If you have the AnimEigo dvds you can easily tell which ones where done by the respective studios. Or if you want you should be able to find the linear and production notes online. If not, there is bound to be someone here who is kind enough to investigate this information and list it for you. However, IMO you can tell just by watching which episodes from the tv series used subpar animation.

I agree they have terrible subs, but with enough practice you can fill in the grammatical gaps. Watching it raw might be too much. If you can find the fansubs go to town. Enjoy! I actually enjoyed and agreed with the philosophical discussions Sara brings up, but that is just moi.

Single but actively dating which as E_D is also costly. I am an anti-completist! Quality over quantity! I can afford buying multiples of the 1/48s but WTF for? I fund it by saving and selling items that I do not "need". For the right price I can completely walk away from my various collections. Your mileage may vary but this works for me. lastly, as much as I enjoy Macross there is a hell of a lot more to actually LIVING life than collecting/hoarding toys!
