HLJ hasn't responded but I think I get what they're doing, they're applying the Chinese tariff rate because the products originated in China. That's really following 'the letter of the law' as they say. I don't think that's what Anime Export did.

This IS nothing so far me... Haven't heard a peep.

I went to ship my DX Kai from HLJ but they want to collect 30% for duties to the US which is more than the shipping costs! The other stores I'm buying from are ignoring tariffs and letting the shipping companies bill me and I prefer that. Everywhere I look the duty is supposed to be 15% but I know all the shippers are adding processing fees on top of that. Here's the breakdown for the DX and two small Toyrise Scopedogs to California: Postage ¥10,270 JPY Duties ¥13,788 JPY Handling Fee ¥1,069 JPY Total: ¥25,127 I feel like the duties should be ¥6,894 which will still put shipping at ¥18,233! We need slow boat shipping to return.

I wish they had integrated the covers behind the head in fighter mode into the shield instead of leaving them hinged on the back of the shoulders. Stoked to see there's intake fan detail.
-
I think those holes are just thruster details and won't be used for any attachments and, if they make a P, they'll do new shoulders like they did for the HMR. Maybe they could be anchors for fighter booster attachment? The booster should connect to the back in battroid. Fighter is the mode where fancy engineering would need to be involved if they wanted to avoid attachment parts. We shall see!

While I'm sure there's plenty of 'who knows how the first buyer put it back in the box' I think there's also 'it was the 80s and the only rule at the factory was that all the contents had to be in the box.'
-
I'm guessing that's a translation of quality assurance activities.

That's Pailsen from the OVA, it's a nice touch!

Poor vf-17, looks so frail beside it.

Maybe they'll use quality plastic this time? Honestly, I'm let down already. With all the work Bandai put into the HMR joints? This thing is twice the size and the joints look old school still.

I feel whale blood customs coming.

I still think there's going to be an international release sometime soon (ish). That has to be why this was such a bizarre limited release right?

That Kai is looking nice and beefy from that angle.

I haven't handled mine in forever but I think they could have done the leg gun with a folding gun on the 1/65... Scale it 1/60 and give us two guns, one that fits and one that looks good.

I've been thinking about how the 19P magically gets a 19Kai face and it occurs to me that the 19Kai should have had a screen projecting a singing face all along. That would have allowed them to do a moving mouth and facial expressions to recreate a singer (not that I love that plot). The 19P could have turned on it's projector to create the 19Kai face in the same way... It's just then that Basara chooses to load that program. That's how I would retcon it.

Very cool, and that looks good!
-
Sorry if you discussed this already, but how did you make the hard point attachment pieces? Did you use a 3D scanner?
-
MMmmmmmm but the gunpod mounting would almost certainly be totally wrong on a VF-22 also right? That YF-21 toy is not good... hard to imagine how a VF-22 made from it would be any better than a VF-17 made from the VF-171.
-
I think they're making lemonade saying you can stow the gun in fighter unlike the old 1/65 they made.
-
So cool!

Maybe the true sequel to Tron is wreck it Ralph.

I've seen them multiple times and it has always been a great show.

NIN rules... I thought the special effects looked good enough to stream for free. I've only watched the first sequel once, feel like this will be the same.

How were they able to do 0A toys but not the VF-1?
