  1. It seemed like Alto sold a little better but it's hard to judge because we don't know the production runs of either the original issue or the reissue.
  2. Have you watched my video: Usually it's because you don't have the legs straight enough.
  3. You know, if that pivot gimmick on the upper legs was right below the intakes it would probably work out pretty well and not look nearly as goofy. I would put absolutely no stock in any rumor that Bandai ignored Kawamori. That sounds like fanboy rage.
  4. There was one in the box on eBay France not too long ago... I think it went for 2kish.
  5. If this is a precursor to a DX toy, I hope they make it so it pivots at the hips instead of underneath them... that looks kinda janky to me. I love the ankle flap, the inability to camber the feet has always been a big issue with achieving dynamic poses.
  6. This doesn't seem like a question specific to Rinkya. This is a question specific to the customs of your country. If you live in the US I don't think there's any reason to declare anything other than the actual value since you won't be hit with a customs charge.
  7. I have finally reached the point in handling my 171 toys where my hands instinctively go to the right places and it is a much less frustrating experience... and I'm enjoying these guys a whole lot more. If it weren't for those stupid wings I'd be getting warm and fuzzy about this one.
  8. That's neat enough, thanks Lobizon.
  9. I wish that picture would load for me.
  10. From what I understand, Kawamori could care less. In fact, he'd probably prefer people get the Yamato offering since he worked with Yamato than something Toynami produced on its own. It's BigWest that would flip a lid. Since BigWest is the company that decides who does and doesn't make Macross toys it's in everyone's interest to keep them happy. The only way Toynami could have sold V2 Yamatos is if they had purchased the molds from Yamato upon their bankruptcy (which clearly did not happen).
  11. The problem with the black credit card valk was that it was a VF-1J and Yamato then released the same thing with gray details and called it "stealth." I remember shortly there after seeing "credit card" valks for sale... it seemed people might have been stripping the paint off their Stealth valks and claiming they were the credit card valks.
  12. I heard that the 1/48 line died because a V2 1/48 toy would have been prohibitively expensive. I don't think you'll see anyone take it up again.
  13. That was the point. There's a lot of differences between models and toys but the primary differences tend to be that you have to assemble and paint a model but not a toy. So, if Arcadia got the license from BigWest to make 1/60 transformable 'models' they might theoretically be able to just keep selling the V2 kits (not the completed painted toys) as models. Since Hasegawa doesn't make 1/60 transformable models they wouldn't see this as a competitor and that's how you might get something like this joint venture. Again, just more idle speculation. It's possible that Arcadia did manage to snag the license to make 1/60 toys and after the 30th anniversary scheme we'll see reissues.
  14. But Hasegawa doesn't make transforming models in 1/60 scale that are essentially toys. If Hasegawa didn't view Yamato as competition when Yamato started making their "kits" I doubt they would now.
  15. Why would they make a toy sooooooooooo huge?
  16. At first I just assumed this would be Hasegawa quality markings to go on a Yamato 1/60 VF-1 kit but it mentions gimmicks. I wonder if Arcadia was able to go a different route and get the license to do 1/60 VF-1 'models' instead of toys? That'd be a neat twist. Then they would just start selling the unassembled VF-1 kits with Hasegawa quality slide on decals or something.
  17. Alright, the 1/48 VF-1 post has been updated to reflect that those pictures were from Save. Sorry it wasn't there before.
  18. Ha, I was going to post that same pic when I got home. I think Save gets the credit.
  19. I don't think a copyright means much of any thing... It may be just that garish scheme.
  20. Just because Arcadia allegedly* hadn't gotten licenses yet doesn't mean they should be counted out. Maybe it just takes several months to get them or maybe a formal liquidation of Yamato needs to happen first. Plus, sometimes what I hear is already dated. I know my predictions sound negative but I hope they get the rights to some series. I have no idea what's going on with this model thing but the lack of any other vf1 news has my expectations very low. If Arcadia can make v2s they're choosing a sorry way to start.
  21. I think I confuse people because I'm vocal with what I'd like to see happen which often times has nothing to do with what's actually happening. The only thing I've heard about Arcadia was that a toy Yamato was working on probably wasn't going to happen.
  22. I look forward to hearing some details. I've heard some interesting rumors lately.
  23. Isn't the 1/60 line becoming prohibitively expensive exactly what we witnessed? I think people are just clamoring for the incumbent because it's the incumbent. If we were talking about the Robotech universe than 1/32 is probably the best scale. If Robotech ever does get re-imagined I hope the scale of the vehicles gets addressed to make them more uniform so it too can have toys made in similar scales throughout the entire show. 1/60 is pretty much too small for Southern Cross or Mospeada, 1/72 is way out of the question, and anything larger than 1/60 doesn't really work for the original Macross series.
  24. Let's say the next toy was a 1/72 V2 YF-19 was significantly improved over the V1 but maybe didn't go completely nuts and include things like a slide out forearm gun and cost 14,000 Yen to compete more closely with Bandai's DX toys (as opposed to the 20,000+ a 1/60V2 would certainly go for). I'm pretty sure that if the 1/72 looked better in all modes than the 1/60V1 and had better articulation people would still line up to buy it. I don't think everyone would start saying "yeah, it's better, but it doesn't fit with the universe inside my other boxes of toys in the closet." I think the drive to own the best rendition would outweigh the marriage to a scale none of us cared about a decade ago. The next toy could easily be a VF-0 where Arcadia could pull off an improved toy in a smaller scale with little difficulty. Now people would own two 1/72 toys (and maybe some variants) and the ball would be officially rolling. Then they release some 1/72 models of Zentraedi weapons and we're off to the races... now the 1/72 universe might eventually be MORE broad than the 1/60 one was. This is all hypothetical and almost certainly not going to happen so it's not worth arguing over. Collecting is never about getting to the end of collecting though.
  25. But your argument is that you don't want to buy everything again... and the plan was for new versions of the same things you already owned so regardless if you do or don't own the examples, you're still in the same spot.
