  1. Yes sir
  2. A 1/48 Glaug would be exactly 15" tall edit - just for fun, here's the dimensions of other stuff if done in 1/48, my calcs show a VF-1 at 1/48 measures 11.85" just to give you a baring: VF-11 is 12.5" long, YF-19 is just under 15" YF-21 is 15.75" VF-17 is 12.5" VF-4 is 12.3"
  3. I find the speculation about Harmony Gold's finances on this forum to be pretty humorous. The same thing happens with Toynami. Everybody seems to don their financial caps and decree they know how much it costs to make a series or a toy and then determines there is no way anyone in the Robotech camp is making money. So, being an accountant who actually specializes in these sorts of things (credit risk & profitability), I decided to do some ground-pounding and find out exactly how Harmony Gold's books look. Sadly, it would appear both companies are private (somebody correct me if I'm wrong). Something to consider though, somebody somewhere is definitely loaning Harmony Gold a lot of money and that company knows exactly what HG is worth and they've come to the conclusion that they're a safe bet. Chances are this company/bank/syndication of banks feels HG is a safe bet because all of those DVDs and (often crappy) toys really are making money. Honestly, do you think if HG didn't make money on the crap tons of DVDs they produce they would keep issuing new versions of almost the exact same thing? One new DVD out there would mean one new excuse to create a new boxset.
  4. I would be quite happy if Bandai never released another chunky product again. The charm is wayyyy gone now that Yamato has shown us the true splendor of the 1/48. I own the originals to round out my collection but if a company was going to spend time and money releasing anything going forward I would hope it'd be a significantly improved product... not a reissue of a thorougly outdated product. Now, a Yamato Elint and SuperO in 1/48 scale would tickly my fancy nicely (or simply a VF-1D). What about a jokemachine SuperO and Elint? A Yammie VF-17 would be nice too
  5. $65 is a decent price but I wouldn't consider it a screaming good deal. Most people prefer the fast pack release as it included some improvements so every now-and-then you can get the first version for dirty cheap. I paid $35 and it came with the HK sub of Macross
  6. Did you guys notice that Alex was the one who handed Kate to Zeke? Alex potentially being the french girl's son? I am kind of upset by the episode. While it was nice to have an encounter that seemed kind of frank with "the others" it seemed too random. They might as well have showed a scene where Jack walked off to pee in a bush and while he was going Zeke walked up beside him and started peeing on the same bush. "You know Jack, would you walk into someone's house and just pee on their shrubbery without even asking?" The "Light 'em up" scene was also kinda strange. How premeditated would that have had to have been? "Okay guys, just in case he thinks I'm alone, all of you grab torches and be ready to light them on my mark."
  7. For the record, I originally asked this question because I remember it as being "F-oh-cker" in both but I was worried my Robotech watching had just obscured my memory (or vice versa). As it is, I'm pretty sure Robotech has Roy being "F-oh-cker" and it is my understanding also that the Dutch pilot's name in English is commonly referred to as "F-oh-cker" as well, even if it is intended to be "F-ah-cker" in his natural language. Simply put, I think outside of Denmark, Roy's last name should be pronounced "F-oh-cker" (as it apparently is in both Robotech and Macross). This could also have a correlation to English speakers being afraid of being misunderstood when saying "f-ah-cker" as alluded to earlier.
  8. I have some genuine doubts that their RT toys are producing much black ink... if any.
  9. notice in the lineart that the alpha in fighter mode has a nose that arches slightly upward... something everyone hates about the Toynami's toy (myself included). There's gotta be something to that... but i don't know what it is.
  10. Oh man, aren't there about a million Chasing Amy quotes that seem appropriate here. "So you're a tracer?"
  11. is it Mil-ee-ah or Milya? If it's Mil-ee-ah I think it makes more sense as Mir-ee-ah but if it's Milya then I think Milya works best. Not that my opinion is worth anything at all
  12. Rick Hunter MPC = $80 - $150 (I did see one sale for $150 so don't yell at me if you think that's too high). The Alphas shouldn't have a trouble with the back landing gears touching the ground, the problem is the front landing gear not touching. The solution isn't in the chest, it's in the legs where the holes that attach to the arms are. If you could dremel the holes forward slightly and fill in the old holes you would solve the arched back and landing gear problems. NOTE - not all Alphas require the fix for landing gears... Most of them can be massaged to stand on just the gears...
  13. Okay, so is it pronouced "Fock" like "Spock" or "Foke" like "spoke" in the name Roy Focker.
  14. Simple rule of life, the cuter something is, the tastier it is. That's why baby animals are so delightful. Baby cows, baby pigs, baby lamb, etc... the younger, the yummier.
  15. I might contact you later about this. I'm going to buy an extra MPC Ben and start taking him apart to see how feasible this project is.
  16. I got one for you, if I gave you an MPC box that I wanted to make into a VF-1D MPC, do you think you could do that? Somehow you'd have to remove the Ben Dixon on the box and replace it with Minmay and change the volume number to 7.
  17. I think he just removed the red from a Hikaru chest plate. He says the custom is made from a Hikaru that was used for a VF-1D and a VF-1A CF.
  18. Oh man, he could rig that thing with Estes rockets and fire 'em off like tomahawk cruise missiles. THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!!!
  19. Since it's a new reissue it'll be everywhere for about the same price. Check the SSL or the blacklist but chances are you can't really go wrong unless you try to buy it from somewhere obscure.

    1/48 Fastpack Set?

Someone did a modded LV with FPs and transparent covers that looked really good.
  21. was the first movie the one where the creepy engineer takes a swan dive off one of his skyscrapers? Whatever movie that was, I thought it was pretty decent. The movie with a leviathan was not good.
  22. I've heard it's never too late to go back... but I gotta say from your writing here alone I think you could at least skip a couple grades.
  23. His work on the VB-6 is truly legendary.
  24. Accountant/Financial Analyst.
  25. Where does one go to get heads for 1/55 customs? I'm thinking about customizing an MPC (since you can get the Ben MPCs for like $20, it seems like a good chance to have fun). Unfortunately I think the chunky VF-1D head would look funky.... any suggestions??
