  1. Google Translate is tough to understand but it looks like it says Yamato was shuttered to avoid debt and it will take some time before Arcadia takes on any Yamato projects to make it clear that Arcadia is an unrelated company. I might just be reading a really rough translation that way since it's what I've been saying since it was considered a crazy conspiracy theory. I think the second blurb says 150 were convinced to leave TakaraTomy via early retirement type programs as the company wanted to downsize but the potential for layoffs still looms.
  2. It would seem incredibly unlikely as the new company would just buy the molds from the old and the players involved are the same players that decided to make things as is.
  3. The Macross7 license should be easy to get... Cheaper? Better distributed? Highly unlikely... If they could do those things they would have done them as Yamato.
  4. I've finally transformed my 171 enough where it's not so bad... Except those stupid wings. The 19 it's definitely more fun to transform but twatch out for sharp edges.
  5. These were sold by Yamato and released previously so I'm guessing HLJ and other vendors are now just being shipped the unsold stock.
  6. Correct. To my knowledge that's the only chunky that included them but I'm sure they've been recasted at some point.
  7. It was, once upon a time, the only 1/48s I have left are a VF-1S Focker and a Super VF-1J Hikaru. The pic was meant to help you with your gun strap dilemma.
  8. The piece that has popped off is the little triangle fin in fighter mode. It's below the big white piece in battroid mode and it simply reclines into the battroid cavity when the backpack is compressed. When you transform it back to fighter you just push it back through the whole in the trap door.
  9. Bandai included missiles with the strike valk that clipped on the wing.
  10. It's a fun commercial, I'm surprised they don't have the big "Professional driver on closed course" warning as I'm certain it wasn't really a prank.
  11. I think it might be silly to say "You need to stay the course!" to a company that just went bankrupt (allegedly).
  12. Used to be my pride and joy... Seems like this topic could get merged with the Mospeada thread though. -
  13. I think it's pretty interesting that Yamato was selling 1/60 VF-1 toys (version 1) at the same time Bandai was reissuing 1/55 VF-1 toys. One would think that those scales and the prices the toys were sold for were so similar that only one company would have been given the rights at a time. We saw the same thing again when Yamato released its GnU toys at the same time Kaiyodo did their Revoltechs. So, it might be one of those things where the companies are given the option to pay more for the rights to make them exclusive for a size and type. Maybe we'll see a scenario where Arcadia keeps reissuing Yamato's V2 VF-1 toys and then Bandai starts popping out 1/60 DX VF-1 toys. So, I guess nobody knows right now, but all hope is not lost. If you were hoping for a Mac+ or MacZero toy I think you should have plenty of hope as it's very unlikely there's going to be a struggle for the license. As I've stated before, I think it's time for the Macross universe to shrink to 1/72 scale. Toy manufacturing capabilities are so much better and the 1/100 Hi-Metal VF-1 is AWESOME and at 1/72 all the compromises like swap out landing gears/heat shield could be made integrated. Do it Arcadia.... shrink the universe and give us all new versions of everything Yamato made.
  14. Anybody notice that it's easy to get an MPC Rand VR-52T on eBay for $100 right now. Jeesh, that's a nice mark down... I thought I got a deal when I paid $150.
  15. No, a drawing of something doesn't mean anything really. The good news is, the license for doing say, dolls, is different from doing a transformable mecha toy. The rights to be able to produce certain SDF Macross stuff might be pretty easy to secure provided no one else has a taste for that market. For example, it's unlikely Bandai wants to make Macross dolls so Arcadia could probably snatch up the rights pretty quick. If Bandai wants to make a 1/60 VF-1 toy... well that might put Arcadia in a really tough spot if they were hoping to buy Yamato's V2 molds.
  16. Does anyone know how Luca's RVF-171EX Transforms? The thing that throws me off is the lower radar array. In fighter mode it's below the legs but in battroid mode it's behind the back. How does it swivel down below the legs? Would there have to be a space between the legs for the array to fit through? How would it hten swing around and protrude outward from the back? Are there a couple small arms involved?
  17. I believe Yamato is a private company so I wouldn't expect much of an announcement even if someone was around to make it.
  18. If both cost the same or the fire valk is cheaper go with the fire valk... But eventually get both because they're both awesome.
  19. Well, that's cool, YF-29 Focker, carry on.
  20. I think they would choose to exclude it since they chose to exclude Focker and it's an homage to his scheme that is already selling better than expected.
  21. 2008? I was way off (when I looked for it). Still, I was asked to post about that stuff so I don't see what the problem is. I also posted that Beagle was dead and some people are still waiting for an "official notice." I didn't post any specifics, I said "I heard a company is going to make a Mospeada announcement at Wonderfest." It's not like I threw up a company name or something. I was wrong, can anyone really be that upset by that? Edit - Okay, that's definitely enough back and forth on this. If people dont' want to hear me teasing information, please ignore me. Easy peasy.
  22. Hey you got in on the fun too! Although admittedly you got more style points for your delivery. C'mon people, no harm no foul. If you don't like being teased with news, just adopt a "I'll believe it when I see it" mentality. GOSU!!!!! By the way, I thought I didn't announce a Gosu was on the way but rather I polled people for interest. I'm not sure how helpful it was and I think the post got deleted a long time ago
  23. A little update to this, I threw in the towel and purchased an ATI card with HDMI 1.4 (eliminating the DVI to HDMI cable) and everything worked like a charm. I think this might have been a situation where some of the technology in the set-up was a little more capable then some of the older technology and for whatever reason this just made everything unable to get along. I built my computer a little over 2 years ago now and it has been overclocked since day 2. My overclock is pretty mild, from 3.07ish to 3.7ish. Over that whole time I've had a handful of instances where the computer failed to boot but a simple restart resolved that. I've had more luck overclocking my CPU than my GPU (lots of crashed games when I got too aggressive).
  24. That's a sentiment I can certainly appreciate but there's a difference in context, things just didn't quite work out right this time around. What happens with this sort of stuff is that people start talking before announcements get made. They say things like "Hey, we're hoping to make a Mospeada-related announcement soon" to try to get a little attention so there's an audience when they do make the announcement. The buzzing that was happening here was with the understanding that an announcement was forthcoming. Then the announcement didn't happen. It not happening is all the more reason why it was good no one just said "Hey, company X is going to make toy A." What's the status of the project now? I have no idea but what you've gained from all this chatter is that a company was, at the very least, very interested in making a Mospeada product.
  25. Want some cheese with that whine?
