    Thanks, I think I edited my little attempt at a history to make it more accurate. I definitely disagree on Tats being a puppet of HG; HG is such a minor player in everything. HG may have started it all by offering to pay more for the license if it really did allow them to make money through the sell of merchandise beyond the original series. Then Tats would begrudgingly have to figure that out.

    Thanks, I grabbed one. I will echo the person on the last page... their shipping system is terrible. I was hoping to get it at HLJ to ship with my YF-25 but oh well.

    There's a licensing thread but I think it goes something like this (I'm sure someone will correct me on some of this): 1) BigWest can't quite fund all of Macross so they get some financial help from Tatsunoko. Tatsunoko gets international licensing and distribution rights for their efforts. 2) Tatsunoko licenses rights to Harmony Gold to three properties, one is Macross 3) Tatsunoko takes BW to court to clarify the terms of the original compensation for helping finance Macross 4) Courts uphold that Tatsunoko does have the international distribution and merchandising rights to Macross 5) BW countersues claiming they have rights to Macross IP including derivative properties 6) Courts side with BW and determine that Tatsunoko only has international rights to the original show and its merchandising, no IP rights (no sequels, no derivatives). I would presume that Tatsunoko and Harmony Gold have an agreement that Harmony Gold is to act toward the rights they have acquired in a way commiserate with how Tatsunoko views the world. That means that Harmony Gold can't go trying to make cozy with BigWest because Tatsunoko could yank the rights from them and if that happened, HG would lose EVERYTHING. So HG is a puppet of Tatsunoko in that it allows Tatsunoko to exert its will against BW by doing things like trademarking "Macross."

    I suspect we will find ourselves waiting in line for a new ride at Disneyland inside a 1:1 MF at some point.

    The problem lies in BW having no incentive to work with HG and they have no relationship with HG, just with Tats... Who they hate. There is no way for HG to resolve this and Tats is the only company that can destroy robotech. So HG will do as Tats desires.

    So maybe this want a hint at all, maybe Mr K is just stoked on his classic toy find.

    Don't forget Tatsunoko, Robotech's existence hinges on that relationship, that's whyHG can't make nice with BW. HG would need tats and BW to make nice and that will never happen.

    Frank should: 1) Fire the staff 2) Reduce 'robotech.com' to a web store and infopedia 3) Put Robotech into a reissue and defend property status until he dies I would say "maybe 10 years from now someone would pick up the franchise, dust it off, and reboot it like so many other things have been rebooted" but with Robotech that doesn't make any sense. With all the changes you need to make it all fit together seamlessly and avoid rights issues, any person considering doing this would be way better off just making their own show.

    I saw some extended clips at Comic-con that were fun. I hated the Pierce Brosnan 007 movies for being goofy while attempting a serious vibe and this movie seems like it's trying to be a lot like those but with an understanding that it is a little goofy.

    I think the green you're seeing is just poorly colored super parts on a VF-1S Focker valk. I would guess it's a hint at a super parts reissue.

    A mistake isn't done consistently, it was a choice by someone that when in the GBP the visor is gray. It doesn't appear to be a separate piece, just gray. Takatoku probably used gray because they knew they were going to release a GBP. Whether it should be the same blue gray as the armor... I dunno. Maybe it is a separate piece, just really thin... I'd be upfor an attachment if they could pull it off.

    I don't know if you can say it's definitely a separate part, it looks like it's just painted gray when the armor is on... No, you can't reconcile that to how things would work in real life.

    So did they knock of MP-18S? I was thinking of buying the cheapest one I could find on eBay but it's coming out of China which makes me weary...

    There's nothing about that walking artillery that makes me think MACROSS! except for the name. I'm sure HG could use that design if they wanted to.

    I am looking forward to that Bape Optimus... I guess I just look forward to all Optimus toys though. Will be keen for a preorder.
