Does anyone know a good spot where I could get all the Votoms OVAs and newer shows? I would buy a legit version with English subtitles if available. If there is no legit version available and someone has them then shoot me a PM to discuss further.

Just pre-ordered mine... but I might wait to have it shipped until the VF-17 comes out... I suspect that means I'll be waiting a bit but I hope I'm wrong.

When did you become such a troll. I say "Maybe you're right" and you still feel the need to be snippy. You used to actually contribute around here.

When's the release date? I thought it was January. Maybe it is the final version. Maybe Bandai has a huge warehouse in China just full of Ozma toys waiting for whatever the release date is. Maybe they sent a couple back to Japan for marketing purposes. Maybe it's an artist's proof. Maybe it's a preproduction run. Who knows? I seem to recall hearing that this toy is due out three months from now so I'd suspect it's a preproduction run sent to Bandai so they could do some marketing and put it through the paces and then tell the factory whatever tweaks need to be made before doing the whole amount. I might be wrong. Even if I'm right, it doesn't mean Bandai will ask for any changes so ultimately it might be the same as the production run. Either way, I'm sure that particular toy is seeing a lot of action so the paint chipping isn't terribly surprising. In the end, it's a Bandai product, you're going to be able to chip the paint off of it. Usually being cautious helps reduce the likelihood (not something I would think is happening with that sample) so it's not something to freak out over... and not freaking out was the important thing.

To be clear, I said the Hi-Metal was better in ONE respect, the backpack placement and the lights by the shoulders. Here's the inevitable comparison shot:
-
I understand the common consensus that people don't mind that the battroid mode takes liberties from the line art. I'm not arguing for the creation of some massive scale toy with mechanisms that would allow for shifting proportions. For me, I would prefer the nosecone be slid down the less than a centimeter lower and the neck be at the proper location and size. I realize that this is nitpicking and that this would mean the nosecone would be drooping down a bit too low but since it's already much lower than the line art I don't think that'd be much of a problem. I also think this could be incredibly easily engineered and not at all unrealistic. As a result of putting the neck in the right spot I think it'd restore the appearance of some additional bulk in the chest. I also wish the backpack was higher up and the shoulder lights were bigger. Those are also nitpicks but I think that also helps battroid look a bit heftier. On that note, Bandai nailed the tail section and where it sits in battroid making their Hi-Metal more accurate in both battroid and fighter modes in that one respect.
-
I'm not saying that the 1/60 V2 doesn't come close... i'm just saying the line art looks a bit tougher.
-
That's the actual toy but it's not being released for months? It's a preproduction run at best... the kind that always has the warning "Final product may vary." I wouldn't freak out too much.
-
I admit, it's been a big pet peeve of mine and I'm sure I'm in the minority. For me, I feel like it removes some of the brutishness of the battroid mode. By introducing the collar and moving the neck upward it makes the chest look less bulky and gives the overall battroid the look of just your average joe humanoid form instead of a bruiser. MacrossJunkie's pics look great though so it looks like some massaging can get things closer.

No Beagle Blow Superior... that blows superior...
jenius replied to EXO's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It doesn't make business sense to release a brand new mold before a repaint or minor tweak of an existing mold. The costs of issuing far outweigh the additional sales. The ray release for beagle had an extremely low break even point, a fuke release would have had a very high break even point. So, even if they did sell a lot more fukes than rays chances are they would have reaped less overall profit. That is why you almost always see mold milking before entirely new products. A business must also always lead with its expected best seller to ensure viability. -
The conversation seems to have gone off course. Preference on vf-1 toys doesn't mean much for the vf-25 since you will now have two options, neither of which are yamato made. Sure, you have much smaller options in the vf100 an robot spirits lines but comparing those to the dx offerings is like expecting the 1/100 hi metal vf toys to be better than the 1/60 toys in every way. The new vf-25 looks very good but the design looks very similar to yf-29 so if you're deathly afraid of loose joints and not willing to tighten them up should they occur then you might wantto steer clear and wAit for the abundance od reviews that will come out. If you miss out on msrp priced toys you might be lucky and pick up a bundle release down the road.

Every company has their lemons. I love my hi metals.

I don't know about head detail, nut the lack of articulation is a concern. Not being able to cock a head kills posing a soldier mode toy or model. -
Yamato 1/60 VF-17 Nightmare Diamond Force

Sounds like yamato should have used the same mechanism to shrink the 17 but all these toys play with scale a little bit. -

No or extremely limited head articulation on that model equals fail. Thats the one thing i love about the toynami mpc. -

Looks like I might have to use Rinkya although those links you posted above looked pretty pricey too. Yamato never did a strikedog huh? That's too bad. A little Yamato Ypsilon + Strikedog set would be cool. Good catch on my quote up there Darrin. At the time there were a billion new Macross and Mospeada toys, I couldn't keep up with those let alone get Votoms toys. These days it's a different story. I think I'm about to list a whole bunch of Macross and maybe even Mospeada toys for sale to make room for some new toy lines.

Tigra is adopted from what I could tell... hence not in line for the crown. It'd be nice if we get some info on why the royal family adopted a son.

Not really a space opera but if you haven't seen VOTOMs that's a good old school anime with space travel and mecha. "Space opera" is a tough genre.

i'm still interested in buying a box, even if they're open, will send you a pm. Sadly I have no chinese connections.

i'll check out that video when i'm back at home. I'm hoping to get a first edition dog to compare it to the later toys. Darrin, why do you recommend the one fyana over another? I thought the only difference was her outfit color? I might put votoms on anymoon someday but it wouldn't be until all my macross and robotech posts get updated... So maybe next year.

Bandai DX Chogokin YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie
jenius replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
While those are good ideas they only really work if the one toy I own happens to manifest the flaws that others are complaining about. Since I handle my toys infrequently and usually keep them in fighter mode I see a lot fewer problems than other people do. As such, I rely on word of mouth through sites like this one to give me the information so I can add a sentence or two on my website. I can't really add pictures or a Youtube video since its someone else's toy that has the problem. -
Thanks Darrin. I'm watching eBay so I'll probably put a lowball bid in. I've also asked a friend in Japan to help me find a Brutish Dog + Fyana figure. I recently purchased the following: 1) V1 Scopedog (but I'm afraid I have to return it because it doesn't have the gun) 2) Chirico Cuvie figure 3) Scopedog + Roundmover 4) Scopedog Weapon set 1 I'm now hoping to find: 1) V1 Scopedog 2) Brutishdog with Fyana 3) Roots of Ambition Scopedog OR Battle Udon Scopedog I'm also looking to make some DMZ purchases.

Bandai DX Chogokin YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie

Can the legs be removed by undoing the screws? I'm out of town so I can't look at mine right now. Do you think you can expose the ball and then use Saran wrap or a piece of clear tape to fix the joint without doing anything permanent? -

I imagine mine is still tight because it spends its time in fighter mode. That's why I'm trying to figure out how difficult it is to fix the looseness issues.
