I suspect the red will actually end up in bargain bins at some point only years later to be redeemed by fetching a premium... that seems to be the typical history of the red guy.

Macross Frontier Episode 3 Talkback Thread *READ 1st Post*
jenius replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
This episode was kinda "meh" for me. Did no one care to hear how Gilliam died anymore? It was a beautiful episode, and fun, but a lot of it felt very familiar and predictable... it was all kind of a "dangle the carrot" episode. "Oh, so you want to know who the Varja are? Tune in next week!" Ozma practically said that. I also think it's pretty rude to go to a hospital, find a guy who narrowly escaped death, and then yell at him angrily about his poor psuedo parenting abilities. That definitely felt like a forced scene to keep the plot chugging (so in that respect, I forgive it). I wasn't too fond of the Leon angle because the girl was cute and that guy is creepy. I like his style though... "I'm off work, do me." So wishing I had a hot secretary right now (not that that girl was his secretary at all). So I'm not saying it was a bad episode but it didn't do much to rock my world. I'm guessing the next episode will have some scenes straight from Hikaru's training episode. I'm not too over all the similarites to the original but I'm also afraid about it staying fresh (of course, I understand the average viewer isn't as versed with the original as we are). -
I don't think it's really fair to say "the fans" have been craving those valks. The diehard collectors have been craving those valks but the reason they're never reissued is because the average fan has not... although I imagine a strike reissue would sell pretty well.

Good effort Gilermo. How'd you get the wheels to stay up? Any chance it'd work with the wheels pointed outward?
-
Isn't that a personal question? No, the MH can't quite pull off what that CMs is doing. I'm sure we can find some poses the MH can do that the CM can't handle though... maybe that's a fun challenge to throw out.

Odd, I have placed orders for the green and red through them and they've been very communicative through email. They told me the red will, with any luck, start shipping this upcoming Tuesday.

Macross variable fighter/mecha pose thread

It's in the Hall of Super Threads or whatever. It's definitely still around. http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showforum=37 -
The only VF-0 you can trust for sure is the VF-0S that comes with the Ghost package. There's a 2nd edition VF-0S that's also safe and sold stand alone but you'll never know which one you're buying unless you can take it out of the box and see if the feet click when pulled to the extended position. For the YF-19 the only big issue is the gun being crooked on 1st edition toys. The durability issues weren't as bad as the atrocious VF-0 debacle. Flexi-display stands (not sure where you were looking) are available from member LOS at www.laftoys.com.

I used to own 4 Detolfs which had some perks but next time I'm defintiely going to go with something bigger/better. My advice? Craigslist. Stores close all the time and they sell their leftover display cases.

Once my red and green CMs legioss/tread sets come in I think I'm going to have to do a group shot...
-
Oh yes, I'm definitely kidding. I've got no noble gasses keeping my toys safe... They're just in big plastic tubs in storage
-
LOL. My toy collection is worth $10K, the chamber in which I keep them cost $20K to build. It's just so sad I never get to visit my toys after they go in.

That's actually exactly how it works in an economic sense. Right now our dollar is doing the dirty work and blowing but it's all a regulating process that will work to make the economy stronger eventually which will allow the dollar to stop blowing. All the banks got crazy stupid and now we all get to pay the price. Oh well. At least it doesn't look like it's plunging any more.

I like.... the search button! A temporal loop of Mac7 "No, this show really does have some redeeming qualities!"
-
I think it's because those harsh chemicals actually eat away at the plastic itself. Toothpaste is a fine grit sand paper, hydrogen peroxide when rubbed could be similar, bleach is just dag nasty to everything.

Is it 3D, is it 3D CGI, or is it Live Action? There are 3D movies that are live action... I can't read the link though, I'm at work.

You know, I'm becoming pretty sure that the hands on the Aoshima actually are improved. That's not to say they're perfect now by any means, but they feel more solid in my hands and I suspect they're made of a more durable material. The build tolerances are even worse though then are on the Toynami MPC so it's an even greater gamble as to whether or not you'll get a good one. The best example I could think of as to how bad the Aoshimas are built are how the front winglets look in soldier mode tucked behind the head. On my MPCs these winglets come together nearly perfectly, on all my Aoshimas they leave slighlty mishapen gaps. The MPC and Aoshimas have great sculpts but the greatness ended there.

It's the TRU CF, the landing gear doors are white.... well, were white, now two of the four are yellow on mine

aw you could go visit my site for all the info you need Summaries: If you're an accuracy and scale nazi you're going to hate these toys. They take all sorts of liberties. Durability and finish is top notch though, blows the Toynami/Aoshima pieces out of the water. Detail probably goes to the CMs but some of the detail is not accurate and most of it is only visible upon very close inspection.

Macross Saga/Robotech Live Action Movie Designs...
jenius replied to Kronnang Dunn's topic in Fan Works
Good artwork. I think if they ever do actually make this movie, it would serve them much better to actually use designs that unify the series. Your designs seem to largely be more detailed reimaginations of Macross designs (which is not a bad thing) but I think the movie creators would do better to start from scratch. Instead of the first "veritech" resembling a Valkyrie it should look like a precursor to the Alpha. Instead of the variable tank you have it should look like a VHT. Really, the entire Zentraedi should be reimagined to have mecha that look like something from The Masters branch of the series. For example, the male/female power armors should look like primitive Bioroids. Then, if they ever make a Masters-like sequel to the original the Earth forces should use the same destroids and introduce a couple new and improved weapons after showing how obsolete the weaponry from the first war has become. Maybe the hovercycle should be replaced by a prototype Cyclone. The AGAC should be replaced by the Alpha. -
Macross Frontier Episode 2 Talkback Thread *READ 1st Post*
jenius replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
I just watched for the first time. Damn fine episode with one exception, the scenes in Ozma's car are atrociously animated. They look like some bad video game. In fact, they look so bad, I figured the camera actually was going to pull back and we'd learn that someone was in the arcade (the arcade would be another nice homage to the original series). Alas, it was just really bad animation. Still, that tiny bit did nothing to dampen my appreciation of that episode which was all sorts of great. I wish it took more than Ranka barely singing a sentence or two to really grab the Varja's attention. The blue VF-25 with a sniper rifle reminded me in that scene where it first showed up of Max's VF-1A landing in the city and preparing to do battle with Miria's Q-Rau. -
You need to look closer! Every now and then you'll see some for sell with mild yellowing. Otherwise, yes, the manufacturing process does have a lot to do with how quickly the plastic yellows. Any sort of contaminant in the creation process will lead to the plastic breaking down quicker. Yamato's 1/60 efforts are clearly inferior specimens to the 1/48 line as I've seen much worse yellowing on them. Usually when I see a yellow 1/48 it's yellowed because of direct sun exposure... the 1/60s frequently have irregular yellowing due to some pieces of plastic being better quality than others (the landing gear doors on my TRU never saw sunlight and yet still yellowed).

Unfortunately there is no fix, you can only conceal it. You could theoretically rub off the affected area but it'd produce an uneven finish unless you did that to the whole toy. The best bet is paint... it's time to start making some customs!

Gray for Fastpacks versions, blue for no fast packs I would imagine. -
Those are some very strange numbers for MW and RT.com. I like the number of MWers that don't fit into an ethnicity. I would also guess that the average user of this site makes more than Quantcast indicates and is better educated.
