SaveRobotech, I wouldn't take it personally and I still don't understand anyone's real gripe. Doesn't it say Yamato will be selling it from their website later? Why is everyone trying to get this one now?
I get it, so you're BOTH melodramatic. Problem solved.
MacrossMan, stay the hell away from these eBay limited editions. You'll have it, or one just like it, six months from now at a fraction of the price.
Just got my box in and I'm pretty thrilled... I was scared for a moment I wouldn't have a complete set. I love how not secret Charaworks "secret" valks are. Here's what I got
VF-1S Super Roy x2
VF-1A Super Hik x2
VT-1 x 2
VF-1S Minmei x 1
VF-1A Hik x 1
VF-1A Kak x 1
VF-1J Max x 1
If anyone is looking for one of the extras I've listed (the top three) feel free to PM me!
The CMs comes really close to standing on its own while having a fair amount of poseability. If the toy was at a larger scale I think they could have pulled it off. Really tight joints, a fair amount of heft in the rider figure, and a very light bike ought to make it come together. If memory serves, someone modified a Gakken once to be ultra tight.
Anybody else hope Beagle/Toynami are taking notes or has everyone given up on any chance of that not sucking if it makes it past vaporware? Why in the world did these companies choose to make such tiny versions of such complicated toys? Since CMs clearly has a Mospeada license is there any sense in us hoping they'll revisit it with a release of larger ride armor toys?? Will we get a Mega House Legioss/Tread some day? Gimme more!
I caught all that but it sounds like some people think Bandai is going to somehow by exclusive rights to all Macross franchises if Mac F does really well... It seems like there's a healthy amount of over-reaction in this thread but such is the Internet.
The Ride Armor is supposed to be a Power Armor and the struts are supposed to work as depicted. The guantlets would be very heavy so the suit uses the struts in someway to help support the weight.
It's been a long time since I've seen a minty SDF-1 with planes still on sprue, decals not applied, and 100% complete Taka SDF-1 on ebay. The Wave 1/5000 may have reduced it's market value though.
$500 for the SDF-1 seems to be about the going rate but with vintage toys there's so much room for fluctuation. If it's in a great box and looks like it's never been touched it could hit the atmopshere.... or for some reason no one could want it at that moment and you could find it for a steal.
A Takatoku Tomahawk wouldn't be as bad as the Takatoku Monster and you could always go the Robotech Matchbox versions if you didn't mind the different paintjobs. If I had to guess, I'd say you're right at about the $700 mark for the items you mentioned give or take $100.
I think if I did it I would have gone with one larger autobot emblem on the heat shield and not have any at all on the nose. Totally personal preference thing and maybe I'm just tainted because that's how Macross' jollyroger works.
Looks like an excellent job. The 1/100 Toynamis make great fodder for custom jobs 'cause you don't have that fear of destroying a $100 toy over your head.
Shouldn't we all be praising Bandai for helping us get more Macross (shows) instead of complaining that they never gave us good enough toys? I mean, I'm a huge toy guy but it's the show that's most important. Beyond that, I know several people will now swear I love Bandai just like they do with Toynami, but I'm not going to write them off just because I haven't been thrilled with their old toys (since their DYRL releases). I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope their next effort amazes me.
Yamato's a sponsor of MW (look up and to the right), they just can't advertise Macross products in their ads here. Graham may not work for Yamato but he certainly has a symbiotic relationship with them. They give him inside scoops and he gives them free advertising for products they're not really allowed to discuss outside of Japan. I really doubt they'd care enough to try to silence any Bandai fever though since they aren't really in direct competition.
