Generally do not care for the mail away or exclusives unless they really look amazing! Personally find it very hard to justify buying anything more expensive than a regular 1/60 valk anymore in this hobby with the rare exception of original artwork and production cels. I do see the future direction for many toy companies heading towards limited editions and mail away. As others stated the companies do need to find ways to reward local customers and to entice them to buy more in the hopes they can obtain a limited release. As for myself, will I buy any? Highly unlikely, which I think is a good thing b/c it saves me monies and gives others a better chance too.

I too enjoyed the movie and have no intention to read the comic. Concur with Mr. March the film does provoke the audience to consider is it wrong to want to help others? And is something wrong with people if they do not want to help others in need? However the film becomes a bit too predictable and the highly stylized violence made me wonder at what point would Kick Ass & Hit Girl become wanted by law enforcement? They became vigilantes much like the MacManus brothers in the Boondock Saints and yet I felt the Kick Ass film did not push the real hot button per se. This is one thing I feel the original Boondock Saints film closed strongly with and that was the question, under what conditions is vigilantism acceptable? Would the public even tolerate the actions of Kick Ass given the widespread murders? However, I stopped mulling these questions once the popcorn was gone.

Saw it and the battles just did not seem epic compared to Braveheart, King Henry VI, or Gladiator. The acting was adequate but the story was rather boring. There were a few gotcha moments but otherwise I could not empathize with any of the characters.

Completed watching "Ip Man 2" and I agree the overall story was simplistic but I solidly enjoyed the film. Sammo's portrayal of renowned Hung Ga master Hung Chun-nam had the best development and despite his gruff exterior, Hung proved his impressive dedication to protecting the Chinese wushu spirit and cultural honor. Yes this was done at the cost of vilifying the Japanese and British, but it is not the first if we recall Jet Li's classic portrayal of Wong Fei Hung in the 1990s "Once Upon A Time in China" film. One thing Ip Man 2 did not skimp on was the solid showcasing of the Hung Ga and Wing Chun styles. Donnie's fights with Sammo were awesome! My only concern in the film was the overuse of wirework in martial art choreography. For exaggeration and dramatic affect limited wirework helps enhance but overuse made certain fights comical. As for surprises during the climatic battle between Ip and Twister, I was definitely surprised he used relatively high kicks considering Wing Chun traditionally strongly emphasizes lower placed kicks. Those low kicks to the legs and knees are absolutely devastating and pack explosive power arguably moreso than the palm knives. Nevertheless it was a sheer delight to see Ip ultimately combine his Wing Chun with Master Hung's Hung Ga during the climatic battle; sharp eyes will notice the classic Tiger Crane paired fists, Double Bow fists, and others. For martial arts fan IP MAN 2 is a must see film.

Cool! Really looking forward to seeing Donnie Yen's final performance in IP MAN. Dude has so much talent and it seems he is finally getting the credit he deserves! Also Donnie has already confirmed he will not do a IP MAN 3.

Anyone watch IP MAN 2 yet? My friends say it is great if you enjoyed the first one.

Podcast: Aim for the Top! Gunbuster: The Movie
Fortress_Maximus replied to Ginrai's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The podcast sounds promising. Thanks! Oh and while I cannot speak for Noriko, I definitely understand what he is trying to share. It would be nice to keep ALL things GunBuster related in the one existing thread b/c individual threads tend to get lost over time. Also adding to an existing thread makes searching for related GB content news, toys, updates easier. Just my ten cents. As far as I am concerned any GB coverage/discussion is great news! Looking forward to more podcasting goodness. -

Looks like the anime might be catching up with the manga already. How sad. BL really has a lot of possibilities, hope the manga continues and eventually leads to a movie.

Any news on which weekends in March are better for most? -
Such a pity! Well at least there is a small sliver of hope to find production cels even if they are close to 1k or higher.

Wow those pics look great Totoro242! Thanks for sharing. If you got more pics, please post! Just wish those original filmstrips were available for purchase like cels.
