Great pics and it's amazing you did all that work in such a short amount of time. -
I like it. Any chance of seeing it in plane mode?

The Official Aim for the Top! Gunbuster Thread
Fortress_Maximus replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Ask I thou shall recieve. My friend shares my fandom of Gunbuster, so he showed me a link to a photoshot a con friend of his did. http://lionboogy.livejournal.com/274928.html#cutid1 Also: http://members.cosplay.com/costume/40420/gallery/ http://members.cosplay.com/costume/40922/gallery/ So great to see Gunbuster cosplay, especially when it's done this well. 374754 Mind if we add these to the GB group over at Yahoo? -
Nice. I've got a couple of Macross records myself. Was visitng Amoeba Records on Sunset Blvd in LA and was just going through their stock and was very surprised to find them there. I picked them up just for the heck of it not really intending to collect them. But lately I've been playing with the idea of hunting some more of the vinyl down. The sleeve art is just so cool. 378685 I agree the sleeveart is quite beautiful for the LPs and the LDs too! With prices declining these might make nice collectibles that you can decorate your abode with.

Yes a 16mm film strip of Minmei singing or in the shower nude would be expense, but hardly priceless. Usually a single cel from either of those sequences commands well over 4K and the gengas more. But the closest things that I've found that came even close to being priceless, were original Mikimoto paintings and sketches from Macross and the runner up was GunBuster OVA sketches of Noriko. Most of these items have a price, question is ... can you afford it. As we all know, there are some really well funded collectors in JP.

Why do you boycott AX? 377873 Not to derail the thread too much... basically I boycott AX b/c of the poorly trained staff and the poor internal decisions involving the directors (current and past). Over the years as AX has grown they've encountered more and more problems and I mean PROBLEMS that have not been fixed! Everything from the basics, which IMO should be handled regardless of the size of the con. I.e: people with advance registrating who still are forced to wait 2+ hours; people obtaining raffle tickets for signatures by guests of honor, only to end up getting kicked out by poorly trained staff/volunteers who refused to honor them; failure by staff to regulate/organize the horrible crowd control; staff telling dealers to remove certain items b/c non-con attendees would be harmed/offended; staff not knowing where or when events will occur (and being unable to obtain the necessary information too, they have walkietalkies but no one knows sh*t); inadequate sized rooms for video/film showings, the list goes on and on. I don't know about others, but when I go to a con I don't expect it to go flawlessly but certain BASICS should be properly handled. If I wanted to be treated like a bloody cow, I can wait at the DMV instead of paying well over $600 (just for the flight and lodging) to be treated as such! Your mileage may vary, but I for one refuse to ever go back to any AX unless a guest of honor I really want to see is present.

I had tixs but didn't go, had other things to do.

Nice work polidread. Got any females? I.e. Minmay, Misa, Millia artworks you can share?

Really like the Mazinger collection you have! Nice to see them with the Macross goodies. -
I'd love the hear the distinction between toy hoarding and investing. Hoarders listen up.
-
I wouldn't call them silly anymore than I would call hoarders or completionists silly. Some people place a higher priority than others on collecting toys. Going into debt over toys, THAT is silly. If toys were but one small sliver of someones investments then no, I wouldn't call them silly. But if they are insufficiently funding their retirement or failing to take care of financial necessities (i.e. debt, loans, mortgages etc) at the cost of toys, now THAT is beyond silly... it is stupid. Dude Yamato will milk the cashcow as much as it can, so do not worry they will reissue and repaint them as much as they can. There is practically no issue with stock. If you miss out the first time or so just be patient, save up your monies and buy the next time around. Yamato is a business not a non-profit charity, they are in it to make MONEY. If you want reasonable prices having people buy more and more would help lower prices. But you know darn well they are not going to lower their prices. After all, why should they when they have a rabid fanbase that will pay their asking prices? Back on topic, I think the toys will still be worth something but I don't think they will rocket in price the way the 1/55s use to before the NET. We live in an age where it is so much easier to find rare toys now compared to a decade ago. In 20 years I think there will still be collectors who might pay the current LV prices, but beyond 30 years I become less optimistic. Bottomline, I think demand will diminish as those of us in our 30s start to have greater priorities in life. And for the current teen aged collectors, they might be the main hope for the 1/48s, unless the redubs by Mari incite a whole new generation of fans.

Much better than the LV v2 IMO. I'd actually seriously consider getting one of these. -
DB those imperfections are hardly noticable. As someone else mentioned you are far too hard on yourself! This custom and others you have done and are kind enough to share are beauts! Congrats on a fine job.

Indeed! Less IS more! great customs D! no hes not, there are others who choose not to speak up that are truly king 377703 Wouldn't be surprised at all. There is bound to be someone else who collects JMs as well AND actually has deep pockets to afford it. Pat does not have deep pockets, well they might be deep but not with money. 377724 deep enough to have more JM's than you! haha. Yeah, I'm probably second from what I know of who has the most JM's. I'm trying to beat that record. hehe. 377732 Pat, I never want as many JMs as you! Especially considering I do not even own ONE JM yet, your "deep enough" claim doesn't mean much. There is a vast difference between having ample funds to spend, actually spending it or deciding not to. I prefer not to spend mine. For myself less is still more; I am more than content with just one JM either Roy or Hikaru. Besides I've got a dozen other things I'd rather invest my monies in. I'll leave the mass closet collecting to peeps like you.

Awaiting pics.

Excellent work! Glad to see some Monster customs finally! I hope people create more, a LV v2 Monster would be interesting to see too!
-
I boycott AX so I won't be going and I am not interest in SDCC enough to attend. As things stand I might even be unable to attend b/c of work, but if I was free I would avoid any days that coincide with the cons simply b/c of the housing and airfare concerns. Just my two cents.

Ain't that the truth?!

Kawaii! Another great custom DB!

Wouldn't it be nice if Yamato had a frequent buyer club? Preorder four or more of the upcoming products and get... well something.
-
From one reformed addict to a potential one, do NOT start! It is MADNESS I tell you, MADNESS!!
-
Sure if you think they will actually listen. Couldn't hurt. Personally I am waiting for the ThunderHammer or whatever heck it is called, you know what custom I am talking about!
