Yeah, Bandai version all the way. It's probably good to get him something the comes with a nice base so he will get use to always puting some back in the right place after he's done with it. I would say go for the "special version "

I think it just shows how good the Yamato V2 really was. I thinking in some way Bandai is still trying to perfect the swing leg transformation of the VF-1. Which they release the model version. But it was not very stable, so they will need to rework it some more. Once they finally figure out a good way to make it work. they will be able to once again label it "Perfect transformation" similar to their other premium Chogokin.

you should check out Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry 01 too. They are very similar for now. -
Starting from a standard main character vf-1 is a safe start , but it could just be a bandai thing , I mean how many RX-78 did they make? Lol. But just because it started with the vf-1 doesn't mean it only stay in SDF or DYRL . I won't be surprise once the line becomes stable they will start making other Valkyries. I'm pretty sure bandai made enough vf-25 to be tempted to make one or a couple in this line too . If anything Bandai always seems like they will go the extra mile to test their own engineering skills.

I wonder how many you can fit for register SAL. I assume at least 2, bu if Bandai pack them standing up, it might not fit 3.

I didn't get my Hi-metal yet because I cheap out on the shipping. lol and my Revoltech in playing hide and seek with me in those brown boxes. but here's some anymoon pics that you can use for reference. The Hi-metal is around the same height as the Toynomi 1/100. It's too small to really fit in, maybe in the background. But the Toynomi Regult is pretty big too, if the Hi-metal is around the same size it's probably why it's at a higher price range due to size. With preorder discount it'll probably be around 5800yen.

If anything Cdjapan packaging is very good , they bubble each box and they fill all space with paper ,so your box is always sharp Since they are already charging this much on end shipping you might as well see what else they have on sale and add those in so save a bit on the high shipping . If you get 2 Valks it's 8800 yen or 3 Valks it's 10600 yen . They also have the gunbuster for 17600 yen with expensive shipping of course but if you combine them the shipping is 10000 yen They also have reward points so the valk should give you 378 and 500 bonus which is like 878 yen and more points if you buy the gunbuster or other items

This line for Macross is like the Robot spirits / damashii line for Gundams, but with a little premium added due to transformation. Robot spirits stuff transforms too but many part swapping is needed , sometime almost everything is disassemble and reassemble, lol. The price point fits right in too It's not made to be a collector class line like Dx chogokin or Gundam lines like Metal build / metal composite . The original line ended short due to all those clearance sales from Yamato , but with the current price of Valks it's actually more tempting and very competitive . Bandai is also bring more to the table with new Valks and Zenni's. I hope they will eventually make a vf-25 for this line.

probably not in the same grayish-white, bandai have always make the VF-1S Hikarus whiter.
