  1. Looks to me like the air brake is functional. The tape looks to be holding some pieces in place and there's a couple pieces of tape on the air brake.
  2. Looking at the backpack piece shown in the picture it looks like the same design can be used on the A, S and D. Looks like the D tail fins are attached to the usual place on the backpack via a linkage. Or maybe the linkage goes somewhere under the backpack. You can see where the A/S style tails would attach to the backpack piece shown in the picture. I haven't had a Zero in a number of years so I can't do a direct comparison, but looking at the picture it seems like the D model has the moveable air brake and removable forward section of the conformal tank (this allowed swapping with a piece that had a mount point for the missile pod). After looking at the Zero pictures on AnyMoon I can't say that I can see any differences in the backpack, back panel, head-hole panel or chest. That's not to say that this mold isn't an improvement since the pieces I had the most problem with on the Zero were the shoulders and ankles and I can't make any judgements about those from this picture.
  3. Haul so far this year. Next up is a 1/60 YF-21 followed by the new YF-19 and YF-29 Ozma.
  4. The first picture is what immediately came to mind when I say your display. I like that you took the picture through the gantry in order to evoke that cramped feeling.
  5. I believe that the original version of the 1/60 with the FAST Packs and stand came in the 3 vertical stripe style box. Did the Renewal version ever come in the stripe style box?
  6. I've never noticed that. I find that the gerwalk is one of the best, if not the best. The shoulders tend to be less restricted than a VF-1. Although I have to admit that I like doing the gerwalk with the wings swept up a bit.
  7. One reason why I love the VF-25 is that it is a system toy. 3 modes + FAST Packs + Armored Packs + possible Tornado Pack makes for tireless fun and endless display possibilities.
  8. Guess I'm Nobody The D looks too big and clunky to me. I'll definitely be tempted once the 0S comes along.
  9. I like Zero, but I don't have much interest in the D.
  10. Oh how I miss Gluehwein!
  11. I transformed my Hi-Metal VF-1S and Yamato VF-1S Strike a couple of days ago. The Yamato looks nicer in a lot of ways, but I find that the Hi-Metal is more fun to transform. The small size and lighter weight also allows for more interesting posing on a stand.
  12. Plastic is cheap. Even better quality plastic isn't that expensive. Arcadia is increasing the prices so that they make a profit. Given that Yamato went under it stands to reason that the prices they were charging may not have been enough to cover the cost of designing, manufacturing and distributing their products. Yes, $200-300 for a mostly plastic transforming toy is a lot of money. But at least Arcadia is willing to take a chance and continue producing these things.
  13. Not as long as companies keep producing them. I'll keep succumbing to the 'Check Out' button as long as there is something new or an improved version of the same ole thing. Also, I doubt that anyone who comes to this forum is done. Maybe done for a bit, but not done for good.
  14. Works for me. Now can I stop trolling all the sites and get back to my life. BTW - The NY email notification does work. I received an email at 5:04.
  15. I don't mind being the guy that pays $20-$40 more. Right now I'm the guy that's still empty handed. The preorders reopened when I was still at work and during family homework time.
  16. It was even shown on the video where the Ghostbusters set was announced. I'm amazed to see a Macross themed set make it this far.
  17. I prefer this head over the standard YF-19 and the slightly modified Isamu version.
  18. I'd much prefer a stand over all the missile types that I'll probably never use and just clutter up a display.
  19. 1. VF-1S 2. VF-25S 3. YF-19
  20. I think it has to do with the fan-base and the property itself. There probably aren't too many people impulse buying valks and the usual collectors just import the items themselves to save a few bucks. Hot Toys properties are often readily recognizable which makes it easier to tempt people. Having said that, a local comic shop did have a Super VF-27 that was priced above retail. It was gone from the store in 2 weeks.

    acrylic risers

The ones @ TAP are really nice quality and they are a local business in your area so you can drop by. The TAP ones are 1/4" thick which feels really sturdy. The eBay link says 1/8". I don't see a thickness on the Container Store listing. I have a sheet of 1/8" acrylic with rubber feet every 10" on my desk. I can easily flex the acrylic between the feet so I wouldn't be surprised if a 1/8" riser of decent length will also flex. Maybe not enough to be noticeable. Just something to check out when you find some in a store.
  22. The bar is probably diecast. However, the tiny connection points at each end are plastic. I really wish the high speed mode wasn't there since it just seems like an accident waiting to happen. Although I wonder if that same mechanism is used to fold the wing more compactly for battroid.
  23. Not much to talk about until there's more pictures or a preorder date. Or, I guess we all could quip and ramble to increase our post count.
  24. I'm really starting to like this one despite the back bulge and sherpa pack. I bet it would look better with a VF-25 gunpod.
