Today I spent about 5-6 hours aplying stickers. I must be out of shape, last time I was putting stickers on something was about 10 years ago, when I bought G1 Sandstorm. Back then all tf's had stickers, not like today. Anyway, applying stickers today was realy hard work, especially all those little ones. And I used less than half of all the stickers. A lot of stickers needed trimming, UN SPACY especially, and the dash board (spent 10 minutes afterwards trying to align it right in the cockpit). I was also in a dillema about what stickers should I put on tailfins, SDF-1 or Prometheus? I used ARMD-1 on the fast packs, because we all know that strike VF-1S is shown in DYRL and all fighters in DYRL are launched from ARMD platforms. Anyway I was thinking 'which ones should I put on tailfins?'. In the first episode of the series Roy is taking off the runway which was beside the SDF-1 on land, which means (I at least think so) that he was stationed on the SDF-1 and the plane was taken out for the air show. That was confirmed after the SDF-1 takes off and we see Roy with Hikaru and Minmay landing in the hangars on board SDF-1. But I did go and put Prometheus because later in the series the whole Skull squadron was launched from Prometheus. I think this is because the Skull squadron is the best of the whole fighter contingent and as such were sent first, and the fastest method for launch was catapulting them off the carrier. And the Yamato botch up the sticker for RoX-24 beam cannon. They were made black instead of white. You can barely see them on the cannon. There are a lot of stickers I have no idea of where to put. Are there good sticker placement instructions on the internet somewhere to download (in large format)?

Hey, I managed to push the grip all the way in. Now it's flush with the fuselage in fighter mode. I was scared it might break, that's why I didn't push it to much. But then you said about not pushing it right, so I went ahead and pushed it until it clicked and went in completely. Now its perfect.

There you go... mecha boobies. What is this thing? Looks like VF-11.
-
Uhm, I don't understand you very well. Can you clearify?

I was browsing through the instructions when I had a closer look and I was talking about this when I mentioned the gunpod: See how it's tilted? When everything is locked (yeah right) into place its tip is angled towards the body. As I allready said as strike variant it helps because it would be touching the ground, but as the regular variant it's realy an eyesore. Oh well, I guess you can't have the money AND the sweets, if you know what I mean.
-
I'll try that, thanx. I was thinking of doing something like that, but I wasn't sure, I can't read japanese, and the instructions aren't that detailed.

I stated that fighter mode as regular variant is realy tight it's the strike variant fighter mode that's floppy. It locks at the intake points, the problem is at the arm-leg locking points. The pegs on the forearm armor aren't flush tight with the holes in the legs, so when you shake the valk they detach from one another.

This morning postman brought me my MISB Strike VF-1S in 1/60 scale . And of course I have some questions concerning some quality issues. Now I was probably spoiled by Hasbro with transformers, as I expected this toy to be of a better quality. My main gripes are the way the toy connects as strike variant in fighter mode. It seems floppy in my mind, the hands don't connect to well with the legs, they do hold together but a slight shake and they detach. Is this common with Yamato? Also more important, the backpack section in fighter mode (strike variant) is way to floppy for my taste. Whenever I tilt the nose upward about an inch and a half, the whole section with the FAST packs just swings backwards, it isn't holding very well. This scarred me, as I thought 'Oh my, how will he hold in battroid?', but lucky me, when you fold the wings down everything locks great. And the hip joints are to stiff. In gerwalk mode (strike and regular) he's fine, it also holds quite well in battroid mode (regular and strike, although strike is kinda backheavy, I need to position him so he doesn't fall back). Fighter mode as regular variant is tight (and I mean 'toight') and looks gorgeous, my favorite. Oh, forgot about the gunpod. When I collapse the grip and lock it into position in fighter mode (either variant) the muzzle is angled toward the body it's not parallel with the body. As strike variant it helps, because otherwise the muzzle would have touched the ground, but as regular fighter it just looks stupid. Is this the same with every strike valkyrie or just mine? Help guys, I want to know about this.

I need a translation on the text in this pic:

It looks great, although the feet are bare. Put some textures on and it will look really great.

This morning I got my Fx perfect edition Macross:DYRL. All I can say is that the movie is GREAT and I recommend it to all, not just Macross fans, altough I think everybody on this forum watched it at least once. If you don't have it, but your interested you can buy it at www.valkyrie-exchange.com (little advertising never hurt anybody ). Thank you very much Kevin. VERY fast delivery, it took only a week for it to arrive (I live in Europe you know). Anyway I will be trying your procedure Hurin, even I who knows jack about japanese can see that at some places the subtitle is off. I intend by the end of this week (I don't have a DVD burner) to burn me a copy (or two or three, as I will be watching this everyday until I'm so fed up with it that I'll chuck it out of the window; mind that will never happen ) as the disk has some minor scuffs at the edges and smudges on the track. How do you clean your DVD disks without damaging them? Anybody?

Macross: DYRL? DVD Review (Bandai/Emotion/R2)
Laserstorm replied to Hurin's topic in Macross Reviews
So this is bootleg? http://www.valkyrie-exchange.com/video-boo...ectEdition.html I thought this was the original DVD. -
Hehe, this still makes me smile. As for 105 shells, maybe IF we imagine its a GU-12 not GU-11, everything will be OK.
-
And I also agree with this
-
I totally agree with you on this.

we had rows of unguided bombs stacked in the hanger with the planes. basicly took up good 1/4 of the floor space. with ordinace its doesn't really matter where you put it since its always dangerous. put it in a big heavy walled bunker, all the ammo inside it turns it into a giant grenade and hope a chunk of 3 tons broken concrete and rebar doesn't land on the spot your standing on. coarse it realy unsafe to put it next to base housing, officers lounge, exchange, ect.... I guess it all depends on the military's practice then. My dad was reserve tank officer before they transfered him to sniper school, and during the training their fuel depo was on the other isolated side of the base, far from anything important.
-
It sure is funny, but I didn't payed it to much attention, it is hard to find the ammo the right size you know.
-
Never would have happened.

Oh, I forgot to mention, this great dio, made me think of making one in the same style, although I will make those modifications I mentioned previosly, and there's an idea I have , that is very interesting. I intend to make a light up system, so when I press the switch, white lights will glow from the ceiling, and on the walls there'll be red lights for alerts, that will flash on and off. I also intend to mount a speaker system that will play an air raid sirene. I'm still in the planing phase, so nothing is certain as of yet. I'm still pondering on how to achieve the idea, I don't know what materials I should use, so any help would be greatly apreciated.

Check this great diorama guys. http://www.tmpforums.com/index.php?showtopic=4740&st=0 It really looks great. But still there are some things that are bugging me. First of all, and I think most important is that the valkyrie is in battroid mode. It is much safer and easier to mount super armor on VF-1 if it's in fighter mode, you don't have to use big cranes and pullies, if a person slips from the top he will fall from a height of 4-5 meters not 11 meters. Second, and this is also very important, the ordinance is NEVER, and I reiterate, NEVER stored in the same hangar as the plane, and that goes for the fuel, they're kept in isolated places of the base, far from planes, as these materials are highly flammable. They are kept in special warehouses with early fire warning systems and fire extinguishing systems. I know some of you will say that this diorama is based on cartoon series and not on real life, that what I said holds no merit, but I've read a lot of essays and explanations on Macross, concerning various VF-1 systems and their equivalents in real life that I still have the impression that the designers of it tried to make it as real as posible, and in spirit of that do I share my thoughts on this issue. I would like to hear your comments.
