutes of pachinko game footage, but it's awesome. As for the remaster, I can't believe the level of detail in the picture. Yeah it's a bit dirty, but it's damn near like looking at the frames themselves.
-
I doubt they're going to cut the animation budget, I think the 2 episdoes per for the first couple volumes is to help with the production schedule.

If you've ever seen Star Trek III, the whole Excelsior scenario is lifted directly from Yamato II/Arrividerci. The previous hero ship (Yamato/Enterprise) is mothballed despite its recognized service. In leiu of repairing it, it's pushed out of the way of the new badass ship (Andromeda/Excelsior). The preivous ship's engineer (Sanada/Scotty) takes a position aboard the new ship to sabotage it while the old crew get's back together to get the old ship running for an emergency mission. In both cases hilarity ensues as the much regailed new battleship mysterious has a breakdown and is unable to persue the hijacked old ship. And strangely in both cases, the Andromeda & Excelsior stand out as some of the most striking ship designs in either franchise.

Worst Science Fiction Film of All Time II: The Quickening
Keith replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I don't see how anyone could like Sky Captain. Aside from the ending "twist" being telegraphed from the first minute of the film (i.e. the mad scientist is actually dead and his machiens are running amok), it was like watching Flash Gordon without any of the redeeming camp.- 854 replies

You just now figured out Tygra was an ass? That's pretty much why he got what he got this episode, he was acting like his usual a-hole self and it backfired on him. As for Pumyra, I'm not sure what's confusing to you there, that's a totally realistic depiction of an irrational woman. Hot for you one minute, cold the next. I'm not surprised at all that Lion-O's progress keeps resetting.

Nice to see it without all the interlacing of the first PV, looks like everything is set for an awesome release.

Here's A comparison with some of the previous releases including the animeigo remaster. http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/video/_video_dvd_comparison040.htm

That's already been discussed. That's the usual amazon rating spam about being too expensive and whatnot before it was even out. And those picture's are spectacular. Any more questions from the peanut gallery about whether or not a 30 year old show can benefit from a fresh new HD remaster?
