People made "credit card valks" out of stripped Stealths if that helps you out. I still think it's wrong to consider the Meteor Buster anything more than a custom even if it is a custom based off of Kawamori's input and given out as a prize by a magazine.

No, I think that's a very cool scene, but a bayonet is different from a separate knife. It turns the expended gun you have from a bludgeoning weapon to a stabbing weapon. Also, it wasn't like the bad guy was shown being unaffected by all of Isamu's bullets only to finally be injured by his bayonet.

I didn't think the Meteor Busters was a Yamato product, I thought they (a magazine) were just giving away a custom Yammy 1/48 based on a Kawamori drawing or something. To be fair, he did list three items but I was just about to point out he had a Mospeada item in there too:

While that may be true in general, I think most people on these boards have seen more of Southern Cross and Mospeada than many other animes out there. Also, I thought this board got all agro on people for posting download sites to licensed material? LOL, these probably don't count because of HG involvement though!

I'm definitely planning on buying one but I was waiting until they got to MPC prices (like $55 shipped). Part of me refuses to believe they're actually WORSE than Toynami's offerings. There's also some strange backstory on who made them and how though as Toynami seems to be blaming Aoshima for the problems and Aoshima seems to be blaming Toynami (so says some mod at RT.com though... so take that for what it's worth).

Agreed, both are much better in their original Japanese incarnations but Southern Cross is completely different. Mospeada's changes are a lot more minor and tend to flesh out the inbit a bit more (they're not really parasitic creatures, they're rebuilding the Earth).

Imagine you, right now, driving down the street. This may not be true of you but also imagine you stand very averse to physical violence after years of war. Now imagine your car transformed into a forty foot tall robot just in time to be attacked by a 40' alien soldier. That's a bit more jarring than being on a space colony where you know all sorts of aliens are out to get you and you're in training to be a soldier when you get a sudden opportunity to act as one. Now, since Alto in episode one ends in what is a clear homage to a scene from Hikaru in the first Macross series I'd say it's hard to paint Hikaru as some do-nothing panzy in the beginning of Macross. I'd say he had a lot more going on.

I thought it looked more like the colony found the bugs. Don't we see the bug kick on? It seems to me like the elintseeker entered the bug's area which set them off. It didn't seem to me like th bugs were out in space pursuing anything.

while that is pretty cool and very artistic.... I wouldn't really vote for it as a scheme... it's a bit too conspicuous for my shelves.

Nah, Focker trumps that rule and I think Kakizake's hair was similar in length to Hikaru's (and wouldn't Gamlin's be similar in length to Basara's?).

There really isn't much to follow. One of the mags, I forget which one but probably Toyfare, posted a tentative release schedule (I'm adding the word tentative). IIRC it said the Beta was due out in spring and the Cyclone would follow in the summer. The only problem with that is that Toynami seems pretty incapable of doing that since they always lag a couple to a few months between paint variations. That means if the first Beta hit in March (what are the odds?) we'd go right up until near xmas with the slow trickle of paint variations before seeing the Cyclone. Also, it makes sense that the Beta MPCs would be followed by Aoshima variants so I have a real hard time believing we're going to see two MPCs next year. Also, has anyone seen any new Toynami products up for preorder? If you have, it was probably the Cyclone which makes things seem even more questionable. As to the Shadow Chronicles MPCs/Imen/Superposeables, nothing has been heard of them that I recall since they made their showing. There have been some odd rumors about a Shadow Chronicles video game though (???) and some speculation that the Shadow Chronicles toys would come out concurrently with its release. At this point I'm thinking anything Shadow Chronicles is more likely going to have to wait until the second episode of that series. Uh, just to clear things up, I'm no insider and this is no scoop, just me making observations and sharing what little bits I've gleamed from the Internet. I may be proven very wrong in a number of ways. EDIT - I said Megahouse where I meant Aoshima originally.

Not that I place any faith in what Toynami tells magazines or the public at large, but the Toynami Beta is supposedly the next MPC due out which SHOULD mean that it's already in production and so this CMs thing shouldn't be able to kill it.

Those were Takatoku Henkei valks, the only place you can reliably get them is eBay (that I know of). Lots of knocks off were made that are similar though that can be found cheaper. Here are some new images since I've been updating some of my retro reviews lately -
