If they do Macross the First VF-1 toys they might also do a Macross the First SDF-1.

Tightening the wing rotation point is very easily done with clear tape, and easily removed if you wanted to.

But the Chinese team of triplets is said to be a terrific benefit that lets their Jaeger have an extra arm... it's not like they made it seem like three asians were needed to have the same level as the Americans. In fact, the Chinese were standing after the American Jaeger got beat down and retired. If we argue against nukes being the answer, would "reaction" weapons have been okay? Essentially a weapon that used something science fiction to cause an explosion big enough to kill a giant monster instead of something actually referred to as a "nuke". Are we arguing that the answer should have been diplomacy?

I really dig what was done recently with the Bandai YF-29 Isamu. Why not a VF-1 Isamu, a VF-1 Guld, a VF-1 Ozma, a VF-1 Brera, and a VF-1 Basara?
-
I find that funny because that was like the worse shelf warmer of all valks.

This thread needs pics

Drawings vary a lot any way, I wouldn't get too hung up on minor line art variances.

If I could collect more toys, these would definitely be on the list.

Skull are you jutting the crotch forward on that bad boy? Looks a little flat.

I believe it's bi-annual but can't swear to it. I feel like last year it was two months after Winter Wonderfest that some Bandai news broke. Even then, it wasn't everything... more news just popped out as advertisements on the Tamashii site. There was nothing, as I recall, revealed at Winter Wonderfest.

Ah the dream of 1/72 scale. I think you and I Vifam are in a definite minority. 1/72 is such a natural fit for the Macross universe. Unfortunately much of what I've dreamed of for a V3 would likely be impossible in a smaller scale (it was probably asking a lot for a 1/60). At 1/72 we'd probably just get a small version of the V2 and then what's the point? Besides, I think Bandai's Hi-Metal 1/100 line proved that size does matter for Macross purchasers. I don't think they want a VF-1 less than 1/60 because anything smaller is 'fiddily' and 'feels cheap' even if its a damn fine toy.

No, I thought Bandai ignores WF (except for maybe some figures). If they're going to wait for a show it will be the next Tamashii Nations event.

While I like the concepts Zinjo is referring to, I can't help but feel they were handled horribly in Macross Frontier, particularly Frontier's movie-verse. It's like "We'll throw bits of these concepts into the plot, we won't flesh them out, they won't fit, but we have concert scenes to focus on!" I really wish the movies had gone more the DYRL route. Start us off with a Sheryl concert on Galaxy, not Frontier. Have Alto already be in the SMS. Then have SMS arrive at Galaxy after a distress signal and save some of the frigates, including Sheryl and Grace. Then you'd have a reason to have lots of Galaxy people on board Frontier for a later coup. Then don't have the coup fail, have it succeed but have SMS pull things off in the end. It seems like things could have been condensed more but the story actually improved upon fairly easily.

I just opened my Isamu 29, I'll echo the sentiments of all those that said they received one that was clearly a little mistransformed. I had to transform mine almost completely to GERWALK and then back to fighter to get everything properly seated. Looked great after I did that but that was all the time I had today to handle it . I'll be doing a video review once my voice returns...

I agree that if Bandai did a DX VF-1 they would never do it like Yamato did. They would give us a few releases and move on. For a company like Bandai it takes a lot more for them to prioritize a release over other things in the pipeline. Yamato didn't really have that problem. For them repaints were how the factory was kept busy. For that reason, I do hope Arcadia gives us a V3 some day rather than a DX. If it takes a DX to see the next evolution of VF-1 toys then I'm all for that. I think a lot of people are saying "I'm pretty happy with my V2, I wouldn't go nuts for a V3" but I suspect that tune would change unless the only thing they really cared about was fighter mode. As to a VF-2J/SS, the people who would go nuts for it is a tiny percentage of the people who would purchase yet another VF-1, even if that VF-1 weren't done particularly well. If anyone is going to do anything beyond gashapon with Mac II it's going to have to be Arcadia because it's going to be an incredibly expensive toy with incredibly limited sales numbers.

$50 still seems really near not knock-off MSRP but I might be willing to take the plunge if I see one.- 17074 replies

Remember when IE let you quote fellow forum members? I need to switch to Chrome. In the meantime, for the person who said $450, I bet you're closer than the $250 figure was. Back in the day someone at Yamato allegedly stated a 1/48 V2 was not going to happen because the costs associated would be prohibitive.

I think it's high time we get the cone heads! I'm hoping these knock off Grimlocks and loose Grimlocks will allow me to get a first release Takara and Hasbro fairly cheap.- 17074 replies

While there certainly is some very glossy and new VF-19Kai line art, the VF-19Kai was always portrayed as being a glossy bird. I'd venture that all valks are glossy in the anime with the possible exception of the VF-17 and the cannon fodders. High visibility = high gloss. Yes, I love me some gloss and I'm sure you're all sick of it. On V3 VF-1, here's what they need to do: 1) Anime accurate transformation with arms that move the hips to the proper position 2) Have the nose cone open and balls swing out for the hips to attach to (don't be lewd) 3) Have the arms that moved the legs then pivot and become side covers 4) Incorporate a twist point just below the cockpit for a waist 5) Somehow figure out how to get the toy to also be able to jut the nosecone forward at that twist point 6) Figure out a way to have the toy chest be able to move forward (think an upper back joint). 7) Figure out a way to increase left/right angle articulation for the feet Integrate the intake covers 9) Eliminate the folding fins on the legs and instead have the fins retract like they do in the anime 10) Retracting gun strap for GU-11 (in 1/60? Okay, probably not). Easy peasy.

I will echo the 'pass' vote of everyone else. The Zero license will go to Arcadia by default (no one else wants it) so if Arcadia is going to keep churning out Macross releases I expect a renewal of the VF-0 toys.... maybe this time with reactive armor in mind and an easy way of adapting for a VF-0D toy.

One will eventually show up on these boards for sale... I'm sure of it. And when it does, hopefully it will be during a slower preorder period for you.

Robotech x Voltron crossover... what the...I don't even...

I just listened to that Podcast and it was awesome. I haven't heard anyone discuss HG like that (and I don't go looking for discussion on it). I loved the Kevin McKeever conversation. He was the guy who booted me from robotech.com shortly after linking to my site because I accurately reported what Tommy Yune said at SDCC and he wanted to spin it a different way. Never bothered trying to post on RT.com again... pretty sure my site gets more traffic than rt.com anyway... -
Very nice work. My only critique is that the three way transformation seems unlikely and at the very least the 'tank' type aspects of a destroid would necessarily give way to very small bits if transformable which makes the very concept contradictory. The destroid form is a compromise to represent everything a mech would need if not transformable... if it could transform then its very like the battroid form would not be similar to the destroids we know.
