  1. Saruta : Basara got a happy ending. He moved the mountain, by snapping Gepelnitch out of his uncontrollable galaxy-killing state. He was never in it for the girls. While he admired and was certainly drawn to Sivil, I'm not sure it was ever in a romantic way. He was just trying to reach through to the enemy.
  2. She looks much better in Cerberus colors.
  3. My problem with Frontier's pacing has a lot to do with the slow middle, and as a consequence how rushed the 3rd act was. We got the awesome exposition of Grace being the bad guy, the nefarious machinations of Galaxy Anonymous, only to have them put on the back burner until the last couple of episodes. While I've come to expect little closure in anime endings, it seemed like one more episode to deal with Galaxy would've gone a long way. Instead, we got a fast-paced pewpew medley, which was awesome to watch, but quite shallow. Despite their other shortcomings, I feel the movies handled the Galaxy plot much better overall.
  4. Oh, come on now. You could never control the fine movements of a battroid with a guitar-style control. At least no where near as well as a joystick & throttle. Sheesh. I never really saw the problem with this setup. It wasn't a guitar, just a control yoke set up like one - because Basara was more used to it. Nor was he really playing the accompanying music. Heck, maybe the setup actually WAS better suited for battroid - since everyone acknowledges that he's a great B-pilot, but sucks in F or G. That goes out the window for Dynamite of course. I do hope that the new series finds a better balance than 7 or Frontier. I like them both, but the pacing was awful in the middles and ends.
  5. I read it wrong the first time - I thought you meant "Force sensitive people are still-born." That would be dark. It's like if Palpatine pulled off something like the Krogan Genophage from Mass Effect.
  6. Just bustin your chops, man. Injection? Cool. One would hope that could bring the costs down, if enough of us commit to getting one.
  7. I thought you were on that, K! What the hell?! Someday, when Shapeways has a good coupon or sale, I've really gotta pick up some of your mods. Just too pricey for me now. And I still have no hobby spot.
  8. My buddies & I rented the VHS from Blockbuster in the mid 90's. Yeah, it was supremely kiddified. Mark Hamill's pornstache was all adult, though. I was bummed that he didn't have a bigger role.
  9. Mine were still ok last time I looked, but I'd order a set of spares too!
  10. Great work! Very interesting to see what might have been.
  11. Just finished watching this series over the weekend. Wow! Since then, I've watched a few clips of Star Blazers for comparison/retro fun. I love that some sequences are almost shot-for-shot remakes, like the rainbow nebula, while others give it so much more depth. Gotta love Desslok's voice acting in SB, though.
  12. All kidding aside, that's cool. Weren't these originally supposed to be transformable? Or was this a fully custom invention?
  13. Still, they were both designed to fit on the same toy. It's likely that if Kurisama's fits, Maiden's will too.
  14. This Vf-1J has been assigned to Lt. Diggler.
  15. Didn't it say New Edwars in the anime somewhere? I wanna say it was either on the detailed shot of the YF-19's emblem, or in Isamu's history screen. They're just striving for accuracy.
  16. Yes, peace has gone out the window, but they're cool most of the time. My girl's not a doll-lover. She's got a basket of cuddly friends, human and non, but only 2 or 3 birds get any regular attention. I think she'll be stoked for the Cuckoo Cloud Palace, I still catch her singing Everything is Awesome, or some variation, now & then. (Everything is Stinky! during bathroom time) I'll just be clear: this is from me, not some damn bunny. * She's 4, for context. Geez, I can't wait 'til this comes out on DVD. My wife is also bummed that she didn't get to go with us.
  17. Ah , I'll probably do it at Easter. Maybe it'll make a good behavior carrot.
  18. I picked this up for the kid a while back, but she hasn't received it yet. She was desperate for Wyldstyle & Emmet. After looking at brick link & eBay prices, $19 seemed like a good deal for them, Unikitty & a bunch of bright, cool pieces. I honestly think she's forgotten about them at this point though. I meant to give it to her last month, along with a tray to build in, but the tray's not done & she's been really bad lately... But man, it's been 2 months since we saw the movie. Now I feel sad.
  19. I actually really dig the legs and torso of this battroid. The pod doesn't really bother me either. I just wish they could do something better with the wings. I hope Kawamori spends some time coming up with a new way to hinge them before the new TV series.
  20. They don't bad as standalone robots. But there's literally nothing of the alt mode in there. And why does a robot need a trench coat?
  21. I like the 0,1 & 25 in Gerwalk. They look good and solid, and it's something that I think is distinctly Macross. The 171 is kinda cool, because it has a strong bird-like quality to it. The other VF's don't work as well, because the wing positions are awkward. The wings dangle awkwardly off the back, rather than being mounted near the shoulders. As much as I love the 11, seeing the battroid head and those big gaps just ruins the G. It looks good if you leave the arms folded away, though. Other notables: YF-29 - yeesh. That valk is so kibbly, and Gerwalk is the worst offender. YF-21/VF-22 - the engines are on the back, why even bother? VF-9 - the pivoting cockpit is kind of cool, but it looks like an origami bird because of all the hollow folding bits. And it's wearing moon-boots.
  22. Thanks. I see that the DYRL is a little shorter, to account for the extra piece. The back end bends differently, too. I wonder if I could successfully mod the TV into something more like the DYRL, if not exact. Technically, I'm sure I could, but do I have the skillz? Appreciate it!
  23. So how different is the DYRL style A head from the TV? Is it just an additional piece on the lens area? or is the structure different? To clarify: I know there are greater differences in the lineart, but in terms of the toy, how different are they? And is it worth the assembly? Just saw a good deal on this, but I really prefer the movie head.
