Toynami Announces Masterpiece Cyclones at Toyfair
jenius replied to chowyunskinny's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Ooh, looks like there might be a targeting scope hidden away in the right chest piece.. I'm a little confused about where the front shocks are going to go, the Armor mode pics don't seem to show them anywhere (on the models and toys they're very promient over the arms). I think the wonkiness is mostly contributable to the fact the bike looks a bit too small for the rider. -
Nice how they didn't transform that Alpha correctly (nice wing Noob)!!! I was thinking about it, with more Alphas coming out that just makes more likelihood for the Betas at some point. I really hope we get one as it will validate my owning so damn many Alphas... Out of curiosity, what did you want to see in this toy that isn't present that is bumming you out? I can't tell from your comment if you just don't like the Beta (which is a big box with wings) or if you think this toy makes the fact it is a big box with wings too apparent.

11lbs 11oz??? Was he late? Obviously congratulations. Edit - she? Yeah, I'm an idiot... I think I was too busy staring at the weight!

Gakken made models also. I don't own any but Totoro's pic would be, if it's correct, the picture of the Gakken model, not the toy you're thinking of. I believe the toy is 1/8 scale, not 1/12 scale. -
You know, for their size Kaiyodo did pretty well for the detail on their destroids. I totally think a 1/60 scale Destroid would be fine.

Anyone looking for Lancer's swords in New Gen (or Mospeada) won't see them. His ride armor has them but they're never in the animation. I don't like the Cyclones as toys. Honestly, the MPC Alpha is a step-up from Imai's kit and I'm sure the Cyclone will also be much better than the model kit. That said, 10 to 20 years later a toy should be a TON better than that model and once again Toynami's mild improvements just won't be enough. That said, there's no way this will be a three volume MPC, we'll see Fuke and Rey no doubt, as well as a Vince in synchro attire. It's very depressing to see that the Shadow figures are just the exact same Alphas with different hands/heads/paint jobs. I don't see an obvious improvement in any way... except they knew to take pictures to hide the arched back. Let's hope there's improvement that fixes that. Obviously no ball joints at the hip and I doubt they took the diecast out of the forearms so don't expect anything good from Shadow toys. -

I think it was pretty clear that there situation was hopeless. The Haydonites were handing them their tuckus. They didn't blow up the shipyard just to wax people, they did it to survive and escape in a POS colony ship. Also, most of the technology present in that complex had been modified in some way due to Haydonite help (note how the entire defending force all gets mowed down because the Haydonites know those ships are using their technology) so it's not like anything in that major base was going to be useful at all without a lot of time & effort (and Maia and crew took the few things that were useful). So, blow up a now obsolete space station to survive or... die. I don't think that seems too crazy to me. The NS Missile thing still doesn't seem that crazy to me. Regardless of what Reinhardt said, we know that they're Haydonite technology and that they move real slow. So, launching them at the Haydonites doesn't seem very intelligent. Hiding it within the structure the Haydonites are approaching? That seems like a clever (if not cliche) rouse. Besides, they create a black hole, if you launch them you're still probably going to lose that space station. -

Whatever the deal is that's been worked out, apparently HG can use Macross all they want in print and video games but absolutely, under no circumstances, can anything Macross appear animated. I have no idea how that works but it's pretty clear from the comments being made and the merchandise sold that HG CAN and will use Macross where possible but will run like h*ll away from it in anything that will be shown on TV or in a theater. I agree 100% with your statements on the recap. There seemed to be a lot of fear from the writers about discussing the first arch of Robotech. I would imagine they were trying to be as non-specific as possible as to not get new viewers lost right from the get-go but I sure don't think that's how it plays out. I've read a lot of reviews on the show now from a lot of different sources now. The animation is generally panned as being standard at best for five years ago, the character designs are generally panned for being cookie-cutter with odd proportions, and the story is generally panned as being catered to the existing fans and having no resolution. The third complaint usually brings out the ire of Robotech fans (again, who the story was catered to) who point out that the movie is meant to be the start of something, not the end. It's funny though, some very large criticisms are heaped on the film but the score almost always ends up being average rather than terrible. -
So are they starting with the Ride Armors or jumping straight to the Legioss SHUSH!!! A man can dream.

Ooh I hope that's true.

I, for one, would be totally fine with the Zentraedi being renamed the "Zents" in Robotech. I dont' think that would stir and legal commotion and it sounds like it just might be a natural English-ifying of an originally alien term. -

I agree to an extent but doesn't Marcus say "We should kill all aliens" or something to that effect. I think it was written as it was to play on Marcus' ignorance... although I thought "I'm half Zentraedi" would have sounded better also. -

See, what ya gotta understand is, through some mysterious attribute of Protoculture the Zents were able to be huge. Once humans got this technology it was only a matter of time before they started applying it to specific body parts. All the dudes have macronized wangs and all the chicks have macronized boobs, that's the miracle of Protoculture! -

So, you're saying it's more than like what happens here where six threads exist dedicated to the same thing so they lock 5 of them to let one live on? I mean, sometimes there's such a thing as simple maintenance and I'm sure if I go over to their site right now I'll find a dozen Shadow Chronicles threads. Let me know the parameters and I'd love to test this by throwing some blatant hatred within the Terms of Use and see if they delete it. I've been on those boards a lot for a long time and have said some pretty terrible things and the only repercussion I ever got was from a mod asking me to tone it down. -

I gotta know, what exactly do you think is happening at RT.com? Do you think they're deleting people's negative comments? On a side note (honestly, not directed at anyone here, my question just reminded me of this), I've seen MANY people complain about threads over at RT.com being deleted. Almost every time, if I had a chance to view the thread before it's deletion, it has always flagrantly broken the Terms of Use. RT.com is a commercial website, not a fansite, they do have rules that they do enforce. I have written some lengthy tirades over there about the show sucking, about the toys sucking, and about all manner of things sucking. They never seem to mind so long as I don't tell anyone where to buy better toys, what toys are better, or swear. -

So all anime are cartoons but not all cartoons are anime. I'll stick to calling them all cartoons. -

LOL, that i actually like! Anime is just too broad of a cartoon term. It's kind of like what that politician said about indency on TV (i think that's what it was). "I can't define it, but i know it when i see it!" It's all just vague... Edit - While I think it's silly to get hung up on cartoon labels, to each their own. -

Yes, we should not apply the french word for "cartoon" to this Korean created OVA. I agree, only strictly Japanese made, completely in Japan, OVAs should receive the honor of the French title.... SO um, what can we call "anime" then? -

She just turns into energy and the energy later resembles a Phoenix. In the original Mospeada there's a case for the Regess as having no physical form at all... she's clearly transparent in many scenes. That said, she also shows off the ability to transmutate in her little spiritual fire pit quite frequently also. -

The best line in the movie: "Looking forward to it Sir." I don't know why but I found that hilarious (if you don't know what I'm talking about, Scott says it at a completely inappropriate moment). You reminded me of the best line in the original Robotech: "Those missing in action, where are they?" - Emerson
