I'm fairly certain the Weathering editions all include water-slide decals so if someone wants them maybe someone could just reproduce the ones Yamato is already making.

Hiro Protagonist FTW!

That Blow Superior above is an event exclusive, the event is next week. The Dark Mospeada on HLJ is the black/white paint scheme.

Yep, so you decided you would hate it, bought it, and hated it. I'm shocked. Your complaints are valid though, there are seams that seemed a little too wide to me and the cloth could be a lot better. I've been thinking about buying a burgundy leather jacket from a thrift store for a mod but that seems like too much work right now. Still, that was the best Ride Armor toy you ever touched.

Atomski got Toynami'ed SOLVED:

The collectiondx video review got taken down... I hope because they're going to transform it with the head on. I'd rather see someone else do it so I can correct my review also instead of having to dig the toy out and do it myself . Yeah, I'm feeling lazy.

Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development

Or he only screwed up once... -
Likin' the vintage stuff, very nice.

So basically Pete, you're just saying "I don't care what anyone else says, anime shouldn't be made into live action." It's not something I'm sure I disagree with but you might want to work on being a bit more concise.

Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development
jenius replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
There's no way $115 is a legitimate price on the 11B. MSRP is way higher than that so either this guy has improper connections or he has his pricing confused with the VF-1. -
I originally read about it here: http://members.optusnet.com.au/~cyc01/gcmFAQ.htm

Yes, it is a mis-romanization of Brough Superior... and Fuke is actually "Houquet."

To a point. What I'm saying is they took a preproduction Stig sample and made some changes to it to create a preproduction Ray sample. It's not like they had actually made a dedicated Ray at that point so there's still hope that there will be changes made to make the Ray product superior to the Stig product.
-
It's hard to say but the prototype they were showing was just a Stig toy with the gun swapped on and a new head on the figure. Whether or not they could incorporate changes for the next project depends on when it's supposed to be released. If It's due out by the end of March they could probably only make very minor changes... like a different fabric. If it's not due out until the end of April there might be more hope.

It's quite possible. Then again, Star Wars starts with a larger preamble than I would imagine and then throws the audience straight into a battle. It seemed to work really well for Lucas.

New review of the Defender up on anymoon.com

I definitely would not anticipate a re-release of Stig by Beagle. I have to assume all this info gathering is more for the Ray release and it might as well be since Ray will need some hype. If Ray was just a straight reissue of Stig but with the gun and different figure they probably wouldn't sell that many. If Ray is an improvement that could go a long way.

Transformers is a good example. Any of you holding out hope that this will somehow be a faithful live action adaptation of the cartoon, you're just fooling yourself. It seems they're going to stick to a couple key aspects of the story, an alien ship crashing, humans making transformable jets, and then the aliens coming and starting a war. For people who haven't seen Robotech in 20 years, that's all it will need to be for them to recognize it as Robotech. Those people don't remember the names and backgrounds of the characters. Those people won't remember what Protoculture was or any point finer than that. The diehard fans who have seen Robotech at all recently will probably get a few dialogue bits that are nods to the original series but nothing much more than that. New fans, who probably will never watch the original cartoon, are what this movie will need to suck in so developing a story for them will be where the real effort lies.
-
I think some people in this thread are being confused. HG, without a doubt, owns all of the rights to everything Robotech. You have to think of Robotech being a unique creation and ignore the fact it is, at its core, and adaptation of three other unique creations. Since Robotech is an adaptation though it becomes it's own intellectual property giving its creators the ability to do whatever they want with it. There are issues caused by having that core though, wherever RT stuck too closely to the original property there would have to be changes. Since this is going to be a live action movie, there were likely going to be HUGE changes to the RT story any way. Now we'll all get to say "Ha, they made that change because they didn't have the rights to Macross" but the truth could just be they made a change because they felt it'd come over to the live action film world better.

Macross Chronicle Exclusive: 1/48 VF-1A TV Kakizaki Type
jenius replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Toys
Presumably they're Macross Chronicles exclusives and ordering will be the same as the Max 1A. -
It's pretty standard business to ask customers if they're satisfied with the product you've given them and to make changes if they're not. Even fast food companies have cards asking customers to rate their experience and to make notes where they think there should be improvement. The way in which Beagle is asking for feedback shouldn't be any means for criticism. They told a blogger in Japan who they have a relationship with to see if there'd been any common complaints... they didn't make a formal request from random customers to redesign their product for them. The customers are essentially the bosses of these companies... and I know I can do a lot of things at work my bosses can't but I still ask my bosses for feedback on how I could be a better employee. I think you're jinxing yourself Mr. Chogokin. Expect a good toy, a great toy, but not a perfect toy and you should be fine. I can all but guarantee you will think it's easily the best Ride Armor ever made. Hopefully all this feedback will make the Rand/Ray version even better.

Obviously a Robotech live action film would have to throw much of what we know about Robotech to the wind for a multitude of reasons. This opens the door too wide open so there's going to be lots of different visions produced by the people trying to scheme it up and create lots of problems reaching any sort of consensus. If I were working on the project, I'd much rather just make The New Generation be the movie. If it was successful you could do a Macross-like prequel. New Gen is so episodic in its construction that it lends itself most easily to being condensed in a huge way. Start with a preamble of Earth having been over-run by an alien species and scattered humanity empowered with alien technologies recovered from a crashed ship returning to their home planet to reclaim it. Then jump right into the first assault wave, Scott's journey, meeting up with friends, encountering resistance, forming his own gang, reaching Reflex Point, climactic battle, Invid leave, roll credits. They say the best way to pitch movies in Hollywood is to be able to summarize it in one sentence that compares it to a smash hit. Alien was "Jaws in space." New Gen could be "Robin Hood (the Kevin Costner film) in a Mad Max era."

Seeing as the majority of the complaints come from the first production run, I'd say it definitely has something to do with it. After that production run, the story goes, Yamato instructed the factory workers to be more gentle with the shoulder and since then the failure rate has gone way down. Yamato's thinking is that the shoulders are breaking because the pin was being hastily installed and flexing/damaging the plastic around it.

Official Bandai 1/60 Scale DX Toy Thread Ver.3
jenius replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Both my 25s are perfect, not a shoulder problem in the world. -
Supposedly yes. Not yet but there are some shows in Feb where it's expected to debut.
