I swear i just searched for Arcadia and didn't find this thread. This toy is on sale at HLJ now. 10% off and then at check out you get another 17% so total is like 26000 yen with today's exhange rate that's not too bad.

I think we should expect some inflation in the HI-Metal prices if for no other reason than the Yen is weak right now so it's going to cost more to pay their Chinese workers and then ship the product. If Bandai tries to make the Hi-Metals more intricate that will only get worse.

Judging by this, it seems like we have a pretty good chance at not having to worry about paint scratching in front of the canopy... but we've seen Bandai do some pretty silly things in the past.

David, I think there's a misunderstanding about what the spoiler tag is intended for. If you want to have a private conversation you need to send a personal message. In this case there were multiple people who agreed with your assertion which is all the more reason why you should have never viewed my responses as a personal attack, which I assure you they were never meant to be. You keep egging me on saying that I'm an @ss, have an annoying personality, and that you're laughing at me; I'm just sayin' I think the 29 is pretty sweet and that many of the reasons it is so sweet are the same reasons the 25 is sweet. Please don't think others who agree with me are attacking you either, we just don't see a reason to believe the YF-29 is inferior to the VF-25 from an engineering standpoint, at least where the two share mechanics. I would say there are two knocks. The first being the propensity for the joints to get loose, the second being the ability to scratch off that black paint in front of the cockpit.

I think that's the problem. You think your opinion is being attacked. I think this need not be a matter of opinion. We can pick the toys up and look at the actual mechanisms. If there are differences that show subtle improvements then your assertion is correct. If the mechanisms are all the same then your assertion is incorrect. If you say "Hey, i think the VF-25 is way cooler" then there's an opinion and you're welcome to it. I would agree that the YF-29 is a more complicated bird which can make it less user friendly than the VF-25 so some people will definitely prefer the VF-25. I would disagree with the assertion that the YF-29 is not of the same level as the VF-25 simply because it's was released first and featured the same mechanisms leading a reviewer to call it a 'prototype'. I think that's a silly assertion. Your opinion is not under attack. If you like the VF-25 WAY more that's cool.

The only thing that makes me think it might be worse is it looks like the arms need to be rotated forward at the shoulder to make space for the boosters but that might be an optical illusion and just the way it happened to be posed.

I would say GERWALK looks 'possible' but I'm guessing there are some serious range of movement issues there.

This kind of reminds me of the adage "you can never go home". The trailer feels too familiar but I guess that was to be expected.

It's possible Arcadia is limited in what they can do for reasons beyond their control... like licensing issues.

Just to be clear Scyla, the quote you have from me above is comparing the 25 to the 29, not the 27. Some members seem to think the 29 is not up to the same standard as the 25 when to me it seems the 25 is either the same or the 29 is more intricate. I don't understand the basis for someone to think the 29 is in some way below the standard of the 25 just because the 29 had improvements before the 25 did. I think it's because the word 'prototype' was used by a review once as a way of saying 'first introduction' and has been misconstrued to mean 'incomplete in execution'. I'd agree readily with the assertion the second edition 27 is in no ways as much an improvement as the 'renewal' 25 was.

Bandai really didn't do itself many favors with how it rolled out the Hi-Metal line. Hopefully things go better this time around.

I never got around to owning the VF-19S (although I may grab one some day) but I thought the 19S came with the gun adapter that Bandai sold separately for the Kai with the display base. I might be mistaken though.

I think I'm getting this game for Xmas but I also think it's very unlikely I'll have time to put it all together... ever.

Until proven otherwise, I would consider the CF 171 faults a unique event. There has already been a 'renewal' VF-27 toy released so you should know exactly what you're getting with these. I would also expect these to be Tamashii exclusives as the first grace was exclusive and Bandai has to know the market for these variants is tiny.

So GERWALK doesn't work with wing fast packs and that's why we haven't seen that mode right?
