Carl Macek says: It was always my belief that Minmei's immediate popularity onboard the SDF-1 was a bitter pill to swallow. Therefore, if her "talent" was marginal - but her "spirit" was high - it could show that even misguided personalities like "Minmei" could have a positive effect on people and dramatic situations. Melodrama is made up by extremes - and Robotech was played as melodrama - remember these characters are archetypes. So Macek made "Minmei" annoying and talentless ON PURPOSE? ARGH!

very first episode - the pilot before they got their own series. it told the story about how that guy got the mega, etc. and yes the finishing blow was the Yamato popping out of its chest and putting the old wave motion gun action smackdown on the enemy!

the best image was Sara checking out the Monster through her "Kadun-vision" - that was some scary-arse crap. The Monster had some serious evil Kadun mojo swirling around it.

just watched the whole NLA sub again. just renewed my love for this movie. how can anyone NOT LOVE MINMAY? she just got all kind of dissed all the way through, and had very natural emotional responses to everything - even her jealousy, etc. but her response in the end to decide to sing and back up her convictions shows that she was just as brave as those in the military in her way. power of love baby! and the subs were an easy read, and the subtitled songs were a plus. it really got you into the movie more - even accurately subbing the parts spoken in english accurately enhanced the flavor of the movie and got you into it.

i really like this one - and the sound is great - minmay's concert has great concert reverb i never heard before. audio and video is nice and clean, as are the subs. grats!

IT IS SO FLCL. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it is NOT "Gunbuster." I just liked the nod to Kiki's Delivery Service. Jiji. anyone? Or it could be Sailor Moon too - talking black cats are all the homage! I guess we Americans weren't the only ones to get the obvious joke about "topless" - building into the first episode like that, plus mirroring our fave heroine's last act in Gunbuster 1, was a nice touch. Still love the music.

Done! This is SO "FLCL" it's not even funny! She even rides a Vespa with the scarf and helmet and goggles like a certain someone...and yes the buster machine has a FACE ARRRGHHH. Animation is pure FLCL is style. Well it is Gainax after all. It reminds me of Gunbuster hmm, about 1% - the part where they play the soundtrack and screenshots of the original gunbuster in the intro lol.

Your work is amazing as usual! Viva La Viverator!
