...this is irony.

(Not too keen on reviving this ol' thread) Here's something I've been wanting to do for a long time now; a variable SU-27 Flanker. Why I hadn't actually put this into fruition is because I am by nature a lazy bum. Here's some backstory if you don't feel like trying to decipher my cryptic handwriting: The SV-27 was born from a captured SU-27 in use by the Karma Air Force. Originally destined to be refitted with standard Hydrogen Jet Engines, it was instead heavily modified to include the Roland-Kovacs variable system and electro-armor plating. Now with the ability to thrust-vector, and with added armaments such as a laser comm array, two small pulse lasers, and a stowable gunpod, along with original systems such as the IR tracking dome and the unique helmet-mounted "shlem" sighting system, the SV-27 is a one of a kind weapon, both graceful and incredibly deadly. The pilot is Maj. Walter Kovacs of the PLNAF. His colorscheme (not shown), consists of a very dark gray to black variation of the classic Flanker camo scheme, with red trim on the rudders and nosecone. The transformation sequence is very similar to the 1/48 VF-1 method of a single swing bar locking to the nose in robot mode. There is no heatshield, and the original airbrake has been moved forward to make room for the head. This in turn provides a static heatshield for the cockpit canopy.

That's a VOTOMS Brutishdog, not a Gundam. Significantly smaller, and discussed before. Still neat as ever. EDIT: Beaten to it!

Star Trek: The Motion Picture did this already. Turned out to be V'Ger all along.

They made an unofficial trailer a while back (Review with pictures), but it was pretty expensive. 329785 That's for the big Masterpiece Prime though, this is the little Robotmasters guy. They do share a striking resemblance though. 329801 Whoops, somehow my obviously drug-addled brain mistook RM for MP somehow.

Is it me, or does Snake look more like Solidus than Ocelot? Eyepatch, gray hair, moustache, funky suit...

Wait, I thought they only made the boots for the VF-19s? I've never heard of a 17 boot, much less a D version.

Not to be a dick or anything, but IMO you should have just imported the GF version; it has a MUCH snazzier paint job. Observe: Versus: If you want the regular sized Starscream, then you're going to have to either import it, buy the TRU box set (If you don't mind another Vector Prime or an oddly colored Starscream), or keep on hoping that Hasbro will release a normal sized Starscream in original colors.

Blog and webcam feed from the guys who run the server for Something Awful. Read it, it's an incredibly detailed description of the incredible shitstorm that's brewing in Orleans. What seriously pisses me the fart off is the absolute lack of any kind of government intervention; FEMA and the National Guard have proven themselves to be all kinds of useless, and here are the politicians just congratulating themselves on a "job well done" while people are flat out DYING in NO. The real military only started moving in YESTERDAY. Before that, the Natl. Guard was dropping food and supplies off BRIDGES. No one could approach them without getting a gun aimed at them. Christ.

I was wondering when this club would publicly announce itself. I for one enjoy anime as a part of the whole genre of animated films/television, and I absolutely despise it when some self-righteous anime-jerk takes it upon himself to extoll the virtues of Nipponese animation techniques and how they are utterly and completely superior to all other forms of animation (which they will then denounce as mere "cartoons.") Coincidentally, these are also the same people who strut around and speak whatever new phrase they learned from "crappy Japanese cartoon of the week #479," like they know the language by heart. People, let's face it; despite the slightly better storytelling of the quality Anime out there (which is completely offset by the teeming mass of crap that most watch), the quality of the animation rarely matches up to US or French or even Korean animation. Does it really pain you so much to admit that Japanese animation really isn't that high-quality? Is it such a foreign concept to you that the quality of Japanese animation, like all other animation in the world, is a direct reflection of the budget that goes into it? Can you not realize that there is no such thing as "anime-style," because applying an artistic style to a gigantically encompassing genre is completely moronic? Yes, I am a proud member of this club, then.

Are we confusing Macross with Robotech again? Toynami is making a Beta, and they've already got all four manned Alpha variants released (Though with dubious quality control) And I agree with Graham; we need less VF-1 and more VF-4, VF-5000, VF-17D/S, and YF-19FP.

I don't know why, but the concept of BT* is starting to grow on me. I do have to wonder where the girls go mid-transformation, though, it seems painful. And Soundwave is seriously bitchin'.

Lawl. I saw this one at A-Kon in DFW. In my opinion, it's the best robot cosplay I've seen anywhere.

Roy was so distraught after Aries' death, he decided to do the manly thing and grow a mullet. Someone forgot to tell him that they go on the back of your head.

If memory serves, the VF-0 is comparable in size to the F-14, making it significantly larger than the VF-1. My guess on this is because of the testbed status of the zero, and the tons of experimental overtech they tried on it. Think of the VF-1 as a compact, streamlined version with alot of the toys taken out (like the active stealth system).

How do you make Japanese TV animation cheaper than it already is? TV anime is already horribly underbudget and pathetically produced. -
All I want is a 1/60 VF-4, and I can die happy. Couldn't possibly be that hard, since the thing was supposed to be almost half VF-1 parts, right? VF-5000 couldn't hurt either...

I wouldn't say that the shokini's are "ripoffs" of stikfas per se. From what I have seen, the only similarity is that both are highly articulated action figures with the possibility of customization. However, from what I've seen of them, it doesn't appear that the shokinis have the ability to swap out limbs and body parts with the same versatility as the stikfas' universal balljoint. They also have a distinct lack of unique accessories that the stikfas and xevoz sets are famously replete with. EDIT: Whoa, just saw the date of the first post. Talk about thread necromancy.

This is the most classic line ever: "Danger! We have incoming triangles!"

I love this part:

I seriously doubt that this film will amount to anything, especially given that Alan Moore has personally disowned the film, and strayed away from Hollywood for good. source

Definetely seconded. The 08MS vs Apsalus II was pretty killer too.

What is this ridiculous fool trying to do? Oh wait, that's me.
