I think y'all are crazy... Ball joint ankles offer way better articulation which makes battroid way more fun. Stiffening up joints wouldn't be difficult but maybe i'm spoiled since my 19 is still solid as new.

If Yamato has taught us anything it's that we should expect reissues when demand dictates it. I would never throw too much money down on a Yamato product... it almost always will burn you. I would LOVE to see a Yamato 1/48 V2

Thanks, glad you like the review... I spent a lot of time photo-documenting the upgrades from the VF-25 and VF-27. I would give the edge to the YF-29 for the broader appeal but, from a scoring perspective, I gave it the edge because it comes with a stand. I had my VF-19 out while doing this review and I REALLY enjoy that toy... but for like $100 less the YF-29 is hard to beat. I also HATE the VF-19 GERWALK mode (not because of the toy... but because I think the GERWALK design of the VF-19 sucks) and I really enjoyed the YF-29's GERWALK so that's another thing to consider.

It's gotta be the sound booster... maybe it comes with the whole Fire Bomber band?

Did anyone hear about the replacement wings Yamato offered for the VF-19Kai? I was told that there was a paint issue with the original wings so I requested a pair. They arrived today... and it looks like the "paint issue" was that the red and blue tiny tips on the wings were reversed. That seems like the most minor "paint issue" I've ever seen in my life. The good news is, other than the few of us who heard replacements were offered, there should be a way to tell first editions from second editions (should second editions ever be made).

I saw an episode last night. Just some random episode. I should watch a random episode of classic Voltron to compare to. My memory of the classic show was that it was utterly terrible. The new Voltron seemed fine enough for a kids cartoon compared to the other rubbish they get to choose from these days... now to go watch the first episode of the new Thundercats.

Some hold their values better than others. I think Yamato got hit pretty hard by the economic collapse and so they over-estimated quantities and are still wiping out that inventory at reduced rates. I would guess smaller runs will be made of future releases which should limit the 50% off sales.

It always scares me when people discuss economics on the Internet. The best, by far, are people on news websites who have decided exactly what needs to be done to fix the economy or whose fault economic problems really are. So, that said, the Destroid toys are cool as shiz. If you don't own one, you're missing out. They cost about the same as valkyries because Yamato sells drastically fewer of them. So, whereas Yamato gets to spread the costs of the toy's production over X0,000 units of valkyries, they have to spread similar costs over Y,000 of destroids. They're spreading that amount over even fewer numbers of regults and 1/2000 SDF-1s which is why those items have astronomic prices... plus they get to add the "diehard" tax. EDIT - and yes, it scares me when I talk about economics on the Internet as well, it's never a good idea.

In my continuing and random effort to keep the memory of Mospeada alive, I just published an updated Mega House review. I might go back later and revise the scores downward... Just watched this (Skyline) and will concur it's not very good. One thought though, it has a little Southern Cross flavor to it. A mysterious alien faction shows up on earth, does some serious body snatching, and uses the snatched bodies to produce more warriors (that's a bit of a spoiler though since that doesn't get revealed until the end). The non-ending just seemed like a "oops, wrote ourselves into a corner... here's to hoping we can make a sequel." One of the aliens seemed very Matrix, another Alien looked like it was straight from the Lost Planet games.

At the price they charge for the VF-11, I'm afraid I'd need something that grabs me a bit more than that scheme. It's not bad, but not good enough for me to dive in.

People didn't buy these toys because they were over-priced. You could buy two Revoltechs at MSRP for the price of one GNu and the Revoltechs, while inferior in build and smaller, were more dynamic which most would argue is the point of these battroid mode only toys. Yamato further bungled the line with their improvement parts/super parts sold separately and lack of stands (initially). The VF-1 line was further bungled by showing prototypes of a VF-1S Focker with strike parts and then releasing non-super/strike versions of the toy. Why would you buy the first releases if a second release WITH the super/strike parts might be right around the corner? The obvious flaw there was that all releases should have included super/strike parts like Kaiyodo did with their better accessorized VF-1 Revoltech toys. They're definitely not bad toys but Yamato did a pretty poor job thinking the line through. When you look at the improvement parts for the Macross Plus toys your initial thought is "Why wasn't this how the toy was initially designed?"

From whati hear, yacolog posted news that Beagle has passed through bankruptcy and liquidation into non-existence. Rumor has it a shinobu head and camera were among the items swooped up. No word on who has the final fuke prototype. All flags are at half-mass today in mospeada fandom... Maybe not, I suppose these events happened a while ago.
