DX VF-1. Hi-Metal universe.

Ha! I watched an episode about a year back for nostalgia's sake... I remember it being so fun when I was little but... I think they should let that have its place in TV history and not dredge it up again.

So you just took a sponge, some water and soap to it?

Somebody said the super parts were fighting them earlier. In fighter mode, here's how I did it and it was a snap: 1) Bring legs down at the GERWALK joint and bring the lower leg back at the knee 2) Peg legs into the lower slot and install leg armors 3) Lift the shoulders up, install upper calf pieces. When doing this, pivot the interior shoulder guard below upper calf part after it's installed and then press the shoulder back down into its proper position. 4) Install the large shoulder parts. 5) Work your way forward there then sliding in the mid sized pieces and then finally the small pieces (making sure you have the right and left on the correct shoulder) That's what I did and everything fit right in and for all the problems I had working out the kinks in fighter mode I found that all to be totally painless and everything is holding on really well. I think I see now what the complaints were though... those upper wing tabs look pretty bad. I will say this though, while the boosters should fit easily enough, my left one just shoots right off the toy with the slightest tough. Whoops!

Shameless plug but I also put a video up of transforming the YF-29 which shows you how to not have issues with the shoulders popping off. I will say this, the pinnacle (to me) of a good transformation design is that everything has an easily identifiable point of "right". When you have rotated a part to that point you know you have it in the proper spot and then when all the parts are in their proper place everything seats correctly and there aren't any gaps and everything holds together without feeling like anything is under pressure. That is the apex that all toy designers should strive for. I would even extend this to things like tailfins.. they should have spots where they are in their proper position if they then fold down for transformation. The next step below that is to have a toy where everything can line up correctly and seat properly but there is no clear indicator for the user that everything is absolutely in the right spot. This may lead a user to initially complete transformation only to realize one part isn't quite perfect so they have to back track a step or two, tweak some things, and then everything comes back together as it should with things locking in place without gaps or pressure. Then you have worse design/builds where no matter what you do there are gaps in the lines and certain parts feel forced.

This whole talk about IP owners reminds me of The Neverending Story. The author hated the movie so bad that he insisted they change the name. The studio was like "You know you signed away all your rights and have no input here right? Buzz off." So then he sued the studio. Then the judge was like "You know you signed away all your rights and have no input right? Buzz off."

Yes, HG has the international merchandising rights to Mospeada so they would have to be on board for a US toy release.

Okay, if you can see the tabs up around the hips then you probably have a geometry issue with the hips themselves. I would guess you need to grab the toy by the hips and try to rotate the bottom of the hips outward toward the wing tips. Obviously you're making a minor adjustment here. JVMacross, I think you've nailed the 'extra' that would have been a million times cooler than the pinpoint barrier punch.

Ah man, I was just putting in that edit when you wrote that. I'm totally fine with you not liking my website, I'm sure you're not alone. In fact, you're in pretty good company. I still like it though.

Yeah, I only read things I agree with 100% of the time too! Edit - I'll say this for my site, even if you think every opinion I have is wrong, I try to make sure it's useful to everyone by including a list of exactly what comes in the box, what releases there are, how much they cost, how big the toy is, what it looks like with various similar releases. So, even if you're like "yuck, he wishes the VF-25 battroid looked more imposing" you could still get something useful from it. If you don't like my opinion you can just think of it as sort of a toy wiki unfortunately smattered with the ramblings of an idiot.

Save yourself several hours of frustration and just smash it against a wall and call it a day. I kid... I kid... But seriously... I've probably wasted 2 hours of an incredibly busy life dealing with the gappiness in that last picture and I've come to the conclusion that if the gappiness is even all the way across then you should just accept it as 'good enough' and not fiddle with it any more. My hope is that after a few transformations things will fit a little better as things loosen up a hair.

Bandai has already done business with Toynami through the Mega House line of Mospeada Ride Armor toys. I don't know if they would have viewed that as a successful venture or not but I think the general consensus is that there's nothing wrong with doing business with Toynami so long as Toynami is simply a distributor. Arcadia is forbidden from doing business with an HG-affiliated entity through BigWest licensing agreements and I would guess the folks at Arcadia probably still have some bad blood from the Toycom/Toynami/Sunrise fiascos. For Mospeada, if a company were to make a new product I'm relatively certain they would reach out to HG to try to sell the product stateside and potentially use Toynami as their distributor.

Actar, did I miss the post where you figured out what that piece was? I'm hoping to have a friggin' minute to put the super parts on my toy tonight so I can see what all this hubbub is about.
-
Oh ye of little faith... I think we'll see another Mospeada product... and i think we'll even see a Houquet and Yellow. If Orguss lives on so shall Mospeada. I will say this though, the toy they SHOULD make first is Yellow (if doing ride armors). Everyone wants Yellow's ride armor. It seems like Japan loves Yellow too, he's always on the DVD covers and stuff.

Um... unless you're talking about the paint they're going to use on the toy... where Arcadia doesn't even know themselves until they get the production unit.

Did you miss the prototype pictures of the 2 seaters or a are you just predicting an early demise?

I think the best thing to do is to get the Hikaru, see if the improvements make it worth it to you, and if they do, get the new Focker. You might want to keep your old Focker if the super/strike parts haven't changed.

The hunger thing is horror movie cliche. Jaws doesn't take a break. Xenomorphs don't take a break. When you're playing on the innate human fear of being eaten the baddies need to be very hungry.

I still can't get my toy lined up this well on top. I think I must have some sort of manufacturing SNAFU somewhere because the left side always looks like something is pushing the leg away from the body. This is why I can massage it to get it CLOSE to looking like this but after some handling it looks gappy again. Some peg must be a little too big or something.

This late in the game they should go straight to 4K.

I wonder if it's just production tolerances or something but I feel like I am CONSTANTLY fighting gaps. Maybe I'm just way too anal because I'm taking pictures and all but man, it seems like there's always some line somewhere that is wider on one side of the toy than the other. The worst offender for me tends to be anything related to the right leg in fighter mode. I have found a couple items I would say to watch out for if you're experiencing similar issues: 1) The crotch guns, they seem to slide pretty easily so if things are fighting you double check that they're tucked away properly 2) The angle of the arms. As others have mentioned, put the gun in and then make sure the gun is fairly tight to the crotch in fighter mode. If it's not, your arms aren't angled properly Everything else seems like it should take care of itself... but for some reason I'm constantly trying to massage the lines tighter. I may get it just right but then I'll handle it and things will get tweaked again.

Terminator 5/Terminator: Genisys, opening July 1, 2015
jenius replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I don't know if I would say I liked the first one very much but I thought it worked for what it was. The second one was mostly unwatchable, the third was similarly bad, I haven't forced myself to watch the fourth one after the other two turd baths. This thread has me convinced I need to watch T2 again. When I saw it in the theaters I thought it was the most amazing movie ever. It'd be interesting to see how it aged. I did just recently watch the alternate ending... Thank God that ending didn't stay.- 508 replies

There's no where left to go with just Dinosaurs... I suggest to you the next logical place to go is: JURASSIC WORLD WAR Z! Zombie velociraptors! That'll make you poop yourself a little bit.
