I assure you, Arcadia will not determine price based on an MW thread. They will leave that to the accountants who will likely use sales of the first 0 toys to come up with an equation based on the price of the new molding and the assumed number of variants and probable demand reduction as the price curve increases to find a sweet spot.

Did not see that coming. I would have thought they'd go with N then for Nippon. Also, if the J is made in Japan then wouldn't it stand to reason they're all made in Japan?

This may have been asked and answered already so I apologize if it has, but why did SDF Macross feature the A, J, and S variants most prominently while in follow up shows the 'J' type has been replaced by an 'F' type? Does this mirror real world designations?

I don't think that's the most accurate interpretation. While Arcadia existed prior to Yamato's demise, it was hardly an old established toy company. While this is speculation, it seems like it was a pet project of a Yamato executive who saw the writing on the wall. When Yamato then folded he bought the Yamato molds and hired the employees he liked/could afford. Arcadia had what, like two items (naked girl statues) in its name before Yamato folded?

This should bode well for YF-30 mold milking also right?
-
You guys know the vf1 goes for 170 now right? A 0d will not be less than 250.
-
I really hope that's an announcement. They have the Macross30 license so it'd make sense.

I kind of liked the darker tint. I think the photos made it look darker than it was and people would have liked it in hand (like with the bandai renewal valks)

The 1/48 was released in 2002 but in production for several years after. Arcadia did not buy the 1/48 mold s, the line is officially dead.

4 paint schemes and a new mold is disappointing?

I did not think the visor was a different color when looking at them under my lights.

Man, reading reviews of these toys was rough. So many people expected a $15 1/100 toy to not need any part swapping like landing gears or a heat shield. It almost seemed like Toynami would have been better off just including the display stand and not even making the mechanisms in the legs to have landing gears. Of course, having the joints break, including the display stand connector, didn't help. The poor tolerances with the pegs that held fighter mode together were another big 'oops'. Hindsight being 20/20, if they wanted to do 2 seaters eventually they should have just made the canopies a smoke gray you couldn't really see through (or the prototype blue) and not bothered with a cockpit at all. For $15 I could live without a cockpit that didn't look very good or have a pilot. I think the moral here is that if you're going to go cheap, focus on the toy and make it solid and don't worry about any frills.

Is it a V2 or V1? The V1s definitely yellowed badly.

Got a phone call from a friend the other day asking me to stop by. When I got there he had a new arcade in his game room... Splatterhouse. Good times.

I think Arcadia should make a toy dropping all internals but leaving the door open for a later "internals" set (that maybe even another company like T-Rex could fulfill. The Regult toy without the internals would be much less top heavy and would make a better toy and it should be so simple that the price wouldn't need to be astronomical.

As others have noted, this will almost certainly be a shelf-warmer if not made specifically to order or in a tiny quantity. An exclusive is a good way for the toy you (and very few others) want but doesn't have sufficient size to warrant a widespread release. I know we all love buying valks at 60% off but that generally tells you that the company probably should have made less of the product. I think this was shown previously as a reason for people to buy the VF-1A assembly kit.

Glad you enjoyed it and I appreciate the info. I'm sure I butcher some other terms as well.

I don't think it matters, their next announcement is a couple weeks away.

Finally got my Arcadia review up. Sorry i'm a little monotone, still recovering from that cold. Starts a little slow too as there's a lot of history now. I think it's done in the highest resolution I've used yet so check it out on HD by going to my Youtube page.

Maybe the Futurama license is doing well for them.

100% agree. I was thinking about this the other night. I bet they're going to announce Super Parts at Wonder Festival but the super parts will come with armors to make them standard color, blue, or red. They'll also announce stand alone (no super part included) versions of Max & Miriya VF-1J.. That's my guess.

Alaska base? Uh... someone is too much of a diehard for completing the universe. The Alaska Base should be like an event exclusive or something.

I've been thoroughly vetting mine. Should have a video review up in the next few days. I never really did a decent V2 VF-1 review so it's going to be exceedingly thorough.

The Transformers Thread (licensed) Next

I hope you can recess the mirrors into the legs. They should make an aftermarket screw cover for inside the driver's compartment that includes a tiny hula dancer on top of it.- 17082 replies
