After years of pain-staking review, we have decided that the original art of the Inbit is unsatisfactory, so we have re-imagineered it to look much different... and we like it better... so that's the toy you will get. Thank you for your dire desire for any Inbit toy, we're glad to take your money.

The Kaiyodos don't really transform though, they're like rudimentary Legos. You have it in fighter mode, remove half the parts, replace it with other parts and it's in GERWALK, then you take half the parts off, replace it with other parts, and it's the world's most craptastic battloid. The Taka ParoValk (or Toynami Morpher) is smaller than the Henkei valk and the Henkei is about the same size as a Jokemachine.

Shouldn't this be a poll? I'm all about the LV#1 VF-1A. After that would probably be every other 1/48 VF-1 incarnation. After that I'd be stuck between the VF-0 and the 1/60 YF-19 (Fold edition). The YF-19 just doesn't give me that solid feel I love in my 1/48s and the VF-0 has the obvious shoulder problems.

Both had wives and kids if memory serves... that kind of lifestyle can be demanding.

I'm not too thrilled with these either. I think Yamato hasn't been having much luck with colorful paint jobs though. Their original 25th paint schemes flopped terribly, the Angel Birds seems to be languishing, the LVII is in bargain bins everywhere... the Stealth, on the other hand, seems to have done much better than expected. Who would have thought the Stealth Fast Packs would draw so much attention? Actually, this release of another black Valk may trigger a re-release of those Stealth Fast Packs...

Macross 25th Anniversary and upcoming new TV series thread
jenius replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Kawamori spent a lot of time in SF, he did put references to San Francisco in other works (yes, the radio station bumper sticker). If anyone has the Animeigo set of Macross lying around I think there's a good paragraph of Kawamori's love for SF in the notes. -
Toynami's MPC Alphas were originally displayed in the metallic colors that later appeared on superposeables. Obviously production versions were different so there is still hope.

You can find both the blue guy and the woodland versions at pretty steep discounts. As the blue guy is in the anime I'm going with Mister E. I honestly like them all though but if I were to pick a least favorite it'd probably be the woodland.

That's someone in HK who wants $65 for shipping!!! I'm guessing you copied the wrong link..

The CAD shows no heel joint.

bikes look a tiny bit small, necks look a tiny bit long, but overall i'm pretty impressed at this stage. I think the scariest detail is definitely that the ride armor apparently can't support its own weight... hopefully that won't be the case when all is said and done. Too bad CMs didn't really make a showing. I'm REALLY hoping that Inbit is just something they mocked up for this display and not something they actually intend to sell.

The term "protoculture addict" would be a Robotech reference. The term "protoculture" is both a Robotech and Macross reference. Referring to "Protoculture" as the pioneers of a galactic empire would be a purely Macross reference.

i'm pretty sure these were just an attempt to make money off of what originally was intended to be store displays. Store displays are typically static and more or less crappy but they draw your attention. Imagine one of these superscales at a convention with all the MPCs in front of it. It's the MPCs you're meant to buy. Since Toynami took the effort though to make the super scales they figured they'd actually make more and sell them but c'mon, who besides store owners would buy them at any cost? It was all just a big failure but once in a blue moon one does pop up on eBay so a few people apparently bit on them.

Toynami has never been at all timely, accurate, or informative on their site. The site is just terrible. I wouldn't read anything at all into anything you gleam there.

May I humbly recommend you click on this link here. It's my website dedicated to Robotech and Macross toys and I believe you'll find an article on every Alpha toy ever made there.

Stealth FIGHTER, not bomber Ruski. The bomber is the flying wing, it doesn't have much in common with the 17.

the FP version is floppier than the non FP version but has a sleeker profile. The FP version is also harder to transform properly. Of course, the FP version does have the guns. The original has a deep blue color as opposed to the FP's purple. Uh, wait for the 1/60.

I'm pretty sure Eugimon has this one figured out... coming from a VF-1 familiarity those knees are a bit unexpected.

I'll have a review on my website probably about this time next week. Unfortunately I didn't take a comparison pic with a 1/48 (all my 1/48s were in storage at the time) so all I can do is echo Mowe's statements regarding size. It definitely has more of a presence than a 1/48 on a shelf, especially in Gerwalk/Artillery mode. Is this mech on March's M3 yet? If so you can get the overall dimensions, divide by 100, and that SHOULD give you a rough estimate of overall proportions.

Ugh, the 19's Gerwalk is wonky, the arms over the wings thing is just silly and it never sits or looks right. I'm on the VF-1 as the winner in the Gerwalk category with the Zero right behind it. My Fold Drive 19 should be coming in this week... sounds like I'll have to take some pictures to justify my opinion <GLEE>

I'm not sure it's the head sculpt sucking on the 1J as much as it is the neck is just too long. I think the 1A does the best job of hiding the neck and I think the 1S sculpt is so lame because they tried to elongate it to cover some of that neck up.

Says Graham as he whirls hirls his 1/60 Yamato 1S around the room... Just playin' of course. When fugly heads get in the way, it's just more time for Gerwalk or Fighter mode! With the fast pack I'm hoping the weaknesses of the 1/100 fighter mode will be largely concealed... time will tell. I'll be interested to see how well the display stand cup holds up to the extra weight of fast packs as well.

don't mind me, i'm feelin' nit-picky lately i guess,
