Bandai/Tamashi Nations 1/100 lineup. 2009 takeoff!
jenius replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I'd much rather have a toy be perfect transformation and have some ugly bits than imperfect transformation ANY day. Non PT toys inevitably fall apart, pieces pop off and get lost, and usually they're not visually all that much better. Even in larger scale non-PT toys like the Yamato 1/60 V1 just suck. Yes, the Toynami 1/100 could look and function better in many respects but it's still a nice compromise in all three modes and gets the job done (the swing bars are TEENY in comparison to older toys although they do need a lock). As far as I'm concerned, if they're going to charge $39.99 for these then there better be a LOT of engineering going into them and that better mean they're perfect transformation. I don't think a Lego version of transformation should run nearly this expensive. If it's $39.99 and twice as nice as the Toynami 1/100 I'm going to LOVE this line. -
I'll be making a post soon on my site (maybe next Monday?) with comparison pics of all the major VF-1 toys. You might find it handy... at least I hope you do, that's the point of the post. In the meantime I'll be updating old VF-1 posts so the scores present an accurate ranking. It's a pain but the summary goes: VF-1 v2.0 FTW.

When I started posting toy reviews I figured I'd do it for a few months, maybe a year, and then everything I owned would be on the site and I'd have to move onto something else. It's now been more than a couple years and new stuff is being released so frequently that I can't even come close to keeping up. I definitely did not see this coming. If I did one post a week I could go through the rest of the year posting nothing but renaissance toys that currently aren't on my site. Wow... so much good stuff.

I believe my post here goes over the differences: http://anymoon.com/blog/2008/02/08/aoshima...oy-148-legioss/ They're similar, and they both have some problems. If you're in the US though I'd opt for the Toynami MPC, it's a iny bit less of a crapshoot over the Aoshima and looks more anime accurate. That's just my opinion.

Yes, that's the Toynami, and no one can tell you much about it as it hasn't been released yet. Supposedly it'll be out in November.

Yep, it's the adapter plate that's breaking. They've all broken where the plastic is thinnest outside the large center hole. It would appear the best bet for fixing this would be to reduce the thickness of the hard point on the wing rather than fiddling with the adapter plate itself.

I was on vacation for a week, I expected to come back and see an ep21 discussion. Was the show not on the air last week? The suspense is killing me. Ep 20 gets a thumbs up from me. I kinda wish Michel didn't try to squeeze in a "now that I see my entrails I realize I love you" moment but otherwise it was all gravy. EDIT - see the 21 thread now. Now to keep an eye for subs... w00t. -
yeah, over-priced. If it were perfectly mint that would be about right though... maybe still a bit on the high price. They can go much lower too if you're lucky.

Every set of twin missiles I applied to the wings broke. I'm very let down. I should have a full review up some time in September. Also, if you're applying them on Wave 1 valks you will notice even more floppiness due to the additional weight. Wave 2 seemed to handle them pretty nice and they are a good addition to any valk's battroid mode.

I go back and forth on the recessed head. From straight ahead it makes the mech look more brutish and intimidating (especially with Fast Packs as Ghostryder noted). From the sides though the elevated head is a clear advantage.

Thanks for the pics! Odd that on the most purple of toys they changed the visor to black (although it still looks better black). I'm looking forward to getting one at some point. Sigh... at this point I might as well just leave a credit card with Overdrive since so many toys are coming out. Gotta preorder that Beagle!

I didn't like that bullet and finger print thing... but maybe I misunderstood something. The Joker actually anticipated that Batman would arrive before the police, steal a hunk of the wall from a crime scene, and have the equipment capable of reconstructing a fingerprint he planted. That seems like a pretty long shot. I didn't let it bother me too much though because it wasn't too integral to the plot in the end. All it did was set Batman up for a potential death at the hand of snipers although I guess it was also important in causing the distraction Joker used to take his shot at the Mayor.

Ask that question again, this time about something having anything to do with Mospeada. You can also see from preorder prices everywhere that toynami is simply saving you on shipping costs as the MSRP here seems to be the same as it is in Japan.

I'm no lawyer but I'd imagine that Fox did itself no favors in waiting so long to bring the issue up. I believe they had an obligation to act when they became aware of the infringement and are supposed to act in a manner as to reduce damages to all parties. Waiting until a movie has been filmed before pressing an issue that has been public knowledge for years is bad play. I also imagine Fox's hard line stance is just posturing to try to work out another quarter of a percent in any deal that gets brokered.

Toynami only speculated at price, they probably just guessed wrong.

Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development
jenius replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Word on the street is that the new 1/60 VF-11B is very dark gray... -
I don't think anyone can give a definitive answer regarding the Toynami cockpit because Toynami isn't exactly careful about what prototype pictures they use to show off their upcoming release (and stores are even less careful). If Toynami's most recent show is indicative of what the release will look like then the cockpit will simply fold down and be visible in battloid mode. It doesn't appear that it's removeable and a lot of confusion comes from Toynami's early prototypes which weren't 100% transformable (they didn't know what to do about the cockpit back then so they simply excluded it from their battloid prototype). I need to correct myself, I do not have a Lansey Tread or a Seven Ride Armor. Both are vintage and hard to come by, the Lansay Tread being the much harder of the two. If anyone has either for sale, PM me. I've been patiently waiting for the Toynami release in the hope of hammering the price on the Lansay down a bit lower.

So who thinks Macross Frontier is going to end with a guy setting off a super dimensional bomb on a planet with a space elevator?

Southern Cross & Genesis Climber Mospeada

I have the one on the right and it's decent. -
I think you guys are being more bothered by the cloth in the pictures then you would be in person. Chances are Beagle went this route because they gave the figure some burly articulation and thus the cloth covers up some pretty garrish joints. After all, it's supposed to be a guy in there, seeing joints is a bit of a turn off. Now, look at the Mega House figures. Those things are absolutely hideous before you put the armor on them or put them on the bike and look at them at some angle that helps hide how un-human-like they are. As to perfect transformation, if the anime doesn't show things flying off and then being magically reapplied I don't want to have to do that with my toys. If the anime uses magic then toy designers need to figure out ways to emulate that magic. Good example: the CMs Tread. The cockpit for the Tread just goes down in the anime and then it is magically gone. CMs figured out a way of making it work (Toynami apparently didn't). Look at what Yamato did with the legs on the YF-19. Yamato made parts that collapse into the leg to accomodate fighter mode. Heck, look at the CMs vs MH Ride Armors. The CMs version is as close to perfect transformation as I've seen. The Mega House version doesn't even try. A legioss toy ought to be of sufficient size where no anime magic is made. Between the CMs Legioss and the Toynami Alpha I think we've all seen there's no need for parts-forming in a Legioss.

Oh, the kickstand? It's not in the baggy, the kickstand is a TEENY TINY piece of plastic in the plastic tray, it has its own little spot.
-
FTF - I can't say anything for sure but you have to imagine it's a material more akin to riding leathers than to sweats. To make the whole thing work it's probably made out of some space age fiber that's bullet proof (afterall, Stig does fly through walls in his ride armor so the fabric must be pretty sturdy). EDIT - Nuk, yes, each MH comes with a stand. It should be included in a separate baggy taped to the back of the tray that holds the toy. EDIT 2 - I'm talking about the inner plastic tray that has the toy in it, not a cardboard tray that holds the inner plastic tray

MAKE POST 2 WORK... Can't get enough!!! Count me out on a Mega House Legioss... the last thing I want is a parts-forming Legioss.... I already have one made by Gakken and that's enough. Now, if Beagle wants to take a stab
