Awesome to hear they have the SDF-1 mold. I'm shocked there aren't a whole bunch being listed on eBay right now by people who know they'll be able to pick up a reissue later and make a quick buck now. I'd be pretty surprised if we see a VF-17 again, seemed like that one was just as much a dud as the VF-11 toys. It seems like a VF-0 renewal is the next NEW mold we'll get. In the meantime it sounds like we can expect lots of reissues which is cool by me. I do think it's funny the official stance is that they won't go nuts with reissuing offbeat paint schemes but they were happy to give us that 30th anniversary paint scheme.

Primarily it's because I don't have any toys left with broken shoulders so I haven't had a need for those particular accessories and generally the site is stuff I've used and fiddled with. Besides, Veef has access to collectiondx which has orders of magnitude more traffic than anymoon. I don't own anymoon.com so I set it up this way in case I got kicked off. Fortunately, the site now generates almost exactly as much revenue as it costs to host so it's unlikely I'll be forced to move it. I think it's just because my video reviews are boring! That is why I make the transformation videos separate... I'm afraid I'd put everyone to sleep otherwise.

You missed it? It was completed in convincing fashion.

Yeah but MrK is still an Arcadia team member that would want people to buy the toy so it still makes sense to say you're sorry for not being into it.

Hey everyone, my review is up on anymoon and a video is on Youtube. Check 'em out!

Does the Megatron masterpiece reissue mean we should all lose hope of a Megatron 2.0? Also did Megatron get the KO treatment? I've noticed a very steady stream of Megatrons from China on eBay. Finally, I also noticed that there are KOs of the masterpiece tapes circulating just as a heads-up.- 17082 replies

I figured it out, it was the 'other' section of the criteria, at some point I accidentally changed it to: just threads I follow.

I think it must be with my settings. This is happening on my phone, PC, and tablet.

I'm having a bizarre issue lately. When I hit the "view new content" I always just get a message telling me there is no new content. What did I break and how do I fix it? Even if I click "show me everything from the last week" I still get a 'no new content' error.

They could do any G1 and I'd be thrilled. Galvatron and Megatron 2.0 are highest on my wish list for Decepticons. Then any of the combiners would be cool.- 17082 replies

Cool, mystery solved! I wonder if this perfect matching was special for the 30th or if the 1S toys will be the same. I like my funky 30th a lot though the priest collar is the worst I've ever seen.

I handled mine some more and I still can't say if the parts that used to clearly be painted metal are now molded POM or metal that has been painted with a way better technique that now makes it identical to all the molded plastic parts. I mean, that seems far-fetched, but it's really that hard to tell. Has anyone tried scratching the parts to see what's underneath?

I'd be curious to see if they just wanted to put a price hike on the backend or if they just under charged originally or some combo of the two. Doubt we'll ever know.- 17082 replies

No you're right, stand and coin are very light and small and that increase is large. Shady though? It's not underhanded when it's on the screen, it's not like you paid and now they want 15 more dollars before they ship.- 17082 replies

Doesn't sound shady at all, the original price was a guess that they honored, now they've updated it to be the actual price after having shipped a bunch out.- 17082 replies

Sorry Gakken, that still sounds like a tiny shop with sour grapes more than economic reality there... regardless of the comparative market size of TF vs Macross. In order for the theory that BBTS can set a price with a guess at preorder prices ignores that there would need to be an oligopoly and that Takara could care less what international vendors think a toy should sell for. It ain't happening. Good news... just don't preorder until closer to release date and by then actual information will be flowing. EDIT - We can actually get to the bottom of this. Lunar priced almost identical to everyone else. Ask him if that's because he did a huge mark-up to match everyone or if that's because that's what the fair price actually was. If that's what the fair price actually was then we know the early preorder companies didn't mess anything up.- 17082 replies

Isn't 18000 only the same as being on sale for 10% off? That doesn't seem that steep but I guess compared to the feeding frenzy we saw on some other toys it's pretty surprising. That said, I was likewise underwhelmed, the renewal VF-25 toys had raised the bar pretty high.

If someone put up preorders at $400 for an Arcadia YF-19 before the price was announced Arcadia wouldn't use that information for anything... because they don't have any idea how many preorders are selling. They're not going to say "Hey, a few stores think we're going to charge this... so we should!" It works the other way around. Big retailers hear from industry sources pieces of information that they can then use to estimate a price. They'll hear something like "Price isn't final yet but expect it to be higher than Y because few units are being produced." BBTS basically said that with their announcement today. So retailers will get screwed occasionally, especially if they jump out as far ahead as BBTS is, but the other side of that equation is that BBTS may have a very reliable source. We've seen BBTS be wrong a few times so we know they're not setting any prices or dictating production numbers... especially for a company like Takara which I'm sure care 1000x more about domestic stores.- 17082 replies

While I understand there have been instances where big toy stores have guessed the price of an upcoming release wrong, the idea that the manufacturer uses preorders based on guessed pricing to determine final pricing is extremely far fetched. Again, the manufacturer is the only one in that instance who assumes risk so they wouldn't do it. Now, is it possible they've gotten savvy and increased their profit margins because they see that people are willing to pay more? Sure. It's also possible that they've got a lot going on so they've reduced their production runs so they've likewise increased their margin per unit. I think it's far more likely that the bigger toy stores hear more information than the little toy stores so they have a better idea of what the price will be.- 17082 replies
