  1. That's pretty shameful product placement
  2. My next VOTOMS review is up! Check it out on anymoon Teaser pic... guess that toy!
  3. I hear Mospeada has been replaying on some Japanese television channels and has ticked up the value of some Mospeada items in Japan. I can't validate that but that's what I was told. Maybe some momentum will build for more Mospeada stuff?
  4. If yamato stops making vf1 toys or accessories or reissues the only explanation would be a new version of the vf1 is in the works... I think we have a couple years... just my guess.
  5. Who says they won't be selling more in the future? As long as the line is alive there's a chance.
  6. None of his sounds remotely Prometheus related. This discussion should be in the top gun 2 thread.
  7. That's not a complete list.... we need a funny Chinese vf1 also.
  8. Oooh i know i know!
  9. A friend of mine in Japan who was ordering one for himself ordered a second one for me.
  10. How about a pitot tube that doesn't come off but simply rotates out of the way? I was always scared I was going to lose that thing.
  11. For those of you trying to correspond with Japan right now, it's Obon so lots of people are out of office.
  12. Finally got a review up on anymoon.com. I wasn't quite as blown away with it as some others were. Overall, pretty decent toy but after the VF-19 toys I must have been expecting too much. Here's a sample pic:
  13. It's the price of TWO Bandai Frontier valks (or one off of eBay).
  14. I have some comments about the weathering versions mixed in with my review here: http://anymoon.com/blog/?p=2491
  15. I would be surprised if there's ill will but Kawamori's designs are Yamato's meal ticket so it's better to play it safe. The air Kawamori previously put on toward MacII was always one of ambivalence. There is HIS version of Macross with the shows he's worked on and within that there's even some ambiguity over what truly did happen and what is interpretation. MacII isn't part of HIS Macross so he just doesn't care about it one way or another, it might as well be some spin off Gundam show. Still, it's easy to have that attitude when MacII has nicely faded into obscurity. If Yamato and Bandai tried to dust it off and make money off it he might have more reason to take notice. Personally, I'm not a big fan of the MacII valks (although I might have liked the destroids, I remember there was definitely some designs I liked but it's been too long since I've seen it). I would rather have a Phalanx, regult, glaug, 1/48 V2 VF-1, 1/60 V2 YF-19, etc.
  16. I think you're putting too much "stink" into the story. From what I understand, Kawamori insisted he never saw MacII for a very long time after its release. He didn't return to Macross because MacII was ruining his legacy, he returned because A) he had a Top Gun-esque style story with transforming jets he wanted to make and the advertisers wanted him to shoehorn it into the Macross universe and B) because part of funding Mac Plus also included a stipulation that he would work on a more traditional sequel to the Macross television show (which later became Mac7). So, MacII gets made without Kawamori because he didn't want to revisit Macross, then Mac Plus gets made because no one will fund his new idea unless it's part of the Macross universe, and then Macross7 gets made because he's contractually obligated. It isn't until MacZero and MacFrontier that he's playing with Macross again for the sake of playing with Macross but again, there's no indication MacII sullied anything or inspired him.
  17. Yesasia cancelled the last two Bandia preorders, I wouldn't preorder from them again.
  18. Why not limited? You think there's a huge crowd dying to get the red version of the P? I'm shocked the P and the F themselves both aren't limited. Limited toys should be the ones with a very small fan base that would purchase them essentially allowing those fans to get an official product rather than having to make one themselves... this seems like EXACTLY the type of toy you would want limited as the other option is almost certainly "not at all." Then again, I'm sure all you really mean is "cheap" and with the exchange rate being what it is, we all want "cheap".
  19. They should do an event exclusivevall red version.
  20. Macross Mecha Manual color interpretations of the line art are just interpretations... they're not canon law. I think I can look past the yellow highlights and still really like this toy... the question is, can I afford another 19?
  21. "Numbers are low" should mean that demand is greater than supply. I did not say Yamato is missing the boat or has a poor business model. I said it's "Been a long time since yamato made a toy that would sell at the quantity of bandais dx renewal toys." I don't understand what you're discussing regarding the secondary market other than to say that the DX Renewals had demand greater than supply. To my point, when was the last time you saw this with a Yamato item? Since you haven't seen this in a long time, do you think this really shows Yamato is doing something right? Don't you think, if you were Yamato, you would love to see your products in such high demand in the secondary market? Yamatos are selling "well enough" as budgeted and modeled and that's good for them and good for those of us who buy their goods. They aren't running into Bandai's supply shortage because they aren't currently building a line of toys for a hot license. Yamato is getting market research that tells them the expected market for a new toy is between 1000 and 2000 units (hypothetically) while Bandai would be getting a range of between 5000 and 10000 units. Obviously it's going to be easier for Bandai to miss its mark... but from Bandai's perspective they probably not too broken up about how things have turned out. That said, I find it VERY unlikely I'll be able to find out the actual number of DX V2 toys that were produced... Bandai doesn't seem very open about these things. I could ask around about the Yamato toys but I'll tell you right now that they're very small production runs.
  22. Seriously, what yamato release do you think would even come close? The valks that cost twice as much for the 15 year old series?
  23. Been a long time since yamato made a toy that would sell at the quantity of bandais dx renewal toys.
  24. Darrin, maybe I missed it, where were those Shadow Beta pics taken? Comic-con? I'll bite the bullet and buy one when it's released but more out of curiosity's sake than anything.
