  1. Yeah but they coughed up the Lambo license. Hmm... Porsche probably isn't far behind...
  2. So is Toynami going to be selling a Robotech item at SDCC?
  3. Yes, the T-Rex VF-1 option parts began their lives as WF exclusives IIRC. The problem with this, as others have pointed out, is that Arcadia won't be picking these up because Arcadia won't be getting the Frontier license. Bandai also won't pick this up because they go to an Arcadia toy. So, this looks to be a WF only item. Doesn't mean it won't show up at lots of WFs though.
  4. Aren't WF licenses for like 20 items or less? I don't think a group buy is likely.
  5. I'd be down for a retelling of space war 1 as well but I would worry that a different perspective on those events would be really tricky for an entire series. It seems like too much of the war's progression is dependent on the actions of the protagonists from the first series. I would also wonder if a move like that would tweak all our timelines as we know them. Would the ASS-1 crash in 2020?
  6. I think it looks WAY better than the standard release.
  7. Here's the quote from my review, when I review this new version I'll have lots of measurements and math to satisfy future curiosity.
  8. Were the kids faces blurred out when that originally aired? It makes it kind of creepy. I also like the early Megatron.
  9. Here's the art from the first special version... I'm pretty sure there's just one special version. I think there's also only one "normal" release and it has eyes.
  10. Sorry, was going off memory, devil Sheryl makes more sense.
  11. When going Bandai DX you want to start with a 'renewal' version VF-25 or any of the YF-29 toys. Check out anymoon.com (my review site) and surf around. For each toy you pick I generally list all the releases, release dates, and MSRP.
  12. You got it right LSB. The one with the character art (devil Ranka) also had a display stand and fancy box and cost more. Both are pretty hard to come by at the moment, maybe this third release will help stock resurface of the plain version.
  13. 1) That toy looks really good 2) I wouldn't buy that rumor
  14. You're taking my argument beyond where it went. I said 3P COMPETING with 1P seems uncouth. I still think 3P has value, particularly where 1P is ignoring something people want. The thing against 'scalpers' is just an interesting study in where people are willing to draw their line in the sand. At the end of the day, you've spent $X and have Y. I imagine all of us on the board have made a profit on a toy at some point. Anyway, water under the bridge, MP Galvatron is probably at the top of my list at this point. I'd say MP Megatron V2 but I just don't think there's any way it will happen. I will definitely by SpaceBrick because bot mode looks pretty cool. I suspect I won't keep him forever though since I won't have a sentimental connection.
  15. I'm not bulky, I'm just very pale!
  16. I think the 3rd party discussion got silly when people brought up principle of not paying secondary vendors when buying unlicensed products. It's illogical Jim. Any good sdcc exclusives to look out for besides the arch?
  17. Cool, got one
  18. Yeah, this thing looks like it will be a fighter or gerwalk display piece.
  19. You're adding the caveat "at retail" which I intentionally excluded because the pricing dynamics are screwy. True, it's hard to find the newest MP Grimlock at a TRU where you could potentially use a 20% coupon and get him for like $60... but how much does a 3P Grimlock cost? So if you had to pay DOUBLE that to get a 3P Grimlock but could easily find him just as easily as you can find a Hasbro Grimmy online that someone snatched at TRU and then put online for 2x MSRP then you're right back to my equal statement.
  20. It seems disingenuous to say "may or may not represent" when the 3rd party releases I'm thinking of all certainly go out of their way to do the best they can to represent the figure we all know and that's how they generate their sales. I also find it a little odd to complain about distribution given that legit releases have a chance at being at a local TRU, target, CVS, or Walmart whereas 3rd party releases almost certainly require some sort of online purchase. Is it harder to purchase legitimate releases then third party releases? No, NEVER. The worst case is that a third party release is EQUALLY hard to obtain as a third party release. 3rd party stuff is definitely a step above bootlegs though and more options is cool but not for me and definitely not for me when it's competing with the legitimate rights holder. Imagine having the rights to something and have somebody undercut you... you'd be pissed even if the person who undercut you put out junk.
  21. I would have totally been down with UM being an MP10 cab in white and a second toy being the trailer that transformed to encompass the MP10 cab (sort of like a ride armor toy). I just am glad they didn't give us something in between where the trailer had to be disassembled into several parts and then reassembled on the MP10 style toy. I don't own a single third party TF item. I'm not getting on a soapbox here but I do think it's a particularly bad show to compete with the legitimate rights owners. If the rights owners are ignoring the toy you want and somebody (a bit shady) fills that niche I can understand a purchase. Competition is good and all but the Masterpiece line has generally been very good so it seems silly to me to buy CS on the assumption that UM will be terrible. If reviews come out that MP UM sucks I still wouldn't have the heart to go third party but I'm sure others will.
  22. 1) Seems kind of a dick move to me to buy third party stuff that is directly competing with first party. Cone heads? Sure. TP released ahead of MP? No support for you. 2) Something really turns me off about CS, I think it's the head sculpt.
  23. Is UM really supposed to be an armored prime? It's been eons since I saw the cartoons but I always remember him being fully armored. I thought it was only a contrivance for the toy.
  24. I disagree. To me, the less something transforms and the more something disassembles and reassembles the worse it gets. Scale has always been an afterthought with TF and it's not like the show had AWESOME animation that consistently showed everyone the right sizes. I was able to enjoy G1 UM so as long as this thing isn't fragile or incredibly frustrating I think people will warm up to it. What mech/robot has the best butt flap of all time? My vote goes to the Spartas hovertank from Southern Cross.
