buy a cheap 17S, replace your 17D part, install your fixed part on the 17S, then keep it in battroid mode.

I've used Rinkya. Pretty reliable and a good process but it ain't cheap. Basically, I've found you only want to use these services for: 1) Large lot auctions. If you can break up the excess you're going to have to pay over a lot of toys, it's easier to stomach 2) Large ticket items. What's another 15% when you're already paying $500 right? RIGHT? If you're buying things that are only $100 the mark-up is more like 45%... YIKES 3) Impossible to find items Also, if you're using these services, get used to failing. You're bidding against people who aren't facing an extra $100 in fees so you'll find yourself getting outbid a lot (and those people will still pay way less than you were willing to pay between the auction and the fees).

My Yamato dogs are in storage right now I'm afraid so I can't stay much for specifics other than the legs on the TCs are totally different.

Mine is a version 2 with metallic shoulder so maybe not much can be gleaned from the shoulder paint.

I think that's backward, I believe metallic is true V2, the original red shoulder releases had a normal red shoulder.

No, there was not a 'renewal' of the EX171, there has been only one iteration.

I don't know that I disagree with the VF-19 as the best Macross toy ever. I haven't really had to choose one over the rest but that one would certainly be a strong candidate. I'm a huge fan of the renewal VF-25 and YF-29 toys, as well as Yamato 1/3000 SDF-1 (although there's not a whole lot going on with that toy). I'll have to give this some more thought before I post my update in a couple days.

Wow, best Macross toy ever made? That's some praise! If GERWALK mode weren't so "meh" I think that'd be an easy claim. Might still be true though but it certainly didn't run away with the title.

The 25G is readily available for only a slight premium so if it gets reissued I'm guessing it won't be for another year.

Real fans should be able to buy an army of these things... after all, they're real fans and they're supporting the franchise with their purchases just as much as anyone else. As I posted earlier, this is all part of the natural cycle we live in now. Bandai releases something, some people luck out, others don't, and the ones that don't are miserable... right up until they eventually get the toy because it seems like just about everyone who wants one is inevitably able to get one. No need for angst-ridden grousing.

The cycle of these releases is getting very deja vu-y. 1) Release available... GO GO GO! 2) I got one! 3) I didn't. FU Banda! I'm never buying your toys again! 4) Bandai hates Macross, they only love Gundam! 5) You guys realize these toys are available in Japan after release in stores right? A guy once posted a picture of toys in a toy store that proved it. 6) So Bandai hates just the international vendors? F YOU BANDAI! 7) A week after release, everyone who wants one gets it by hook or by crook, usually at a modest mark-up but still no where near Yamato MSRPs Two months later no one can get one and the clamoring for the reissue begins anew.

D'oh, I got busy doing work and forgot to go absolutely insane at exactly midnight. Guess I'll have to get lucky down the road. Edit - Wait, what am I saying? I got so wrapped up in everyone wanting one that I forgot I already own it! Good luck on your hunt guys.

If you're not a stickler for a MIB DMZ Scopedog I can sell you the one in my review. The hands both have cracks but still go on the toy and it makes a fine display piece. See my review on anymoon and shoot me a PM.

I would guess that's the same "OMG Yamato doesn't exist this will never get reissued!" phenomenon we're seeing here. There's some panic buying shooting prices up.
