I figured since I re-did my review for the Toynami Appendices I better get a new review up for the actual MPC VF-1 themselves. So, I posted it tonight (got in too late for drinking ). So folks, here are some teaser pics, the review is very pic intensive but if you have high speed I recommend ya check it out . Edit - For those of you who do check it out, let me know what you think about the Rick Hunter in different shades of light with the LED on pic montage... is it "meh" or is it better than that?

The 1/100s are a huge improvements over the Banprestos. Lest we forget this picture from my original 1/100 review? By the by, I ordered my second series from Kevin (aka Valk Exchange) at a great price. I'll be putting up a review for them on my website in the coming month. I'm too busy to promise anything sooner though. I still have to get through the Yamato launch arms, 1/60 VF-0S, and some vintage toys first...

Doesn't that toy have a reputation for being needle-nosed? I never thought of it as blunt before...

TSINC just has a habit of selling items they don't have in stock and then forgetting to tell you that. So you buy something, wait, wait, ask about it, they refund your money. If they have it in stock though they're usually quite good to deal with.

Have you tried asking Kevin in this thread: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...=20359&st=0 He might be able to ship to you. I'm not sure he's on the board all that frequently though at the moment.

What's wrong with my Yamato, Bandai, etc.

I'll be transforming my new 0S for the first time this weekend. When I get it into battroid the first thing I'll do is remove the shoulder armors and investigate for cracking. So far I have already used the shoulders a bit since I put the gun on in fighter mode and that was an absolute female dog. Once again, the hole in the gun doesn't appear to be big enough for the peg in the arms . -
This thing is going to read like the declassified reports we in the US get from the CIA "Well, I spoke with [blacked out text] today the [blacked out text] of 200[blacked out text]. I am very pleased to report that a bunch of new stuff is in the work like [blacked out text]. What I found most surprising was [blacked out text]. Obviously I am thrilled. I went through your guys' list of questions and below are the answers: 1) [blacked out text] 2) [blacked out text] ...

Can we make it so under the Member No there's a field that says "Responed to survey, Yes/No" and then we can hunt down with pitchforks and torches all the people that still have NO as the end of the survey approaches?

I definitely wouldn't plan on letting my hypothetical children near them too young. But I remember playing with my transformers as a kid and so at that point in development I think a kid could do fine with these. Knowing most children the missiles will never be on the plane and the heatshield will never get swapped anyway. The trickier part is finding the woman appropriate to carry my seed... keeping the inevitible genetic developments from choking hazards will hopefully be easier... hopefully

This actually isn't exactly true anymore. The 1/48 is now more complete for VF-1 than the 1/60 (Stealth, LVII, LVI, AngelBirds, DYRL Kakizake, DYRL Hik VF-1S). The only thing 1/48 is missing is the VF-1D (and VT and VE if you would like to include them). Obviously a few of the 1/48s I mentioned are non-canon).

There should be no hating to say it. It's a Macross toy on the cheap and not a half bad one. If I weren't at work 13 hours a day right now I think I would have totally bought these by now. There's something cool about a toy you can handle and not worry at all about the huge expense you'll incur should you accidentally break it... which is kind of the spirit of what a toy should be right? Once I breed successfully and my children are sufficiently aged I'm pretty sure these little buggers will be their indoctrination to Macross (I better have locking cabinets by then).

Darn, I really like it but I'm in CA so it seems i'm SOL. -
1/60 DYRL Valks are the worst. They were the first ones Yamato made and it shows. The only exception is the strike 1S which had the upgrades of the second edition 1/60 Valks. If you need to know the differences visit the site in my sig.

Well I would presume that the most diehard MW members responded to the survey. I think it's pretty neat info. Is my Super Max more rare than a LVI?? Neat stuff... nice color coordinating also.

Yeah but wouldn't the SDF-1 be a prime target for the Anti-UN? While I agree that there'd be a need for lots of people around the ship you'd also think the constant potential for attack would mean fewer families and more solo-dudes working out of quarters rather than living in a town. Then again, next to the SDF-1 may also be the safest place imagineable as it'd probably be the most heavily fortified location within the UN.

I believe Rnurman is selling one in the for sale thread (1/48 that is)

I was thinking about that myself. You gotta love a vendor that doesn't need to charge state tax (CA 8.25%!) and doesn't want to tack on 4% in Paypal fees because he's wise enough to keep a non-premium account handy for those of us who do direct funds transfers. Now, if he'd only offer a kick back to those of use who bring up his name in threads occasionally! Did he ever even get people YF-19s? Seems like he's been on a hiatus for a long while now. When he comes back I might have a nice order waiting for him (provided he has the pricing right of course!).

You know, DYRL actually seems to cement this idea a bit (well, maybe not stretching it to the cathouse). remember Hikaru's date with Minmei. He tries to end it by going to the hotel and she shoots him down. That was what immediately came to my mind when you mentioned it so I think maybe that actually was what the creators intended... but were as subtle as humanly possible about it. We do see plenty of the pilots interacting with the civilian ladies and it's doubtful with all the destruction of property while all the people survived in shelters that people would have homes all to themselves. Now, getting around the "Oh my God, she's going to the hotel with that pilot!" issue is another matter entirely and it's not like you could get away with too much with a captive audience to sit there and gossip. Heck, it's a wonder the bridge bunnies didn't just sit out front of the hotels with a bag of popcorn.

Is the picture huge? I used to get problems when I tried to upload a really large pic. try using imageshack.
-
Graham, ask them to make clear parts for the GBP like they did for the strike set! It might take some work to install but I think it'd be coo'!
-
Where did you want the pilots to bang the civilian ladies? They sure as heck didn't seem to want that going on back at the soldiers' quarters.

I would like to see more paint schemes that are only slight alterations of existing ones... j/k

Yeah, that's what I mean by "playing" the better person. He tried to seem like this great guy with super high standards but deep down he just sucked.
-
LOL... but nah, I like his descent. For one, it's strikingly adult subject matter for a cartoon. For two, it shows that being a paficist and playing the better person doesn't equate to a whole lot unless there's a lot more behind it than attempting to be unabashedly contrarian. LOL, that's not a dig on Hurin... I was looking for the proper wording and boom, there was his title!

technically it's okay to quote that image since it's no longer on the same page...
