Those circles don't really look like barrels to me. I'm leaning more toward some sort of sensor apparatus now. Maybe those are the sensors that enable the cockpit to do that funky CG we see occasionally in Mac+ when Isamu is flying through and around buildings.

coolest thing i've seen yet, a "COMICAL -D Special", my guy got whooped on and then became energized so everytime he hit the ground he got a boost. I still don't really understand making specials work yet though...

how are you guys saving the picture? I did a print screen, put it in paint, converted to a jpeg... there's gotta be a way better way.

wow, it's like crack but more strange. Hints to people just trying it, click once, hold the mouse, release. Click on the "aerial" area when it's highlighted red or blue to perform an aerial maneuver (either being bashed downward or launched upward). I'm gonna stop now before it becomes what I do with my Friday night..

Wow, a RT Alpha 1/35 Greenie just went for over $300!!! I got my blue one for less than half that about three months ago. Unfortunately I lost the link and don't know how to scan the ended items listed

Ah-ha... so then they must be COOLNESS emitters!

aren't we expecting a reissue of some sort with the proposed GBP?

The YF-19 is one of my favorite looking vehicles and I love the way any 19 looks in jet mode. The Toynami pieces have several issues but I would disagree with anyone who tells you the Bandai re-releases are better. That means if you're going Valk your best choice is a 1/48 or 1/60 Yammie. IMHO if you do go MPC, Max/Miriya are the sharpest looking of the group, esp with fast packs. Really though, the best way to fly is with a 1/48 and you can find those for about $100-$140 without any difficulty. WELL worth it in comparison to other valks. As far as the Alphas go, well I clearly LOVE them. I love all alphas though, even the miserable Gakken toys. Unfortunately, if you're looking for a vehicle to display in jet mode, the Toynami Alpha may let you down. While it does look good for an alpha, it has a tendency to look like it's back is arched which is just not flattering. The Valks all seem to look much better in jet mode, even the MPCs.

i've never played an RPG for Macross/Robotech, but I'll tell you one thing, those books do make GREAT reading while you're sitting in the bathroom...

will Neova or somebody else consider selling completed modified Valks? I'd rather let someone else do the work than butcher my own Valk and destroy a sweet custom two-seat rig and try to conceal my poor craftsmanship with the world's worst paint job. I'm just lookin' for a hypothetical rather than an agreement of some sort...

if you build it... they will come

Someone on RT.com has stated that there are two different versions of the green MPC. One supposedly has a red eye and another that has a blue eye. Can anyone confirm this? Anyone wanna throw out what number they have and what color the eye is?

LOVE those pics. Do you have to build the Imai with that middle missile bay? I own three of the kits (recent purchases with the hope I will some day be great at modeling) and the one thing I instantly didn't like was that center missile bay. The alpha MPC doesn't have it's front wings place correctly in a few of the comparison shots Still, beautiful photos and I'm very happy to have the comparison. I also absolutely LOVE the paint job on that Imai.

thanks everyone, there's a Takatoku on Ebay that i'm looking at that has the heatshield and is gray with beige cockpit. Maybe the person is just putting a Bandai one in a Takatoku box?? I would provide a link but I'm at work... He does state it's a "collector's issue." Hrmm....

Oh no, I'm aware of all the other Taka VFs, I'm talking about JUST the VF-1S. There are at least two different VF-1S and I have now seen a third. Again, there's the White VF-1S with beige cockpit, gray VF-1S with black cockpit, but is there also a legitimate gray VF-1S with beige cockpit or any other VF-1Ss? (we're talking all 1/55 scale here). If anyone does know of all the details behind the different VF-1S (like what packages they were available in or what year changes were made) I would love to hear about it.

Okay, I have to know, how many different versions of the VF-1S did Takatoku make? I always thought there were only TWO. 1) Super VF-1S White with beige canopy 2) Gray TV version VF-1S (came with GBP or stand alone). This version also came with a black canopy that looks a bit odd in fighter mode... Now I see a third one that is gray with a beige canopy and a separate heat shield that can be clipped in (I imagine this heat shield was also in the VF-1S package). Can anyone confirm this third VF-1S (gray with beige cockpit) and let me know if there are more variations?

I highly doubt this toy is in great shape and it's more than likely just a beat up Robotech toy, either way $15 isn't much money at all. I'm on a gakken quest so for my current project I consider it money well spent. Now, the $66 I just spent on an MISB version of the toy was way too much... but oh well.

with the nose facing me the one on the left is missing.
-
my FP is missing one. I bought it off Ebay and it never had it on there to my knowedge. I just keep the fast packs on now, hopefully it'll catch anything that pops off.

I took that last one, I needed the gun.

Total Rookie question here (not really into models but I like the idea of being into them). The pictures show everything painted on the sprue, they're just doing that for demonstration right? You're not actually expected to paint stuff while it is on the sprue are you? Seems like by the time you're done the whole paint job would be all muffed up.
-
So the next question could be, who has the photo shop (and other) skills to make the new VF-1D box? I would love to have a completely legit looking 1D. Pricing and all that good stuff would have to be considered. Unfortunately, I doubt I'll have the scrill this summer to keep up my collecting....
