If you have a V2 Rodimus you should just sell it to me and let me worry about the knees. Thanks -- 17085 replies

Relative to what? Let's say Arcadia did come back with a 'decent' MSRP on a VF-1 toy, are the two VF-1 releases a year really going to overshadow anything? I still love my V2 VF-1 toys and they absolutely did crush the Hi-Metal line originally by being thrown in bargain bins for nearly the same price as the brand new Hi-Metal toys... but that ship has sailed. Arcadia isn't going to pump out VF-1 toys and what they do make is going to cost 40% more than MSRP of Yamato products... and the Yamato products cost the same as the Hi-Metal toys when they were 40% off... which isn't going to happen on anything except ugly non-canon stuff. I'm still hoping this is all just prelude to a DX toy but in the meantime... Arcadia is on life support and won't be doing any game changing for a while.

Don't they give you a spacer just in case that happens? Or you could use the stand.

I might buy the one new one to look for differences.

Man, it seemed like they had the color figured out... now I'm not so sure.

My price prediction was pretty darn close!

These are different from the SDCC items as these have articulation. Those gashapon toys were supposed to be out already... Wonder what happened to them.

You guys inow 30 years passed right? It's change for the sake of the audience expects change. Arguing the merits of the change of a vehicle designed to look cool and exist in fantasy is silly.

I hope they release it in mid-January or something... letting the terrorists win seems like a really bad precedent to set.

They were not perfect transformation, they were very far from it, so far that I offered the Toynami MPC, glad things got better from there.

I love SAL except for one somewhat expensive lost item.

That's a pretty fantastic price on that Q-Rare.

Ah crap... hold on, let me get back out my abacus and redo the math... Updated!

I'm sure this isn't a new idea but I have a colleague who is HUGE on the idea of rebooting Star Wars. He wants the original trilogy remade and for there to be only one death star that doesn't get blown up until the third movie. The first two movies would then be the story of how the rebellion solidifies and grows in strength to be a force big enough to take on the death star. His take is that if Lucas had known all along that all three movies would get made that's what he would have tried to do instead of encapsulating the whole thing into the first movie. Instead the first movie would end with some other Empire icon being destroyed which encourages more rebels which leads to the strike back and then ultimately the return of the Jedi. Anyway, it kind of blew my mind since that was the first person who ever told me they needed to get rid of the original trilogy and start all over.

No, but that is no reason not to start complaining about it. We might be able to back into the MSRP. Let's try: The Arcadia VF-1S with stand cost 16,800 Yen The Arcadia stand sales for 2,700 Yen Had Arcadia sold the VF-1S without the stand it should have retailed for about 14,100 Yen A Yamato VF-1 sold for 9,800 Yen That means Arcadia did a mark of 4,300 Yen or roughly 44% The Yamato GBP giftset originally retailed for 16,800 Yen Adding the 7400 Yen (rounidng) and you get 24,200 Yen as the expected retail price if a stand isn't included, 26,900 if a stand is included, and 51,200 Yen if they're going to include 10 stands.

They were decent in fighter mode but the metal led to chipping paint which was no bueno.

Edge of Tomorrow, on DVD/Blu-ray Oct. 7, 2014
jenius replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Okay, so I've never read the novel but I did watch the movie and here's my immediate reaction review: If I were doing the letter system, I'd say it's a solid B+. I really enjoyed that they were able to inject some humor into in a few instances (like when he's run over by a truck trying to sneak away). I expected to be bothered by the idea that people would grow attached to a person they just met but I think the movie does a fairly decent job with that. I also expected to be bothered by how lame I thought the mechs looked but it's immediately evident that he mechs HAVE to look the way they do. You had to see Tom Cruise's terrible posture the first times in it to understand just how uncomfortable he was. They couldn't do the Tony Stark face shot to capture the necessary body language. Unfortunately a movie like this opens itself to a lot of "maybe he should try this" moments. It does a good job in the beginning making you feel like he has little wiggle room. When he squares off against the general though to ask for the alpha/omega tracker, it seemed to me that he should just instantly jam it into his leg and then tell the general where the Omega was. What was he going to accomplish by running away with it? Then he could just pitch to the general "Give me one squad for a clandestine mission, it won't be enough to affect your odds tomorrow and if I'm right, we'll make sure the whole world knows you're a hero." The only reason I can think of for not trying it that way is to make sure the rest of the movie plays out the way it did... but ya know, in the scheme of things that's a minor gripe. Similarly, it seems like his acquisition of a drop vehicle for the final battle ought to have had at least a short scene dedicated to it. Did the Angel of Verdun call in a favor? My final quibble is probably my biggest... the ending. Oh Hollywood... must you be so Hollywood? There's no rhyme or reason to it except that it's happy. I mean, they didn't even try, they just kind assume you'll go with it. It's implied that the omega blood gives him the ability to control time but hmmm... kind of a tough sale. Also, time is essentially broken at the end of the movie and that's completely glossed over. EDIT - ooh I forgot, in the build up to the attack on the Omega, the drop ship crashes. Then, everyone goes back to the drop ship, they start it up, and continue along. It felt like wasted time to me. Why not just have the drop ship crash right as it got to where it was going? They could have shaved 10 minutes of fluff off.- 180 replies

If it helps, you can imagine it's spelled "Phyn" . Besides, it's Star Wars, soon kids in their classes will equate the name with a science fiction character and have a hard time not imagining him while they read classic literature.
