  1. DO_WANT!!1! Wow, this looks so cool. Very nice job, Omega. If only the dollar/yen wasn't so crappy... David Hingtgen asking how you did the canopy in 5,4,3,2...
  2. How tall are the Vf-25 toys and models? Wondering if Klan's to scale with either one...
  3. My regular tone is the 1960's era Doctor Who theme. It carries really well through the fabric of my pocket, but isn't too overwhelming. Calls from home feature the themesong from Katamari Damacy. And the wife's cell is Don't be Late. Voicemail & Text alerts are set to beep like Kim Possible's communicator. I also have stored for random changes in mood: Futurama theme, BSG:OS theme, SDFM eyecatch & Sanford & Son.
  4. It doesn't even seem necessary. If you don't want to have the feet slide in and get in the way of the landing gear, just make them a little bigger and place the hinge closer to the cuff of the leg. That way the whole foot pivots forward, rather than the toe; which is not hinted at anywhere in the design.
  5. I think my biggest issue is the feet and and tailfins. I accept the concession on the nose, but the back end of the fighter just looks too puny, and the battroid looks like its feet were bound in childhood. I also wonder about the shield. You can't really tell in the photos, but it looks like it mates with the fuselage more like the shield of the VF-25. I don't see that it pinches in at the top of shield, like the lineart or the GNU. Overall, it still looks pretty good, though. All the Mac Plus valks seem to suffer from major anime magic on the legs, so the toys look like gymnasts. Think of how bad the Fire Valkyrie would look!
  6. I like it, but I might just wait for the Armor Pack...
  7. OK, I was wondering if it was just me... If the tower on top is Battle Galaxy's bridge, it would seem Mainland is more the size of City7, rather than Island1. I guess we may never know. Or maybe the Chronicle will have something to say someday.
  8. I can see how the 3 views at bottom relate to each other, but I can't figure out what perspective we see in the top pic and in the series... Are the bottom ones concepts perhaps?
  9. Hmm, that might fit River Song's description of "her Doctor" in "Silence in the Library."
  10. I dunno, it just seems TOO easy. It's almost like every role Jackson has done in the past 10 years has been inspired by Sho Nuff, especially in the blockbusters. It looks like he's already Sho Nuff, by the look of the Spirit trailers. Besides, the last thing I want in my campy, ridiculous movies is good special effects!
  11. Woo, that Quarter art is pretty nice!
  12. Aaaand... Desktop!
  13. Just to make myself clear, I don't want to pirate the Chronicle. I feel that pirating is counter-productive. The things you want more of will only be made if they bring in money. Unfortunately, it's a bad time to be a poor Macross fan. I'm not after hi-res scans of the entire magazine, I'd just like to see some of it. Heck, even the photos of some spreads has been enough for me; I'm just a little surprised that more such scans/pictures have not shown up online, like just about everything else.
  14. Honestly, I can't read a lick of Japanese, so most of the stuff in the Chronicle is of no value to me. I've also got a few of the TIAS books, and I've found stuff through the M3 and UNS Quartermasters, etc; so I'm not after old lineart either. It's mainly the new pictures, like the VF-5000, Q-rau & YF21; or the history sheets that interest me. I love Tenjin Hidetaka's artwork, so his new illustrations are what I'm really craving, as well as the "different perspective" stuff from the histories/tech.
  15. So sorry, Sqidd. I like to think that, while intense, the grief and sorrow you feel now is only a pale reflection of the joy and happiness that you and Ootis shared. In time, it will be easier to look back at the good times. VFTFT1, that was a lovely sentiment. It's a good thing I didn't read that before going to Petsmart yesterday, I might've come back with another dang kitteh...
  16. OK, so, maybe I'm a bit of a freeloader and a mooch... But has anyone made or know of scans of these awesome sounding pics? I can't get these at this point o' my life, but would love to see some of the pages. Issue 1, which I have seen was great!
  17. My heart & thoughts go out to you and your canine buddy. Hope the tests come back promising... I remember how rough it was losing my pup. I told her, "I'll see you next week, and you can get hair all over my tux before the wedding." She almost hopped in the car with me before I drove off. I kept her from doing so and left. Last I ever saw her. Still got hair on my tux, though.
  18. We do see Alto putting it on his leg when he stabbed Temjin. Problem was he had to actively place it there, rather than keeping it in the fighter mount. I did think the arm mount always looked cool, though. The shoulder strap was kinda dumb, IMHO. Mark brings up something interesting by extension... did you guys notice the 171EX's rifle DOES stay mounted to its arm? It just flips around for battroid use.
  19. Ah, d3v, you just made my day. Thx!
  20. Klaatu, Barada & Nikto!
  21. Hmm, I wonder if Klan is in scale with the VF-25...
  22. That's apparently how my Grandpa felt. Some roof work after his death lead to the discovery of his stash: 1/24 scale classic cars all the way to the rafters, all the way around the house. My Dad and I seem to be hoarders as well. I think it's genetic...
  23. I look at it kind of like Mr March does. Technologically, humans are building on the legacy of the Protoculture, not retracing their steps. While the PC had to innovate all of the overtechnology we see, humans only had to reverse engineer it. In that way, we can be seen as a continuation of the Protoculture, just the most recent incarnation. What we also see is that our new perspective has enabled humans to succeed where the PC failed, perhaps because we are not restricted by millenia of tradition, structure and preconceived notions. I think it's less a matter of us surpassing the Protoculture, as picking up where they left off. The legacy of the Protoculture continues with the advancement of humans and the growth of the NUNG's sphere of influence. It is another golden age in a series of rises and falls. The events of Frontier seem to show two possibilities. 1. Galaxy's plot indicates that there may be another fall coming soon. 2. The lessons and peaceful resolution from the Vajra conflict may actually open the possibility of intergalactic travel. Everything we've seen so far in the Macross timeline occurs within the vast playground of our galaxy. If I understood ep 25 correctly, the Vajra sing Aimo across the gulf of galaxies, looking to mate with other swarms. We could potentially utilize fold-quartz travel to head over to Andromeda or something. That would open up some crazy story potential and break new ground in the series. I don't know if I like the idea, though...
  24. Yeah, and I'm hungry! Overall, I'd call it between 8 & 9. So I'll vote 9. I will have to go back and watch the whole series again before I can comment on pacing, but the slower episodes in the first half really got you wrapped up in their characters. Remember how we all thought Sheryl was stuck-up, Ranka was the cliche moe girl, and Alto was the standard brooding type? True, these were the jumping off points for the characters, but they grew to so much more! My main unfulfilled wishes were for a little more bad-guy exposition. Just a little more insight into the Vajra's history with Ranshe (I don't really think it was all Ranka's fault); and a little more info on Galaxy Anonymous. I was actually happy with the way Ranka summed up the Vajra's motivations. They're so fundamentally different from humans, there's literally no way to "get inside their head." One thing I would have really asked for would be 1 more episode in the final arc. They could have ended 24 with the Battle Galaxy reveal, then given some serious time the fight with the V-9's, and allow some info on the GA. Wrap that episode up with Grace as super-queen, then finish it out the way they did. I appreciated Alto's ultimate decision, I thought it was a cool way to end the series on an open romantic note, rather than the awkward collapse of M7's triangle. I hope the movie goes into the Vajra/Protoculture connection, hinted at by Brera's discovery of the birdman statue. So sad it's over, but loved it!
