  1. well, just in case i bought a "robotech.com exclusive" toy now rather than waiting and hoping to see it on Ebay at some point. God that website's prices are insane. I think I'm gonna head over there and blow every TOU now...
  2. I won an auction from that guy and never received the item. His Email address also doesn't work so whoever bid that might be in for a great surprise. Also, everything he was selling went for INSANE prices. I got an MISB SDF-1 for $140 a few months back and someone bought his for like $400... I think this is just a case of a few people who have tax return money and want the exact same things (except for international people as was explained earlier). You gotta figure demand for Southern Cross toys is intense among a small number of people. If you have one toy and ten people want to buy it you can sell it for a nice price but that doesn't justify then making nineteen more toys- you'd just end up with ten sitting on the shelves.
  3. 1) Whoa, I didn't know they let you sell that kind of toy on Ebay... 2) Isn't that Clinton's cigar holder? 3) but are the batteries and lubricant sold separately? Seriously though, how do you determine the starting auction price should be $30? Anyone know what exactly this is?
  4. Man, I just got my standard YF-19 and now I can't decide which of the two I like more! Such sweet dilemmas. The beige one sure seems a lot shinier. My big problem with these is that neither looks agressive enough in Gerwalk mode.
  5. Please tell me Orbit in Walnut is some crazy hipster slang for some country where $1 is worth roughly 20 american cents.
  6. it's one of my favorites but i never touch it. I've never transformed it. It doesn't seem very durable. Still, it's on par with the other Mac+ toys and an improvement over the original YF-19. I recommend it.
  7. uh, if you tinted your display case wouldn't you effectively just be creating a closet/cabinet?
  8. okay, here's a diddy from Cancer Research UK: SO, if you drive with one arm out the window that'll get burned to a crisp while the rest of you could potentially get tanned. I also imagine most car glass has more of a UV protection than standard glass since some windows have anti-shatter measures. You jeep owners are doomed. From a toy perspective, I stand by my placing cardboard behind and to the side of my display case. That means the only time my toys are exposed to sunlight its ambient and generally that's once in a blue moon. Now, folding the boxes to toys does seem like an excellent background device but it would lead to the conundrum of what to do with all the stuff that was formerly in the box...
  9. Look at the crotch region. The legs should slide back over the two tabs coming down. If you haven't managed this you're not transforming it correctly. I don't know why but there are couple things that seem to help me manage this. 1) Make sure the kneecaps are back all the way forward. There are tiny little slots indicating where the full forward position is. 2) Open the feet up a little bit. If you bring the feet tight in the center it can screw up the clearance for the collapsing mechanism. Open them up and then collapse the legs. Then push them together slowly and if you feel the legs about to pull back out by moving the feet STOP.
  10. You have the taka super vf-1s that alludes me to this day. it pains me to see it. Otherwise I love what you've done. What's wrong with the comics for a backdrop? if you took them down what would you replace them with?
  11. how can anyone complain about Toynami's boxes in a Toynami vs Yamato thread. I'm pretty neutral but Yamato boxes blow balls. If we're saying one vs the other, i'll take the toynami box any day. Wait... am I seriously complaining about packaging.. i need a new hobby.
  12. Godzilla... there's a mirror back there???? As someone stated, the mirrors make photography pretty darn difficult. That's why I was hoping to go with some sort of artwork. Then again, maybe just a flat back or similar background is the way to go? On the UV thing, not only does the UV hurt but I also hate the idea of how hot my guys would get if the sunlight were directly on them. I can't imagine that being good for anyone. I have my old Jetfire somewhere and that thing is super yellow and I doubt it ever made it outside but i know it spent many many hours in a very well-lit room. On another note, I'm also of the opinion you can't get sunburnt through a window. I've believed that since like the 7th grade. Isn't your normal window something like an SPF50 sunblock?
  13. I was just about to post that same thing.... Someone's been huffing glue...
  14. You will only notice the entire "Glowing head" feature on Rick's and Roy's heads (white plastic).
  15. here's my current set-up. there's a window not too far away so I try to keep it dark. You also can't really see the sides or back of the display cases (other than by looking through the display case) so it doesn't look to garish with the cardboard as it is now. I'm just looking for something clever to put over the cardboard... I really want to set each shelf up with its own little motif so images I can create to a specific size seem the way to go... (sorry, it's an old pic so you may have seen it before)
  16. Me thinks you're only of that opinion because there's no light in your Yamato to show you how thin that plastic really is...
  17. Yeah, the Alphas are sweet, the poseables are cheap and not bad, the bookends are a matter of taste but they're pretty easy on the eyes, the boxes are stellar, the fastpacks are pretty nice and highly detailed (just don't shake 'em since they're magnet based) and the hands on the Valks are superior to Yamato's (even the Yammie 1/48 effort). As always the thread boils down to the fact the 1/48s are the best Valks EVER.
  18. Okay folks, I have the Detolf (or whoever they are) display cases from IKEA. Yeah, they're tiny and all that jive but they're all I've got for now. Anyway, I've constructed a cardboard barrier to protect my toys inside from sunlight. It works great and you can't really see it unless you're looking in at my toys. My original idea was just to paint the cardboard black for a solid backdrop but now that seems lame. Does anyone have any suggestions for spicing up my backdrop? Is it possible to take DVDs to a place like Kinko and have them enlarge the cover art images to specific sizes? I was thinking something like that might work... What have you guys done?
  19. I picked up the entire poseable line for $19.99 and I think that, at that price, they were well worth it. You can definitely get some good posing out of them and they don't really look "chubby". While they definitely may not be "line art" perfect they sure fit the anime well (but I'm sure you're all aware how far anime tends to sway from line art).
  20. Is it just me or does it look like Janice's breasts may be HUGE? Robotech might just feature a tentacle scene this time around....
  21. it's also gonna cost you to have that thing shipped from across the seas... That's always been my biggest gripe with the 1/48s. The prices themselves are steep but acceptable, then you add another $30-$40 just to get it to your door. They should set up a service so that when the postal worker comes with your package he also kicks you in the balls for free. All that being said, and also owning both, the 1/48 is the hands down winner. Graham and others are spot-on with their critiques.
  22. just when I get over my intense dislike of this series and manage to forget it ever happened someone always brings it up. It's a lot like violently ripping a scab off just when it seems all will be well. FIREd
  23. So what exactly does this mean? I assume this is primarily just for the Japanese market since absolutely nothing is different from the RT stuff except for the packaging.
  24. Holy Crap, is Winnie about to get dusted?
