Man, the american dollar must be like toilet paper in Japan right now.
-
I think if I did it I would have gone with one larger autobot emblem on the heat shield and not have any at all on the nose. Totally personal preference thing and maybe I'm just tainted because that's how Macross' jollyroger works.
-
Looks like an excellent job. The 1/100 Toynamis make great fodder for custom jobs 'cause you don't have that fear of destroying a $100 toy over your head.
-
Shouldn't we all be praising Bandai for helping us get more Macross (shows) instead of complaining that they never gave us good enough toys? I mean, I'm a huge toy guy but it's the show that's most important. Beyond that, I know several people will now swear I love Bandai just like they do with Toynami, but I'm not going to write them off just because I haven't been thrilled with their old toys (since their DYRL releases). I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope their next effort amazes me.

Thanks Graham, I should have just assumed so much.

Yamato's a sponsor of MW (look up and to the right), they just can't advertise Macross products in their ads here. Graham may not work for Yamato but he certainly has a symbiotic relationship with them. They give him inside scoops and he gives them free advertising for products they're not really allowed to discuss outside of Japan. I really doubt they'd care enough to try to silence any Bandai fever though since they aren't really in direct competition.

Alex will be played by Vin Diesel... I can see it now.
-
At this point maybe they're just re-making it?
-
Hey now, it kinda is! Not really in a way that a toy could ever emulate perfectly though. I don't mind a few parts being taken off and put back on but the idea of parts left over... that's sad to me.
-
Hey, so will Bandai start supporting MW now? I think it'd be sad if on the day a chogokin VF-25 gets released MW has the latest Yammy 1/60 VF-1 on its home page. Then again, I guess Bandai and Yamato aren't really in direct competition so maybe Yamato wouldn't be too upset if MW had a Bandai toy on its home page.

The review score may be good but it lists a lot of things that many people may take issue with (but Alex didn't find were all that horrible). In my opinion that's what makes it a good review, there are plenty of observations to let us come to our own decisions about the toy. I'll tell you right now, that doesn't sound like an 8/10 toy to me. It makes perfect sense that people would be canceling their preorders based on that review even if Alex was overall happy with it because some of the stuff he doesn't mind will be more important to them. If one of the things you love most about your CMs Ride Armor is that there aren't left over pieces to tuck away after you transform it then there's not going to be a whole lot this Mega House toy would have to offer you.
-
Yeah, that's why I hate getting new releases from US companies. I was hoping since he seemed to get the CMs in so quickly the MH ones might follow suit but I guess not. Oh well... looks like I'll be playing with a Yamato YF-21 1/60 at about the same time I'm playing with my brand new Ride Armor toys...
-
It'd be useless anyway, Toynami never sticks to what they tell magazines or people at the various conventions so what would make them tell anyone else something more truthful. I'm sure if you were able to ask George Sohn right now he'd say "Oh, very soon!" and then you could begin the holding your breath game.

I'm guessing you're judging this more on what Exo says and less on what I say. Just because a man isn't willing to irrationally blame all of the world's problems on one toy manufacturer does not make him a steadfast supporter of said toy company. I still think Yamato's original VF-1 1/60s suck and I'm pretty sure it was my constant reiteration of that that got me the reputation. The fact these don't say "Made by Toynami" only proves what I was saying all along, this is a Mega House toy and people's praise or ire should be directed squarely at them (except Exo's). So far I'm thoroughly unimpressed by everything I've heard, I'm really hoping that actually having the toy will re-spark my initial excitement.

Wow, six or seven parts, fork left over after transformation, wheels don't spin, dark pegs that fall off, and it can't stand on its own? It must be truly a BEAUTIFUL piece to still be liked with a laundry list like that.
-
I suspect you'll like the painted pic more in person. remember there's a thin warped piece of plastic over the head that's altering the image beneath and that the picture is taken closer than your face will be 99% of the time. Look at all the smudges on the CMs one you'd never notice unless you had a camera right up to it:

LOL, I was wondering how long it'd be before someone said "NOOOOO!!! That's lineart I was trying to hold out on people!"
-
I got mine from LOS at LAFToys so this will be a good test to see how long the delay is from doing that. I imagine it will probably take him like a week to get it in and then another week to get it to me. Then it'll probably take me a week to get a review up. Man, waiting sucks.

Great, so you're going to have to band together with other members and each buy a blind box and then mix and match until each of you has a complete set. That, OR you could pay some guy in Japan 2x MSRP by buying his set he already completed off of eBay.
-
Apparently Sundown and I were noticing the same things.
-
Nice, way to end it with the Super Condor in action! Is it just me or does it seem like they were working hard on making Hover Ride Armors?
-
Wow, that is some of the coolest stuff I have seen in a very long time! So many different types of unused mechs! Granted, some of the stuff I'm happy they didn't use, and some of it you can clearly see is work in progress that got us to the finished designs, but it is so great to actually see the steps taken. Amazing stuff, thanks Jasconc!

psst, those aren't GNU, those are the 1/200 gashapon.

A Legioss stands 8.75meters tall (according to the RT infopedia) so at 1/18 = 19.138 inches tall or 48.61cm if my math is correct. A Beta stands 13.7 meters tall so it'd be 29.95" or 76.11cm
