I think it probably comes with the normal stand as well. The normal stand is packed with the VF-1 and the special stand is in the second box.

Same here. I'm sure I'll be hoppin' aboard the hype train for this one. Assuming I can get a preorder.
-
I'm thinking the same. However, in the blurry magazine shot that shows back of the nosecone it looks like there is still a gap there for the t-bar to come through. I'd really like to see a better scan of that page.
-
I think the odds of there being other color schemes released is about the same as the odds of the sun coming up again tomorrow. I'm going to sit this one out until the VF-1S Hikaru Strike is released. I'm not sure I want to diverge from 1/60 since it took so long to force myself to focus on only 1/60.

I can definitely identify with that. My Macross collection v4.0 is four VFs in a display where, due to space restrictions, two have to be fighter mode and the other two can be battroid or gerwalk. Once I get a couple of good battroid/gerwalk poses I have to work to convince myself to rotate the display. Thankfully it is my four favorite VFs so I do eventually get the urge to see the other modes.

For me it is the sense of discovery. Seeing the cleverness of the design as it naturally unfolds rather than having the cleverness spoiled by first seeing it in the instructions. Another factor is that my aging eyes just can't read the instruction sheets anymore. I do always use the videos for Macross stuff since it tends to be more complex and much more risk of damage compared to a $20 Transformer.

I'm just using the regular version since Anakin didn't have the red eyes in the duel. Not to mention that my shelf isn't tall enough to allow for the nifty stand. Luckily Rey has the swooshy blue saber so I'll probably try to pick up one that's been parted out once the prices come down. -

Looks nice. Jabba's Palace has always been my favorite look for Luke followed closely by the final duel and Endor. I wish they would have started the swishy saber with Anakin. I want to have a display with Anakin and Obi-Wan fighting. -
I'd always use HLJ, but I generally can't since a lot of people use them as a backup and are much better than me at getting an early order in. The orders do tend to open up from time to time as people cancel but that requires constant watching and I just don't have time for that. For the VF-31S I resorted to eBay using one of the recent coupons so I could put in an order and forget about it.

I did have a hard time trying to get the locking tabs to snap in for the wing boosters. I figured it was an alignment issue. I guess I need to take a look and see if I need to tweak them. I never cared much for the fast packs on the YF-19, but I immediately loved the addition of those wing boosters for Frontier.
-
Just transformed my VF-19 to fighter mode mode with the fast packs for the first time. What a pain in the patokee! Took me forever to get everything to come together on the legs. It was worth it since it looks great now that I have it done.

New addition to my sabers. My latest Macross acquisition is unfortunately waiting for me at work. Won't get it until Monday. -

My triumphant* return to Macross collecting. * OK, maybe 'painfully expensive' is a better adjective. -
Hmm, I'm thinking I need to stop reading this thread until I finish up the last four episodes of Delta.

Not sure if I'm glad that I saw this or not. Found what I was looking for, but I wasn't planning to spend more money this month. -

I've managed to get sucked back in after trying to escape a couple of times. I've got a VF-25S Renewal and VF-19 DX on the way. I'm looking for a full armor for the VF-25S at a price that isn't multiples of what I paid for the valkyrie itself! My holy grail is a 1/60 Hikaru Strike. I've never been too keen on the Yamato/Arcadia v2. Hopefully Bandai will eventually do something. This hobby is still a heck of a lot cheaper than my photography hobby. -
I've been working through the same thought process. For me it finally came down to the fact that I like the Frontier style boosters on the Advance. I'd never display the YF-19 it with the fold booster or missiles attached so that would just be more stuff to clutter the shelves. I do prefer the split canopy of the YF-19, but I'll rarely have it open. The markings can go either way. The UN SPACY and kite deco are classic but I also like the SMS markings since I really enjoyed Frontier.
-
What are the improvements on this one vs the VF-19 Advance aside from the new goodies like the fold booster and missiles?
-
I've had - and sold - most every version of the VF-1 out there. Plenty of other VF types as well. Most recently I had the Yamato Hikaru VF-1S STRIKE+ displayed along with the Bandai Hi-Metal VF-1S. The Yamato just stood there (when it wasn't trying to fall over backwards) while the Bandai was always in all sorts of dynamic poses and great flying angles. The Yamato rarely got transformed since the swing bar and getting the shoulders into or out of place for fighter mode were an absolute PITA. The Bandai got transformed constantly - even though the leg came off each time. The Yamatos are a nice piece for display (great markings and coloring) while the Bandais are fun toys that can also look great on display. I'm an idiot so I'm getting the urge to have a VF-1S in my collection again. Mostly to have a toy to tinker with and regularly transform between modes and pose. I've decided to go with the Hi-Metal Hikaru Strike since the Hi-Metal was the most enjoyable that I've owned. Especially with the Bandai stands.
-
At this point I think I'm just too old for this hobby since I have absolutely no thrill of the hunt and don't need more pieces of injection molded plastic and low grade metal in my life.
-
Shouldn't have to chill. I should be able to put in a preorder without needing to keep hours that would make Batman proud. Bandai has been doing this crap for too long now so my impulse money will be going elsewhere.
-
I had the VF-1S from the first incarnation of this line but later sold it when I was cutting the collection back. When I saw this one I was thinking it would be fun to have since the Hikaru colors are my favorite. Unfortunately, I have now been reminded why I no longer collect Bandai.
