Too many absolutes going on in this thread. Opinions may not be right or wrong but they can certainly be more or less justified. If I say to you "This CMs Legioss is balls, it's totally going to break the first time anyone handles it." Is that an opinion? I suppose. Is it an opinion you shouldn't totally rip on for being completely unjustified? Well, up until the release of the Ride Armors I might have (although I may have upset someone for picking on someone else's complaints). Yes, sometimes people it actually does make sense to point out flaws in other people's opinions (or to complain about complaints if you will). So long as everyone keeps it civil, what's the problem? Sometimes it even leads to new discoveries and brings to light other flaws/gimmicks that convince people to/not to make preorders.

The Imai kit is awesome, I think the accusation that should have been leveled at Toynami is that they weren't making the toy big enough. I do think that's where a lot of that "ripping off" criticism was really gunning for because people were unhappy with the size of the model and wanted Toynami to do something more comparable in size to the Gakken 1/35. On the other hand, I think if Toynami showed us this Legioss/Tread combo we all would have been demanding they had just used the Imai kit... So what's the answer? The Imai kit in 1/35 scale people!!! (of course, with all the little tweaks that the improved size would allow like much more articulation).

A very similar thread existed not too long ago. There's a Yamato Credit Card Special valk that was awarded to like three Japanese credit card holders (completely black 1/48 VF-1). That's probably the rarest. There's some goofy stuff out that's pretty impossible to get. The Yamato 1/48 LowVis 1 is rumored to only have 5K pieces in existence.
-
You won't until you have it in person... When you have it in hand you'll probably be able to tell by how tight the missiles fit on the wing.
-
1/48 scale was the rumor, should put them at about the size of the Toynami MPC. The Beta is wrong though, it's smaller than 1/48 scale.

This toy is expensive at $60 and almost every single review says "You will break it when you transform it, especially the windscreen." When that's the case it seems much more irresponsbile to tell people "Go buy one because you'll love it!" than it does to tell them to stay away from it. How many times on MW do you hear people saying "Wait for a 2nd edition!" Is that irresponsible? 'cause it's essentially what seems to be happening here. That is a lame excuse. Small toys do NOT *HAVE* to be fragile. If they are it's a design flaw. What has to happen as you reduce scale is you simplify the toy so it can still be handled. You're acknowledging that CMs failed to do this while simultaneously ignoring that it's an issue. It doesn't work that way. QFT.

I'm pretty sure that HLJ shot is of the prototype as it looks a little more rough than some of the newer pics we've seen.

Sorry! I was wrong, on the Toynami it is, indeed, two pieces of diecast, not plastic. On the Aoshima it is now three pieces of plastic. My bad, sorry.

Anybody got an extra back hump for a VF-0A?? See the pic below. I'll gladly give you my broken one and some cash. If you have one with broken shoulders you've fixed you can swap out my part for your part and you'd never know that hump was broken either.

The 21's gun looks.. out of place. They went for a slick stylized 21 with a gun that looks more like it'd go better with a brawny sculpt like the one shown on the 19.
-
Yeah but think of all the work that'd be! And you'd have to store it all somewhere. I'm worried like Eriku that these things will just be resold as new on eBay...

Conventions are coming up, I imagine we'll hear more proposed released dates they'll come nowhere near hitting soon.
-
If I may be so bold... it looks like they forgot to develop a lower body for it. IIRC though, it did make for a pretty great bad guy.

Do you mean the thigh area? It's plastic on both but on Aoshima they modded it to better resemble the model. This means there are two pieces of plastic forming the majority of the thigh with a flat piece of plastic applied to the top of the thigh (giving it a seamless finish) whereas the MPC is just two pieces of plastic put together (creating a seam down the middle). The mold was definitely changed to allow for this so it's not like the Aoshima has a bulge where that new cap piece of plastic is. I imagine if Toynami ever makes Shadow Chronicles Alphas they will retain this mod and the ratcheted joints as I would say the legs overall seem to be a big improvement. NOTE - Here's a fun fact I couldn't figure out where to put in the review. The MPC has a trap door on the back that gets pushed in by the cockpit when in battloid mode. Some endeavorous first owners of MPC tried to pull this trap door out to see if they couldn't squeeze the shoulder pod in when they transformed to the toy back to fighter mode (after all, it's called a "perfect transformation" toy right so why should you have to remove a part?). Anyway, pulling this door outward just snapped it in two, bad joojoo for the endeavorous owner. The new Aoshima version actually allows you to pull this door outward. Also, all the Aoshima versions have the hole for the destabilizer gun built into them... for no apparent reason (unless one thinks ahead to Shadow Chronicles toys). Okay, just plopped it in and you're right, the only Legioss we see are Houquet's and Yellow's/Ray's. I edited the review.

The CF 1/60 VF-1 was a TRU exclusive and it wasn't hard to come by. I imagine that there will be a while where all will be easily had (maybe not at much of a discount) but then things could get tough down the line.

Yep, I own it, but I was a bit busy with the pics to throw the episode in also to try to verify that piece of info. Thanks for clearing that up. Glad you all have appreciated the write-up! Drifand, you're probably making the right choice but it never hurts to watch the bargain bins. I got two Alphas for less than $40 and at that price you really can't go wrong.

I would probably lean toward the MPC. You can get it a few bucks cheaper and that center missile pod kinda throws me off. I suspect the Aoshima hands are more durable than the Toynami ones though so if you're planning to fiddle with the toy more the Aoshima one may prove a bit more durable. I wish I had a lot more experience with the Aoshima's to give better advice. Having only the one with the neck piece on backward demonstrate the arched back quality has my curiosity piqued on what difference I may have missed and if that isn't part of the reason why I couldn't push the wings in. Of all my MPCs I've only had one (out of about a dozen) seem at all loose at the hips so I'm not really sure how big of a benefit the ratcheting hips are (although they do feel nice). Man, it's a really really tough call. I would say display piece posed once or twice a year = MPC, display piece posed 3-5 times a year = Aoshima, toy = neither.

OOh, somebody didn't get the memo. Millia has been updated to Miria and Exsedol Formo is now known as Exedor Folmo. Sorry. I SAY REGULT! NO, IT'S REGULD! Fun with languages

WTF? everything has a past, emotional or otherwise. My car has a past. Her past is a bit intriguing because she's a terminator working for humans. How does that happen? Why does the other Terminator only recognize her as an "Unknown Cyborg?" When they go to see humans sent back in time she makes some cryptic remark about how those particular humans have seen her before. Were they the humans that caught her originally? How has she been modified? Why did John send her of all things back in time? Why does she know so much information about John like the stories his mother read?

Ugh, I take offense to the notion that Joons are almost as good as Takas! From the moment I first picked a Joons up I knew that it was no where near as nice as the old Takas. Maybe Joons are better than many other knock-offs but I'm afraid they're a good way off from the original.

There is some mystery to develop with Summer AKA River's past. I'm kind of interested in that. Much of the other stuff is kind of fun to watch but certainly nothing to get cerebral about.

Alrighty, if I don't get too drunk at dinner then the full review will be going up tomorrow evening. I'm afraid my Ride Armor review probably won't go up for a couple weeks though. The good news is I think you're going to like this next one - Pic one - changes from the MPC, Kyp you can see the center attachment piece Pic two - this is just a teaser pic for the review
-
You'd be left with a plastic clip though that just dangled out in no man's land. It's not huge... but you'd notice it. I'll have a pic to follow though... to serve as a teaser for my review which is coming along quite nicely
