  1. Sigh... what am I gonna sell to make room for this?
  2. One would assume since it's shown in both modes. Given the price of the WAVE kit I'm not suffering from too much sticker shock. Sign me up for one.
  3. I thought we were getting 4 VF-1 repaints. I'm bummed.
  4. Does it come with a little diorama of the SDF-1 sitting in a lake with the city around it?
  5. Yeah, my friend and his girlfriend are visiting from Japan and neither one knew what Macross was. "Like Gundam?" Soooo yeah, Robotech and Macross are definitely niche products. Still, if I'm HG I'd have a huge erection over the thought of this being an official Robotech product in the states. "Look, through no effort of our own, the license still makes us money!"
  6. All of those are low demand valks.
  7. I would stop short of saying "a breeze" on the 171 but after like my 10th transformation I did start to get a hang of it. The 17 can be alright to transform but it can be incredibly hard the first couple times through because of how crazy stiff some parts are. I like both toys. If the 171 didn't have the stupid wings I'd like it more than the 17 but I think that's largely because the 171 is a better vehicle.
  8. HG owns the international merchandising rights to Macross. If Lego makes this and doesn't license it as a Robotech product it will only be available for sale in Japan.
  9. They must be made of transparent plastics!
  10. Man, this is kind of embarrassing. I loved Gargoyles but that means I was 15 when it started airing... seems like I should have been doing something more than watching Gargoyles after school.
  11. Fairly certain you can make one of those yourself for a couple bucks if you wanted to.
  12. I still can't believe a Robotech fan project was shut down due to licensing issues. WHEN WILL SOMEONE INVENT A SARCASTIC PUNCTUATION MARK??!?!? Dear talented people, Robotech is a licensing death trap. Rather than waste energy on it, create something new. Robotech is dying anyway, your next project could be the thing the next generation fixates over.
  13. Could it be the version of the Takatoku Henkei VF-1 release that was made as part of the Convertors line that included super parts? I don't have a picture handy... maybe I can find one.... Check out this link: http://anymoon.com/blog/?p=1535 It looks the regular releases also had the backpack up at all times.
  14. Where are the knock-off Grimlocks? I see all the loose ones but I was led to believe those weren't knock-offs. Gakken, you've told us the Grimlock mold was dust three releases ago! I think it might be holding up better than you expect.
  15. I don't know about crap but they were very poorly executed. Going against the Revoltech line they should have known how high the articulation bar was going to be set but they floundered. The later release of super parts with upgrades to the base toy's articulation was definitely a head scratcher. I get milking ever dollar out of the 1/60 toys but trying to stick people for extras for the action figure sized toys? Bad show. They should have spent more time with the prototypes, upgraded the articulation before release, and then given us the tiny super parts right off the bat (Kaiyodo did). Kaiyodo also gave us a display stand and special effects. I think what it really came down to though was that Kaiyodo was producing MacPlus toys for the Revoltech line so Yamato should have just known better than to try to compete in a market that probably isn't crazy robust in the first place. Someone referenced the Votoms toys earlier. I'm a big Votoms fan but I agree, that was definitely another misstep. Again, Yamato took up a license that didn't have a robust market but did have a big fish (TakaraTomy) already in the pond. Like the GNU, Yamato tried to be the premium player niche in an already niche market and didn't bring a dominant enough product. They really needed to invest in painting on some details on the exteriors of those toys. The arms and hands were also poorly designed and implemented. It was definitely a more premium product than the DMZ toys but not enough to warrant the huge mark-up and the DMZs popped more with much better paint. Another random thought, they really should have released a "Purple Bear Conversion Kit" to sell more Meliqua colored dogs and a "Marshy Dog Conversion Kit" to sell more of the standard or red shoulder dogs. I'm guessing they didn't because they figured they might make stand alone versions of those ATs one day but instead they just let those dogs become shelf-warmers.
  16. For those of you wondering "Why MacrossZero?" the answer is probably "cheap license" and nothing more exciting than that. Plus, the original Zero line probably sold decently enough.
  17. So Mommar, I assume you don't own a single DX release? Avoiding toys with potentially loose joints is actually a brilliant way to keep spending in this hobby in check since I can only think of a few releases where that hasn't been a complaint.
  18. 99% of loose joints can be easily tightened up, often by something as simple as putting a piece of clear tape in a socket.
  19. Seems like max, miria, and hikaru are most likely. Hopefully its concurrent with super parts and gbp releases.
  20. I'm curious what Yamato's biggest misstep was. Was it the GnuDou line? The VFC line? The destroids? We'll never know.
  21. My review is finally up! Check out anymoon or click the link in my sig. It's in HD so make sure you watch it that way if you can! Also lots of good pics as always on anymoon.
  22. Wonder Festival is coming. Last year there wasn't much but I'm hoping we'll see something new for Mospeada... although if it's an Inbit it will probably be laughable compared to the Cap'n's work.
  23. Guys, Bandai had the Frontier license but that doesn't mean Arcadia can't get permission from Bandai. Also, WF has one day licenses.
  24. The "it would stand to reason they would all be built in Japan" because the J isn't significantly different from the S or the A. Why would you build the J in Japan but build the S in say... Russia? If you're already building a Valkyrie in Japan then wouldn't you build the very minor variants of that valkyrie there also? Maybe in the Macross universe though there were factories in Alaska (big factory) and Japan (smaller factory) and Alaska built the As and Japan built the Js and a few S/D/others could have been built at either.
